What can be done about this?

A couple of faction my faction members and i were doing a bh in eden we had a few spots open and wc for people saying in the world chat. Free wine but drops go to winer.

During this BH a book dropped and went to one of the random people. I can't say who obviously. She wouldn't drop it and said she didn't know what we are saying bc she didn't speak english. We got in touch with her faction (one of the more well known ones on the server) and they said she spoke english fine and had had no problems talking to her in english before. But still we tried talking to her in her language.. i admit using single words. Ie. Libro = book. just to get the point across. Nothing worked.

Talking to a marshall in her faction he said she had asked them for a price check on the book (a sage plume shot) so she knew she had gotten it.

After about 20 mins of us trying to get the point across (my friends and the other 2 random people) and her own faction talking to her she left squad and disappeared.

We took screen shots of the whole thing, our conversations with her and the ones with the marshall of the faction.

What i would like to know is.. where do we stand with it. Bc its an online game there is no physical legal way of getting the book back on our own. Basically i would like to know the next step. Is this something we can ask GM assistance for? or is there nothing we can do and she can just take it and carry on doing it to other people she runs with.

While I sympathize with what happened, it was entirely your squad's decision to play the game with this individual. As such, I do not see the Gm's as having any cause to interfere with what transpired. Individuals are not beholden to an in-game agreement by anything but their own integrity. Sadly, integrity is sometimes hard to find in this community.

At least you know never to squad with this individual again. And while it is not allowed to "name-and-shame", I hear that word-of-mouth is an effective way of warning others not to play with dishonest people b:shutup

Unfortunately for you, and the person who wined the bh, dead it indeed right, other then the faction in question booting her from their faction, and her having a 'tainted' relationship with anyone that listens to your story, and believes it. There isn't much else you can do. The gm's are very unlikely to actually step in and take sides with something like this.

Even if you had definitive proof that she agreed to drops to winer, and that she was the one that ended up with said drop and left with it, I think the gms would liken this to a 'form' of hacking. (I am sure most people are aware of what happens to **** people, they very rarely, if ever see any of their items back, unless the re-work their *** of for it. )

I am sorry this happened to you, hope you all have better luck in the future with the free runs, sadly it's instances like this that make me very reluctant to wine bhs for free, let alone help. Just remember that not everyone out there is like the person who shall remain nameless on these threads from the looks of it. Good luck to them finding squads though, let alone remain in a "respectable" faction.

My friend had something similar happen, and she got on world chat and said "xxxx person steals drops in bh's after agreeing to winers drops!" the person who took the drops (molds in this case) was shamed enough from whispers to give them back.

I don't reccomend this path because... well it's kinda mean. That being said, the person doesn't deserve much better from taking the drops either...

if I wine for free it is only on faction only runs, even then the only thing I would be looking for is mold and a book if I can use it.

if I can't use it but the person picking it up can then they can keep it - it benefits the faction as a whole. if the person picking it up can't use it, i usually just say donate it to the faction bank - then someone will benefit from a cheap book and the faction gets some coin.

Sorry this random felt they needed to rip you off, but World Chat is a wonderful thing. Anytime you see them talking just WC "asking for the sage book back you thieving xxx" ;)

"What can be done about this?" Here are some suggestions:

    1) Create an alt and reach lvl 5 with it (the req'd lvl for using world chat). Now make deflamatory comments about the individual AND their faction in world chat (while I eat popcorn and giggle). By using your newly created alt to trash this thief and the faction that is protecting them, you won't tarnish your reputation in the process.

    2) If you notice this individual sets up a catshop, see to it that a Nein Beast is constantly parked on top of it. Note that there are several acceptable variations to this suggestion.

    3) Send this individual in-game mail constantly. Sadness card, arrow, 1 coin - whatever it may be, make sure that they receive at least 15 of these a day (for approximately 3 months or more).

