Expel in TW?

For some reason when I try to use expel in TW, it fails. I have no problem using it outside in open pk.

I even select myself in TW and click the expel button so it's not like I'm trying to buff the attacker or even another squad member. Any one else have this problem and/or know the solution?

I'm guessing it has to do with the buff filter. I watched some TW vids of a cleric on a PVE server in TW and her expel works perfectly.

IDK about TW, but I have noticed on my Cleric in open world PK that Expel now cast on yourself if you target someone else and have the buff filer on, instead of just wasted as no effect on them if they have neutral buff filter on.

Yeah I know that. I don't try to expel people in open pvp. I was thinking maybe I had to turn off my neutral buff filter for TW? That was one of the possible solutions to the problem in my mind.

Although idk why neutral buffing myself would be a problem since obviously I clicked it. . .

Yea it does not work in tw. They probably did that to make sure no one abuses it so the main tank is always immune.

Exactly why I'm posing this question. I know it works. I'm hypothesizing it is related to the buff filter settings.

nah it has nothing to do with the buff filter. It only works if you're not a nub. That's why it doesn't work for me either.

I do not know about needing to turn the buff filter off, but I have gotten "target out of range" when trying to use expel in tw, when I had an opposing faction member selected and with my buff filter set for squad only.

I suspect that the underlying implementation variables, that the buff filter inspects are different (perhaps even irrelevant) in TW -- that the buff filter was only implemented to work in open PvP.

Anyways, I remember writing a trouble ticket about this and I got back a generic acknowledgement. I am not sure if the devs upstream would have gotten enough detail to isolate the problem.

Strange if having buff filter set to only you or faction etc messes with it. Cause thats how it works for clerics buff/heal. If sqaud/faction is selected in options, it casts on self. They some how screwed up expell ? Also dont think wizards have a need for squad/faction selected in the filter? So thats a fix for that.

I've experienced this in TW and PK before, the skill can work in either case. I think the problem has to do with the distance between you and the enemy target. The effective distance of the skill expel is 20 meters. Even if you select yourself as the target to use the skill, you have to be at least 20 meters from the target attacking you in order for the effect of expel to perform for pvp (for pve and outside of TW or not in pk - the skill works when ever you want it to regardless of distance).

I first notice this when killing sins and archers. I always have the filter on so that I cast expel on myself whether I have myself targeted or an enemy targeted for the effect. I realized that in the case with sins/melee enemies, I never had an issue with the skill expel not working. However, for archers (attacking me from 30+ meters away) it sometimes does not work - even if I had selected myself for the buff. Unless I am closer to them.

Always? It didn't always cast on yourself, with buff filter options, after they added in the neutral buff filter so Wiz/Archer can't just Expel someone and nuke away. I'm not sure when it started casting on yourself as a buff if you had filters. When they first added neutral buff filter, it just casts and does nothing on a target with the neutral buff block.

But anyways, it seems the skill is broken, so let's just remove it from the game b:pleased.
