So I'm an ex-WoW player, but due to cost I stopped playing. I was really impressed with the trailer for perfect world, so I downloaded it and man.. it looks awesome. I mean, I can't say for sure yet since I've not been playing long, but I might even enjoy it more that WoW

anyway, class choices - always an important decision
It's a toss up between wizard and clerical. What are the advantages/disadvantages of each? thanks, Khetsa x

Honestly, if you're just starting, I'd recommend a Venomancer or a Blademaster.

Venos used to be called "easy mode" (replaced by -int assassins (and BMs, coincidentally) apparently) for a reason. Blademasters have really good survivability and damage early on. Venomancers have a fairly easy time grinding for the first few levels, and then they get skills that let them easily grind indefinitely. Also, you probably won't have too many friends early on, so a character that can solo well is a good idea.

I'd recommend you get one of these characters at least to level 20 (preferably higher, but whatever) before deciding. Best case, you really enjoy it, and go with that. Worst case, you have a start for two of the best farming characters.

Speaking of farming characters, you'll probably need an alt BM or Veno (or just really good merchanting skills)* to afford to play a Cleric or Wizard.

But to answer from your two choices, I think Cleric is probably easier in the beginning, because they get a heal right at the beginning. Also, they are useful in nearly every squad situation (as long as they're good at their class).

Of course, maybe I just had an easier time on my Cleric because I knew the game better than when I started my Wizard (which was my first serious attempt at playing PW).

I say choose whatever you prefer, if you like Wizard, then play Wizard!!! Wizzy is pretty easy if you know how to kite and pay attention to the target mob's element. If you can't do these 2 things, it will be hard for you. Example: you shouldn't use water skill on a water mob, because you will do less damage. I find Wizard one of the easiest classes to lvl, I can pretty much 2-3 hit kill most mobs around my lvl. Make sure you get Jones' blessing HERE, it helps a lot (+30% damage)! :) Just use Gush - Pyrogram - Gush, they are fast and cheap skills and this combo works well until you get more expensive skills. Get Glacial Embrace for mana recovery. You'll have your own mana recover skills (Essential sutra, double spark, triple spark), so mana is not an issue for a Wiz after mid lvls! I almost never use MP potions anymore, and lvl75 mana food (recovers 5000 mana!) costs only about 600 coins each! You have a selfheal skill too, but if you kite you will rarely lose HP. We need more good Wizards! Good luck and have fun. :)

if you go wiz then i commend you. There are too few wizzs left in the game.

Be aware tho, wizzys are a HUGH mana drain so they cost alot in potions and such to upkeep for a while.

That being said, personally i wouldn't go with wiz only because they have been replaced by sins and psys b/c they do just as much or more than a wiz, so its hard to find squads as a wiz once you get higher lvl and get into bounty hunter quests and such.

Anyways, hope you find one you like and welcome to the imperfect world of Perfect World. lol