    4) If you are really peeved, you can take it to a new extreme. Create a toon of the opposite gender of this thief. Work hard to become "romantically involved" with them. Ideally, work 'em for as many coins/items/gifts as you can. Then, when RL gets them down and they are vulnerable... break their heart into tiny pieces. Add salt for extra flavor.

    ---OR---

    5) Chalk it up as a learning experience, remember it's just a game, buy yourself some Anni Packs (or whatever substance it is you like to abuse), and move on with your adventure.

I believe the winer shouldn't get a Book worth millions from a bh 99, and that's why I either do a wine fee, or make random drops during my bh. Eventually the greedy will still lose out from others who share the belief. Someone wines the bh, cool thanks, but you're not getting a book worth 2M-20M just for wining 200k.

Let's see. Chance of a book dropping = 1%. Assuming that there is only 1 drop per run, thats paying 200k for 1% chance of getting any low level book. That is about 20 mil(100 runs) for 1 book in average.....Keep in mind, this is any book. And of course the drop rate is more than 1 per boss, so you see it is actually an OK price to join a free wined BH at the BH 99...

I agree with Dsholder, but the book in question dropped during bh 89, not 99. I checked price, and it looks like 975k on the low end in auction house. I suggest talking to the marshal in the faction and asking for a resolution; if he/she cares about said faction's reputation, it will be handled internally.

A while ago, I was an officer in Armagedon when it was still relevant. We had a similar issue, but with a cheaper item, worth only 200k or so. I just gave the cash to the person making the complaint, then told the thief he could either pay me back or get booted; he promptly left faction. 200k well spent, I say b:surrender

Ty all for posting.. ROFL'd at GoodStart. The faction we spoke to has indeed replaced the book. I must say my oppionion of the faction is very high due to the way it has been handled. The marshall we spoke to farmed the bh for it and then just bought it bc it was a pain in the *** to get as a drop.

The person who stole the book is still within that faction and according to the sources has been making the option of kicking her more and more appealing (don't know anythin more since its not my place to ask). I wish i could thank the marshall here and say how kind they have been but that would incriminate the faction :x.

With the larger factions nasty ones do slip in through the net occasionally and in this case i don't want to tarnish their reputation.

I will wait till the psy is kicked from the faction and then do options 1~4 on Starts list. With number 5 after i get bored.

Lol jk... i'm too nice i swear -_-'

I'll post from a random alt char just to conserve identities etc, simply because the OPer did.
I'm the director of said faction, & heard about the incident although I didn't actually have any part in the resolution, other than suggesting we buy the book for the injured party...
Of course, since there were no SS's of the original WCs or anything stating that the wine was indeed free with winer's drops, and the person in question said that they had understood it to be free drops or something, it turned into a He-Said-She-Said situation...
(With the rest of or most of the rest of the squad in a single faction, multiple people saying the same thing doesn't really hold much sway in this sort of a thing)

So of course, compensating the winer with the book is the obvious way of dealing with it, and she wont be kicked for this. However, it is a mark against her name which will be considered if anything similar comes up with her name being thrown around as a thief...

Apologies and thanks for how you've dealt with this, and I'm happy to see we choose our officers well, as although bad eggs can slip into a faction, it's the officers we need to make sure can uphold the faction's values

Actually no. When someone clicks on your name it's leading to your profile with ALL your characters, therefore you're actually showing who you are.

Not trying to flame or anything, I just decided that I should tell you.

I have respect for what the fact that the winer was compensated for the book, especially given that you say it was a "he said/she said" thing. The fact that you're giving the person another chance is nice too.

I like giving people second chances, and I hope the person learned their lesson.

I've seen more books drop than the actual 1% rate. Many of the bhs I go on books drop also 30k-35k fee isn't too bad, if people are looting most of the squad should get most of their coins back in DQs or 1 stars, or 3 star items. It's not that bad to charge a fee for the bh. I just know I'd never go on a free bh because I wouldn't want to give up the chance of getting a book. The only times I have gone on the free bhs though was when someone soloed them and wined they took 12-14 minutes per run so it was worth it then.
