Who else thinks exp loss is the most cruel way to die?

Ugh, I'm mad when I should be lv 38 by now but dying happens to frequently and easily to squishy characters. I have to rely solely on crazy stone to lvl up. One death = 20-30 monsters to kill to get that exp back. Out of all the mmos I've played, I hardly complained about dying but exp loss definitely pushes my buttons >.<

i came from another MMO game where exp loss was normal and you even deleveled.

maybe you need to pay more attention to the fight? that or pick a easier game to start off

Grind mobs for 1-2 hours, get 500k. Buy 5 hypers, slap on x12 exp. Get ~5 levels within an hour hypering mobs around your level. Exp loss problem solved :D

P.S Don't say you can't afford that, you're doing CS, aren't you? Skip CS a couple of days and get hypers instead :D

What class are you dieing alot on? Maybe someone has a bright idea to reduce deaths.

Perma-death is the worst way to die... nothing like restarting a character due to a single death...

I hate to say this, but it sounds like maybe you aren't playing your class to its fullest potential. I can't remember the last time I died on any of my chars doing quests, other than the times I got cocky thinking I could finish a mob before it finished me. lol

Are you using a Jones blessing? Are your attack skills up to date? Is your weapon?

O.o what kind of Mmo does perma-death. That sounds intense.

But dear Op, when you die you maybe lose 7%? when I die I lose less than 1% but if for some reason I decide to grind it (which I wouldn't, I'd just do bh or cs) it would take several times longer for me to get it back than for you to lvl.

    Just saying :D

I hate when I lose exp on my Cleric.

My Psy also had a problem at lvl 28~30 where I lost all my exp, went and killed brambleback centipeds. Was hella annoying

Well I'm sorry if I seem to sound like a newbie but I'm not that knowledgeable on this game and everything that helps to get more exp is EXPENSIVE. I don't know any money making techniques and this game is quite different than other games I've played. Plus some of us don't have the time and energy like some other people to play for hours and hours. I chose to play to ease off some steam and it was recommended from a friend.

I'm an assassin and I use light armor and my daggers are reasonable for my level.

The sin skill Bloodpaint should be available by now. Also try getting some Nectar and Golden Herbs for Life Powders. They're a godsend, imo. You can probably find people selling some of those items in the starter cities too.

A particular game by Sony had a promotional server for an expansion release. If I recall correctly, it was PK-enabled and permadeath. Only had it up a few weeks if I recall correctly, but I hear it was intense (I didn't test the waters, I',m too much of a carebear lol).

On a side note, that game did delevel you if your XP dropped below the level requirement. Really blew goats when you deleveled out of your gear and had to regain the xp half naked with no weapon. For a long time I held the record in my guild for dinging the same level 6 times during one raid. I had just leveled right before the raid started, and I died 6 times, de-leveled each time, and re-dinged 6 times after regaining the xp.

If you're not adverse to spending some coin/cash, get some Guardian Scrolls. If you buy the 10-pack in the Boutique, you end up shelling out about 30 cents per death. (I think. Not in game to check the Boutique at the moment.)

No exp loss, and you can PvP without fear of losing your gear, instead of hoping that your Safety Lock (ab)use doesn't backfire on you. b:chuckle They're a way to get good PvP practice early in the game without worrying about your bags/gear/etc. getting lost. The only repurcussion to dying is that you end up in town (I purposely lose in PvP sometimes to get to town faster, if my Town Portal is still in cooldown and it's a bit of a flight...) and you lose a few cents.

If you're doing it in the Boutique, and you're a halfway-skilled player, you won't spend more than a cup of coffee's worth of cash per day. b:victory

In my opinion, they're one of the best items available to buy that's good for both PvE and PvP. Just be aware that they only stack to 20, so there's no need to buy too many at once if you want to save bag slots.

A game with perma death which i no of, is hosted by Aeria games and the first 3 letters are Sha....ill leave it as that, it just had 4 levels fo difficulty on the MMO, easy so you would level up fast, but you gained less stat points and a lower level cap, normal so you had a normal exp rate and the normal level cap and stat points, hard in which it was obv harder to level up, but you gained more stat points with a higher level cap, then *insane* or something, in which it was super hard to level up, you gained the most stat points per level, the level cap was the highest, but if you died, you had to be resed within a few minutes by someone or your character was basicly perma dead (deleted), also i aint to sure if the stat bit is true, i haven't been on it so long I've forgot.

A sin at lower levels is hardish, you just have to make sure you farm a lot of herbs to make HP powder, then HP is never an issue, pagger 1-2 mobs, let the hp powder regen you to full within a few seconds, then slaughter the next mob, better then pot spamming or sitting for ages.

    You're throwing your money away.

Guardian Scrolls can be made out of 9 Tokens. Even at currently inflated prices of ~18k, that's 162k per Guardian Scroll.

So if you sell 1 Gold at the AH, you can afford 5 for $1.

Um, OP is under lvl 40, therefore CS requires Shabbies, which can be bought from the Merchant NPC for extremely cheap. In comparison to 8 tokens for a single Hyper Crystal, and atleast three are required to use them. And at close to 30K per token, a lvl 37 casual gamer isn't going to have that kind of money to blow on hypers.

