Sage Question

I just recently went sage on my sin, and so far I keep getting laughed at because of the way I went. To be honest, I have a demon BM so I really don't need another 4.0 sin, and I've pretty much farmed all of the items I need to get the gears to make my sin 4.0, so I really do not care for the int. What my main question is though, what shards shall I put in my gear? I've been hearing DoT's, but also to mix up with vit stones? Any suggestions?

I think citrine gems will give you more hp as an assassin.

I'm not sure on the exact number of HP/vit, but it can't be a whole lot. Someone chime in who knows the exact number.

<== sage sin with only DoTs. (I got pretty high refines on armor though)

However you're on a pvp server so I'd put some citrine gems or vit stones if I were you. Depending on how high you can/want to refine. Maybe go 50/50.

Ohh and the laughing will get less once you get sage bp ;D ... and dagger devotion. Always funny when bms think they'll out aggro you simply cause they are demon. Get used to it, you'll get laughed at at start of a run (fcc, tt, nirvana), and begged for a next run as soon as last boss died.

Empu is right, its even like that before 100+. People scoff at you (I've had people as low as like 4x call me an idiot) and then they see what you are capable of. Especially with Sage BP and DD and a bit of aps.

You'll have fun shocking people, and proving them wrong. Its not better or worse than demon, just different. Too bad demon sins don't agree :P

And on my server, the sins with their end game gear whether sage or demon use a mix of shards. Usually its a mix of vit stones and DoT, with some cit gems in there probably because of availability/cost and that they are almost the same hp as vit stones for a sin. Maybe because I'm not there yet, I dont understand what the value of just having 4 DoT is. I don't see how 4% damage > 500 hp. Maybe someone with their gear can come chime in and explain the logic behind it/if it really makes a difference. Or it could just be that they are copying the gear of sins before them. It also might be different on a PvP server.

But seriously, if you can afford nice gear...you have nothing to worry about. You'll get frustrated when demon sins with like...mold gear and no shards get all uppity about how much better they are than you just because they are demon. But then they can't hold aggro off you, and you take down things 2x as fast..they shut up pretty quick b:victory

My logic (on pve server) behind sharding with DoT is following :
I don't think 4% damage > 500 hp in general, but once you got enough hp to tank most stuff, more damage > hp. At 5k+ hp (maybe more depending on def) you can tank nirvana as sage sin without hp buff, same for bh seat and aba. I think you got the idea, once you have enough hp and def, more damage is more valuable. However, the "enough" hp will be different for every player.

+10 vit shards actually give more HP than Citrine shards do.

Also, if I'm not mistaken higher vit means higher HP recovery? [I may be mistaken on that though...]

I think what confuses me is when they only put them in once piece of gear, while the rest is sharded for HP/vit. If you have them in all your gear, thats different. You could be getting 18-20+ attack levels, which would obviously make a difference. Its using only 3 or 4 that I don't understand. For example I just got sage CoD so its 35 attack levels instead of 30. I'm sure I'm doing more damage with it on than before, but not a noticeable amount like I couldn't tell you how much more damage I'm doing.
