What is the advantage of raising a pet from level one?

I'm raising a pet from level one. My pet is now level 46 but I do not have any other pet to compare it too. I had thought that it would be more convenient raising a pet that started at level 1 all the way to the 90's since i noticed that a pet that has been raised from level one will be stronger than a pet at level 20. (as in level 20 is the pets root level). So I thought that this pattern would only increase and a pet from level one has the potential to be a very strong pet at the high levels. But now I am not so sure. Could some one please give a comment on this, or some advice maybe? It would be much apreciated. b:pleased

Within a single pet family this is almost entirely true. A level 50 turtle that started at level 5 will have much better stats than the initially level 50 one.
With the exception of its movement speed, (and range in the case of ranged pets) - and of course it won't have all the same skills, unless you have paid for them.
However - across pet families things get much more complicated. No beetle will hit as hard as a scorpion, no matter what levels they started at. No minkii will be as robust as a golem, no matter that you tamed the very first minkii you saw.
So in general, you're right, but in the specifics you might not be. Wolves are particularly complicated, because there are four families, though their stats are pretty similar.0 -
Right now I'm currently 31 and waiting on the expansion to try and see if I like the mystic. But as of now. I just farm with my veno. I use 3 pets. My level 3 scorp(Skimpy), Glacial Walker(Bubba), Petite Sawfly(Gump). I use my walker more than any other pet I have. Walker is amazing if you don't have the funds for a herc. I know I don't. Probably never will. But right now me and bubba do alright. ^^ Solo'd a boss that a cleric sat there and watched me laughing. Apparently the boss has killed her 3 times. Only pet I don't have is a water pet. I don't fight in the water much. So don't know if a water pet is needed. Anywhoz..good luck! *^.^* b:cute0

You will if you never level up those skills and save the coin and sp.Looking for a decent casual understanding Faction.0 -
In answer to your query about the water pet, the problem is there is no easy way to level one. Im still using a 57 mermaid and im level 74 on my veno. BUT, i just did a celestial plumpfish quest (they are level 80) by killing them with my flying pet after luring them to the surface, so your petite sawfly will be able to do this too.0

Yes, a properly carefully levelled up water pet would be better.
But it's a pain, since there's a couple of big level jumps in the available water monsters - and just taming a new pet when you need it is good enough. So that's what most veno's do.0 -
when you hit lv80, it is really worth it to get a Plumpfish. not only is it vital for your own quests, but you are a bigger help in Wraithgate, and can help lower level players with their quests.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
