    You can try to do that all you want, that doesn't change that in the time you spent trying to rip off one guy and make like 5mil profit, I've made 50mil profit.

    If I sell 10k tokens at 1k more than I paid, and someone else sells 200 tokens at 5k more than he paid, who makes more money?

    Yeah, those are the idiots. Like I said, they're too stupid to lower their prices, which results in their failure as merchants.

    What happens is that they manage to sell maybe 5 Badges (and that's being very generous) over the course of a day at a markup of ~35k, for a total profit of 175k per day. Because of greed, their minds are fixated on the profit-per-item, plus they're getting an ego-rush from ripping somebody off.

    Meanwhile I'm selling 3,300 Badges per day at ~0.4k profit each, for a total profit of 1.3 million per day.

    So yeah, my original statement stands: Greedy merchants are fail merchants.

    The best complaint a buyer can make against a merchant is to not do business with them. If you don't pay, they lose.

    I know people like to blame greedy merchants who list high prices as the cause of those high prices, but in reality such greedy merchants have little to no effect on the economy because their sales volumes are so low.

    For example, there are currently lots of merchants on Sanctuary trying to sell SoF/Feathers for 12k-20k each. How much of an effect do they have on the actual price of SoF/Feathers? Virtually none, because I bought 200,000 of them before the sale ended and have been selling them at 10% mark-up ever since the sale ended. I still have 90,000 left, and have no intention of raising my price.

    The result is that the greedy merchants who are trying to sell their SoF/Feathers for more than me are just going to have to wait until I am sold out. By the time they do I'll have already re-invested my profits from the SoF/Nix that I've sold and turned that into an additional 20-30% profit as well.

    Oh, and I'm kinda curious where I might have insulted my customers. I love my customers. I love offering better prices than my competition and attracting happy and satisfied customers, and thus raking in money as a result.

    Its just insulting when you tell someone their opinions are invalid because you make more money than the people they are complaining about. How much a legitimate merchant makes is irrelevant to the post I made. Like I said, I'm not saying you are one of the people who are a problem. I'm saying that there is a problem and that even if I don't agree with it being as big of an economy ruining problem as some people do, it is a CHARACTER devastating. People getting scammed out there and pwi not doing enough about it is a problem. Even something like creating a section in the tickets for reporting individual players for ripping people off or stealing would be helpful. Or at least make it easier to access in their ticket system. I've let other people report individual people I've seen scamming because I didn't know what category if fell under and wondered if pwi would listen either way. Yes there is to some extent, buyer beware. I've never fallen for it myself. But just because thats true doesn't mean it should fine and dandy for someone to attempt to scam people out of their hard earned money. And you'd be surprised how fast those sale. I heard of a girl who ripped off three people in a single day before she got banned. 15 mil in a day is a nice chunk of change especially given the low overhead cost of buying just three tokens of luck. Even if you don't agree, don't call your customers morons. And everyone who plays on the sanctuary server is your potential customer.

    Sadly, some things are not obtainable any other way. Mystical Tome Pages come to mind, immediately. If everything available via tokens were obtainable in-game, I think we'd see less of a love/hate relationship.

    I think the confusion is that you're mixing and matching two different discussions. Greedy merchants != Scammers.

    The post I made specifically responded to the allegation that, "some who merchant are in fact greedy, and they contribute to this game's messed up economy".

    That belief, although common, is not true. You can argue it is all you want, and that's fine with me if you choose to do so, but on the other hand if you want to have a discussion about scammers instead then we could do that too and I'd probably just agree with you that they suck/deserve to be banned/harm the game overall/etc...

    Ah. I hadn't seen that before, thanks. (And the forum didn't show your post when it showed my reply, sorry.)

    I know there were a couple of other items which I couldn't find in the shop too which seemed only able to be gotten via packs.

    But yeah, if there's alternate ways to get all of it, let packs and tokens die, I say. b:victory
