Treasure Chest Mobs

I have searched all around for the answer but sofar no luck.

I keep coming across treasure chests guarded by multiple monsters. Are the chests part of a quest or is an item needed to open them? b:sweatb:puzzled

I believe they're part of quests that aren't implemented in our version.

Sometimes the chests can be opened. All that is inside is 'gold foil' which sells to an NPC for 1,000 coin and does nothing else.

There are a few such chests which are involved in quests (there's one up by FB51 for example, and one in secret passage) - those don't give you anything except continuation of the quest, and can only be dug if you have the quest active.

Of those mob surrounded chests found around the world map, only the Nanmuwood Chests can be opened, the rest need keys that aren't implemented in the game. Also, while you'll usually get Gold Foil (worth 1,000 coins and no other use in the game), there is a decent chance you'll get other items (see the previous link for items and chest locations).

A Nanmuwood Chest is probably not worth it if you're much above level 25 though.
