Tw Map Reset Thread

Everyone will be happy for a few weeks but very quickly you will see the map locked down to a few factions again.

As for the switch to coins. Really, sanc's TW balance under mirage was better than it ever was and I can easily see coins being a huge incentive for people to abandon the smaller guilds again for the dominant ones.

pple will just flock to the 'winner' fac
more color on the map for a while
more new factions
more fleas jumping facs

while the coin rewards are extremely nice, b:dirty
to be really honest, the mirage system would have been better. We've already seen some pple scatter like flies on a b:fatb when the coin changed to mirages. While these pple do help in tw, im pretty sure most facts would prefer loyal pple than coin scrounging mercenaries. The new system makes it harder to weed out mercenaries.

On a side note this actually might benefit the smaller guilds. Not because of the reset but because mercenaries dont go to 'poor' factions, they actually get a younger gen. but more of those that are willing to 'work' for free. The kind of pple that when b:fatb hits the fan, they stay for you.

I never suspected it would happen but I would say most will go the stronger factions as Asterelle said .

step 1: alot of known and unknown factions appear on the map
step 2: only 6-8 factions remaining
step 3: only 4-6 factions remaining
step 4: other territory-less tw factions disbanded
step 5: vindicate disbanded due to inside drama
step 6: new 'unknown - epic geared players' emerge from nowhere (tw payment thieves)
step 7: life goes on..

Smaller factions had a maybe bigger chance to do TW but the incentive for a lot of players was gone or less. A faction can support its members in different ways with the money gained and that may be also a part of the game: Support your members in a way it can improve. - A challenge of how to handle the money reward can be already to filter new applicants who come for the coin and others who apply because they see something in a faction they can identify themselves with (or at least both). Bigger factions will have an advantage for sure but some of their members put also more effort in it to make their respective guilds Tw-competitive. Therefore the coin may be a reward for hard work by officers/members alike. On the other hand greed may lead to disagreements in and outside the guilds.

I think that the return of coin payment could very well make it possible for another "super" faction to emerge, it would be hard, but I wouldn't say "impossible". It would also take quite a bit of time to achieve.

I'd think this reset idea would be cool if it became like a bi-annual or annual thing. Keep shaking things up.

For some reason I also recall them saying that TW would slowly go back to it's original system. Meaning bidding might go back to the old system as well? o: I always read the news updates late so I could be wrong there :P

I think it's like Vi said, nothing really will change. I've never participated in TW but I've always been curious to follow them and what motivates people to join in. It always seemed to me that in a pay-to-win setup that whichever faction has the most Rank-9s will simply steam-roll all challengers. Not sure that's how people that lose TWs view it but it just doesn't seem like it'd be much fun to me (as I'll likely never have R9).

Still an annual or bi-annual reset does allow a very brief period for lesser factions to potentially win a land via PvE, but it doesn't take long for the established R9 factions to dominate the map again... you'll be down to the same 3-5 factions you have now within a month if not less. Those top factions can boot the inactive, under-geared, and/or un-skilled and take on better players who want a piece of the TW coin payment and will abandon a lesser faction that has not demonstrated they can hold a lot of land. All other factions bidding will pretty much be throwing their bid money to the wind. Same as it ever was, but that's the natural order of things in this particular game it seems.

I may sound a bit cynical, but I do hope those that like TW enjoy this reset and what it offers! b:victory

Isn't gold damn well near a 1mil now? So I can't see the payments being THAT much of an issue? It was when gold was 100k, but a Mil? Wouldn't be much value to go around

lol gold ceiling used to be 1m, but i think it got bumped to 4m after rank sale. Gold is currently hovering at a comfortable 715k - considered low by today's standards.
