normal attack for casters

the title says it all i think.. is it a good idea for arcane classes (wizard, psychic, venomancer, cleric, mystic?) to have a normal range attack? if you play Forsaken World, you know what i mean.. so if u ever play any of the casting classes you don't have to go upclose and personal or waste mana(wiz) with, say an instance boss, just to deal damage when u need to go afk.. bms, barbs, archers and assassins can use just normal attacks and still do massive damage why not casters have normal casting attack with no mana cost and fair damage?

who here agrees they need to change how a seeker carry a sword while holding? >.>

You could always just not level one of your skills and then it'll cost little enough mana that you can regenerate it as fast as you can cast it. (Heck, even fully levelled that's almost true of venomous scarab.)
Or you could equip a bow, or just run forward and hit the monsters, if you're really short of mana.0 -

i know, but that shouldnt be the only option.. slapping/poking the enemies though, doesn't even scratch them.. normal attacks shouldnt be limited to physical only.. i know what u guys think, maybe ur thinking just because a wiz hit that hard enough using skill will mean it will hit as hard for a normal magic attack.. normal attack doesnt hit as hard as any skills a melee and ranger has, of course that will apply to a normal magic attack as well..0 -

I always facedesk xD and My macros hardly break, also theres this thing called potions... you should look into them their so awesome! they give back mana like magic O: also Im a wiz so i got 12k mp buffed so mana really isnt an issue o.0

lol u dont get what im getting at.. im saying that if its possible to give casters normal magic attacks with fair damage (when i say fair, fair with the melee class but not equal in damage) and NO cost..
also i didnt say u run out of mana, i said u burn mana.. sure i know potions.. and dang most melees dont even need them cos they can do 500% damage at any boss without any cost of mana..0 -
just a suggestion. maybe have a skill that is available when the weapon is equip that does 1/2 the damage of the weapon and fires at the rate of the weapon's melee attack or slower, that way it don't fire to fast, and doesn't do an obscene amount of damage.
also, it can't be completely mana free, that's just unfair. maybe just make is a channeling skill with a very small mp consumption, like around 20-50 er something like that.
i can't think of anouther way to make it fair to have an auto attack on a magic class, but yeah, it would be nice, especially for people like me. meh parents hate videogames, and sometimes they come in the room, and i have ta minimize, and i'd like ta be able ta not completely bail on people in a boss fight.
it couldn't have just no consumption tho, and couldn't do full weapon damage, otherwise, people would cry OP, and i personally don't want anouther type of OP thread cloggin up the forums. just sayin....[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

In this game, a "normal" attack is defined as a melee attack without skills/ranged attack with a bow without skills. Unless you're a veno (especially a heavy veno) in foxform, it isn't worth it.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

of course it would always be nice to have magic auto attacks that dont burn mana, ive played some games that do that and i thought its a decent idea, hell even LOMA has it i think, mainly it would be useful when in the lower stages of levels, as MP burns so quick its not even funny, my level 24 psy runs out of mana after about 10-13 mobs or so depending, they take like 3-4 seconds to kill per mob, then i end up sitting there for nearly 3 minutes to regen, so over all, im spending most the time regening then fighting and that my friends, is boring as hell.
when i did this cleric, only reason i bothered to start was cos i had a mp charm to get through the terrible first levels, it ran out between level 50-60, but my regen was good enough to be fighting more then sitting or potting, eitherway, MP regen at low levels sucks insanely.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I'm guessing it would be a little like archers autoattacking, only with magical instruments that would throw like a simple magic ball or whatever (based on m.attk). The element of the attack could be based on the ''ammo'' you use (maybe like an orb or crystal or whatever that gives unlimited ammo and goes into the arrow slot, more expensive versions would give an m.attk bonus that only affects normal attacks). It's only fair that these attacks would cost mp though, maybe more depending on the grade of ammo you use.
The problem is that they would need to give magical instruments more range (like 20m) and remove the range from all skills (else you'd have like 50m of casting range) aswell as giving all caster classes a +range passive skill similar to archers.
Still, I'd like to have something like this. Seeing a mob with only a millimeter of health left when I can only nuke it for a third of its hp always kind of annoyed me...[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

Uh, no. It's what makes classes different and unique. If you're going to complain about each class not having the ability to do what another class can then I'd suggest you stop playing. Variety keeps this game interesting, when I get bored i often create an alt to experience another class. If it were all the same I would've quit ages ago.0 -

On veno its not the problem, couse my pet will just finish it... I can sit down and watch! But i played cleric and this is very annoyng! Must use skill for lame 30hp... b:angry
Also, the annoying thing in this game is to get a crit hit as the last one on mob, when he got like 200hp and all other hits are normal ._. but it's totally random ofc

I would love something like this for soloing bosses afk or w/e i played a few games like pwi that let the magic classes have a weaker auto attack it its balanced its not like you will see 5 aps clerics runing around the only thing i would hate is how the magic classes will get lazy as the phys ones if that gave us this
i seen how a few people would not like this can you tell me why? play a few other games like pwi and you will see it can be very balanced0 -

I'm going to say no, simply because it means that caster classes will get lazy, use this, and then have even fewer costs in dungeons. As it is, my Cleric has at max 15k repairs if its something like FC, and I still use very few MP foods, even when in BB or spamming IH. I only see this making some things worse. I've played a few games where they had this, and I do not like it personally.
I understand wanting something for when you have to go AFK over a long period of time, which is kind of why I wish add-ons were allowed. Sometimes a macro just can't cut it. However, I just see a lot of possible negatives coming from this. Many positives as well, but I just personally don't like how it can be abused by some.0 -
I get where you are coming from OP, having played a bit of FW and HOTK, you want each caster class to have a default class skill that fires off when you click the sword icon. Unfortunately the way the PWI game/skill mechanics work is a bit different from PWEs later games (different development team - long since gone) and I can't see PWE trying to make such a fundamental change with the team they have. not without breaking what is a fairly robust system (mechanically at least). Perhaps if they added a new skill to each class - that did somewhere around 50% of your base mag attack in damage, had 1 second channel, cast and coolcooldown (scarab speed) and either had a correspondingly low mana cost and could even be chi based - costs 10 chi to use, but makes 10 chi back when cast. So basically as long as you are attacking - you will have the resource available to use the skill. They could then set the skill up in a similar way to barrage etc, where you have to hit escape to stop attacking. Something along those lines?
HOTK macro system had some nice features - you could set time to pause between using each skill in a macro, and if you didnt have the equivalent of mp/chi to fire the next skill in your chain - it skipped passed it instead of just stopping the macro. it didn't go as far as the combat aid that BOI had (or the in game bots that ESO/JD have) - you still had to pot yourself lol

i like the idea myself, Ive also wondered why they haven't added it already. heck even low end games such as (R.S.) have a basic auto magic attack. i think a few people got what u was trying to explain wrong. The aim isn't in conserving mana its more for a less painful way to still stay involved in killing a boss. w/o the tiresome endless clicking. it would also seem that a normal magic attack would cause less aggro as compared to using skills. i think it would make things a lot easier on character such as psy for sure since they so OP that u have to wait till boss is at half hp to even attack0

If they will use MP charm, they can be AFK forever having good defense, tank or cleric (when tanking).