On topic, as Ratsael and Laranda pointed out, apothecary items can go a long way. Paired up with pots, it is quite easy to take on mobs without a charm. Chaos Powders and Orbs of Vibrating Light heal a nice amount of HP, while Jade Powders heal nice for MP. Life Powders and Focus Powders are especially nice, and they last for 10 minutes. Dew of Rival Protection can save you in sticky situations, and if used properly, Sinew Enhance Orbs and Marrow Refresh Orbs can also do wonders for your defense.
Once you hit lvl 45 and have apothecary at lvl 3, I advise investing in Flourish Orbs, which have the combined effect of both life powders and focus powders and lasts for 10 minutes; Tranquilizing Orbs, which make you immune to all damage for 8 seconds; Soothing Orbs and Dark Green Orbs, which heal 6K MP and 6K HP respectively; and Dew of Lunar Protection, which reduces both physical and magical damage for 20 seconds.
Also, if you are big on farming herbs, Violet Wind Dews are a good movement buff and Sickle Leaf Tea recovers 50 Chi.

Other than apothecary, charms would be a good investment, otherwise, your best bet is to face mobs who's names are in the white, as they give better exp, spirit and drops. And get the Jones's Blessing if you haven't already.

Idk if they are really taking frost away, and Ive tried to find a forum for it but I just wanted to say how dumb this is, the gms do realize I hope that they are making good money on hypers atm because frost is the only thing most people use hypers for and once they take frost away they will loose that money. They already messed game up with changing TW so now its almost pointless to do TW, the game is going to get more boring once they remove Frost and idk if they are going to bring it back or if this is temporary, I hope it is only temporary because I really enjoy frost and was hoping to get my alts in there, and everyone that I have talked too are equally upset about loosing frost. We have HH for drops, Frost should stay as an exp boost.

ok lets get a few things straight.

    you choose a sin..

Cleric are squisy but they can self heal
wiz are squishy but they can self heal

archer are squishy but they kill stuff at range ideally b4 it hits them and they have a damaging absorbing shield although no self heal

psychic kill stuff b4 it hits them an have a self heal

barbs and bm arnt squish and have self heals.

    sin. have bloodpaint.

you CHOOSE to play sin, sins dont have a heal... meaning you either sqaud with a cleric or accept the fact that until higher lvls (70+) you going to have to drink pots every other mob or so.

your playing a squishy char yes. well unlike every other squishy class ur stuck in melee range taking hits.

the point is... your ganna lose exp if your ganna die. you ganna die if u dont drink pots.

Sins die more than any other class. dont wanna die? dont play sin.
Killing level 80's with a lvl 60 is a lot more fun than killing level 90's with a level 100.

That approach involves him playing the economy. He hasn't found the benefits of crafting apoth yet, even...

And I checked West Arch a few minutes ago. Tokens are going for 23K or so in vends and gold was at 875K. So at this moment, on Lost City, it's 6 of one, half dozen of the other.

The basic utility of the item was my point. And you did nothing to refute it. ;)

O.o what kind of Mmo does perma-death. That sounds intense.

A very old Blizzard game has a hardcore mode u can enable, u die, u can't rez..period, u must delete and restart

But dear Op, when you die you maybe lose 7%? when I die I lose less than 1% but if for some reason I decide to grind it (which I wouldn't, I'd just do bh or cs) it would take several times longer for me to get it back than for you to lvl.

I agree with that, on My main BM lvl 95 dying doesnt take much % away (let's say i think 1.5% if u release or so, but 1.5% of 20 mils exp is still a lot to farm back b:surrender

    Just saying :D

As for guardian scrolls and hyper exp. yeah they can help get levels back, but depending on your playtime, they do have the nasty side effect of beeing 20 hours gaining just 10% of your regular exp/spirit afterwards, barely no on mentions that.

And don't talk about FC, geez..let the OP enjoy the game and learn his chars weaknesses, powerleveling is not something good (in my book) but is kinda acceptable I guess for those having very little time on their own. But on my server I saw A LOT of clerics/barbs power lvl and then called "fail" in WC and beeing bashed on.

Power leveling also makes it so that if u "over level" by 50.. let's say lvl up by all means to lvl 80, u will have missed all drops u could have got till then and quest rewards (coins wise), so u might not even be able to have appropriate gear unless u can cash shop.

As for money making, u still in level range a bit of antellope pups not far from silver pool or abysmal mysteries in water just west of Hidden orchid, those drop Hay. Hay can sell like 5-10k depending your server.

    Hope that helps

Sins die more than any other class. dont wanna die? dont play sin.

I think thats true lol. You really are the only squishy melee class, so its not like playing a barb or a bm. You honestly just have to stick it out then you (generally) wont die unless you do something dumb. Or push your limits too much, stuff like that. "Average" mobs wont even make a dent in your hp with bloodpaint on.

At low levels, dont bother buying herbs farm them. There is a good circuit just south of Etherblade where you can pick up the stuff you need to make the Life Powder. Then later you can use the next level up of the same idea, increased HP/MP regen.

Also, make friends! Find people in your own level range to grind with, or quest with. You can share buffs, it might not be a total life saver, but should make things a bit easier. Plus the quests get done faster and its quest exp thats the good thing at lower levels. So make sure you are doing all your quests! You really dont need hypers or any of that stuff.

Sins are hard to play at low levels, mobs hurt. But get in the hang of keeping your self buffs up as much as possible, using apothecary items, and just keep going b:victory

and for all that people might say sins are a solo class, its far more fun to play in a good squad with friends :)

I have to agree as i'm a barb.

Although we do have Feral regeneration, and yeah ..sunder..Unless we get Tree of Protection or Second Wind on genie (I do prefer ToP), our hp will drop as fast. Even faster then a sin vs magic mobs if we do not time "alacrity of the beast" to cancel them before they finish casting.

Hm wait now..something did confuse me about sunder right there..Let's say I heal 2400 (overtime) when it hits, if i hit 4 mobs with it i'll heal back 9600 (still overtime) ? Have to test that....
