Whats the point of trading mysterious chips for some of the items that mysterious merchant selling? for example: First - to get mysterious chips you have to exchange some dragon points that you gathered my selling dragon quest items or other way to get chips is by getting mysterious packs. First way - you have to spend time on grinding dq items, Second way to buys some gold and then get packs.
And now the conclusion - When you have enough chips example Golden Spirit (TT 80 gold mat) cost you 45 mysterious chips at mysterious merchant AND you have to pay him a fee of 2 MILS to get the the mat.
Where is the point? You can buy this same mat for about 1 mils or 1.3 mils at Auction House.
This is just a simple example.. There are many others that are rediculous. Would be nice if someone explain... Thank you in advance.. Would be nice too if someone try to do something for this to be Correct / Fixed.

It's called a coin sink. If you're not in the mood to hunt for the item you need. You can chip it and spend some coin as well. Chipping also removes said coin from circulation, which is good for the in-game economy.

It also helps keep a price cap on the items, no one's going to charge much more than it costs to chip, otherwise there would be no reason to buy their product.

There is no point, it's useles considering everyone sells stuff that u can get on there for less. PW needs to redo the fees on that. Take the Evilstare Daggers as another example. 1.6 mil fee.... the MOLD's like 400k....... lol

Your example just shows that Golden Spirits are not worth making from the merchant; there are plenty of tt99 and lunar mats that are chipped.

Also the mysterious merchant chip fee serves to set a price ceiling for mats and molds. You often see gold mat market value just slightly below the chip value due to people having to compete against the merchant.

Really if the chip value is less than the market value then the farmers aren't doing their job and merchants will flood the market with overpriced mats.

i'm not agree that this is good for the economy.. its completly wrong.. would nbe nice if its fixed. thats how more ppl will start to use chips again.. i'm not saying that fee have to be removed or something but atlleast have to decrease the fee down.. just to be reasonable..

Geez, idiots pretending to be economists. The mysterious merchant is a very GOOD thing, since it puts a PRICE CAP on items. As somebody already stated, nobody is going to reasonably put a price of 10million for a particular gold mat, if the gold mat is available for, say, 5mil + 200 chips in ah (which works out to, what, not quite 5.2mil?). Without this limitation, gold mats would probably be much more pricey. The REASON the gold mats are cheaper in AH than via mysterious merchant is so that they are competitive. If you can get gold mat at mysterious merchant for 5.2mil, who is going to spend more than that on a gold mat? So perhaps the seller prices his gold mat at 4.8mil instead. If you cannot understand this then...

Second, as somebody already stated, for those who do not WISH TO WAIT for a gold mat to be available (some of them are not farmed very often/rare) then they are ALWAYS AVAILABLE.

Third, some items are CHEAPER from the mysterious merchant than anywhere else. A good example is DICE TICKETS, especially given how cheap mysterious chips are at the moment. On that note, ANYTHING from the mysterious merchant is quite cheap at the moment. Seriously, what the hell are you complaining about?

It is NOT that hard! You can get chips for cheap there, and the best part--they don't even drop when you die. You can have your virtual cake, and also eat it.

Actually, Mysterious Chips are one of the worst things you can buy using Dragon Points. The exchange rate is terrible.

Instead, consider that 25 boxes of 15 chips each currently sells for a mere 20 silver in boutique. At gold prices of say, 750k, that's 150k for 25 boxes of chips, or a mere 6k coins per 15 chips. Are you really going to tell me you can't manage to grind that?

Again, see Azzazzin's post. And actually read it. Nobody is forcing you to use the Mysterious Merchant for those items that normally cost less than the fee. If it's cheaper to buy the mold from another player, do so. If it's not, or it's unavailable, then use the Mysterious Merchant. Common sense, really.

Why would you want to get mysterious chips????? They are almost useless (unless you are cash shopping to rank 9)

The mysterious merchant's goods are reminiscent of ages long gone. Many of the items and mats that you can buy there used to be cheaper if you bought them there.

He's still good for 99 gold mats... and it does set a maximum price... otherwise you'd probably see Illusion Stone selling for 20-30m ea or more.

As for the rest of the stuff.... if you don't see or understand why they're priced as they were, it's before your time. Don't even try to understand. You can't and there's no point.

/inb4 OP finds out about coin chests and makes 1.000.000 QQ threads (require a perfect browser to read)

if you found the object you want cheaper and got it, gz.
if you didnt/you dont want to search/you want it now, you can go buy it from the merchant.

if you found it cheaper and then you bought it from the merchant, you are an idiot.
and you are very welcome to DW, i have to sell you a lot of stuff.

anyway, you got the chips and you found out that you have to pay a fee,
got mad and rage about the merchant.
yes, he should display the fee.

Mysterious Merchant is definitely good for TT99 gold mats, especially since the increased difficulty of certain TT bosses, making certain gold mat prices skyrocket in price (and making farming of them extremely difficult). Chipping them is the only option for a lot of people now. Sure, for basically anything other than TT99 the merchant isn't of much use (well, dice tickets too), but as others have said, he sets a price cap and in that way is handy just standing there. I do agree though that the fee should be displayed whether or not you have the required amount of chips in your inventory when you are looking. That part is just stupid.
