Whilst doing FF on my 8x alt, I've heard quite a few people telling the squad not to cancel his channeling, because doing will result in him instant channeling.

Has anyone tested this?

Yep. Wizzies and Sins can troll FC groups so hard like this. Barbs too, if they're suicidal or have invincibility at the ready.

Btw for some reason invoke doesn't work on his aoe QQ.

Had an idiot BM in a 80-90 squad, and I had already learned how to tank via demon spark, anyhow back to point...

the idiot BM hit Shadowless Kick, interrupted channel, caused instant AoE. All but me and cleric dropped dead. I survived thanks to shocked reaction time of clicking Demon spark (I didn't even notice when i clicked it :s), spamming as many HP food/pots it would let me, hitting an apoc item I had on hand, and spamming my genie's healing skills.

Cleric just stood there and IH spammed himself.

Afterwards, I just charmed tanked the boss while cleric ress'd the rest and then barb proceeded to kick that BM outta squad once he got res'd. We brought in another lvl 90 and the rest of the run was history.

Isn't booting him kind of harsh?

I mean I know I screwed up and did that once on my wiz because no one ever told me he'd insta-channel.

    Yeah, just tell the guy.

Now if you've told him not to do it and he does, ok all's fair. But geez, going "You did something stupid even though you didn't know it was stupid" :: boots ::

Can't you feel the love? D:

I remember doing an FC with a random squad and getting this guy halfway dead. We had no trouble with the AoEs up to a point. Then, once after I waited a reasonable amount of time after the pink words (generally 10-15 seconds or so) I ran in. Suddenly, I was killed by the AoE that he had apparently not fired! My squad and I were kind of surprised, because he had actually run before I had gotten to him, then decided to stop and AoE. Needless to say, it was a rather frustrating death. b:surrender Anyone else have this happen, while we're talking about him?

And yes, cancelling his AoE is a bad idea. b:mischievous

Huh... I've never read about this before but will certainly tell squads I see on my alt. Whenever anything weird has happened with the timing of the AoE it's almost always been blamed on lag and nobody has mentioned this as a cause in the squads I've been in to date (a long time now).

Oh yeah that happens. Can be lots of fun too if you do it intentionally however plan on finding a new frost squad it you do that though. We had one that did once.

I've been in several squads that were wiped by that. I survive because I keep my distance and let the herc do his thing while I throw scarabs and what not. I am able to revive and resummon the herc before that boss kills me so I usually solo it until the cleric can get back to rez the squad.

I know the feeling. I mean wtf is with people who go afk at bosses? How about those who go afk every 5 to 10 minutes in frost.

Well the barb had the lead, plus I think he was already pissed off that I was tanking the majority of the time when it was suppose to be "his job". (lol)

I just told him to suck it up and if he kicked me he could say hello to nobody wanting to take him through FF anymore. (Gotta love the world chat function xD?)

Anyhow, he took his anger out on that BM. Personally I wouldn't of kicked him, but told him he was an idiot and if he did it again he'd be gone.

Well, you learn something new every day.

I do know that you can sometimes, if you are lucky, purge his buffs and avoid him doing an AOE completely.

Only ever managed to get the timing right once, however, and if you fail you're right where you don't want to be, so I don't really see a way to learn it.

    ^ This.
In my first ever frost run today, mostly things were going smoothly, except the barb got lost a few times xD I think it was his first time too. Then we got to 'ol Slashie. He did his super powerful whirly AoE thing. I was a bit surprised at first because I didn't expect him to yell so fast! :o

After awhile I had gotten used to it and how far to run back etc, when he began to do his whirly super AoE (he was at about 3/4 health). After SLASH, I waited a few seconds for him to fire off his AoE then ran forward again as I usually do. I got within spell range then suddenly, dead.

I was really confused by this as I was 25m away (I know his range is something like 28m). Bad news is I wasn't the only one to die; there was pretty much a party wipe because we all thought it was safe to run back. After that the sin left, followed by tank and cleric D:

Does his AoE lag sometimes? b:shocked

I sure hope not. I was really looking forward to this frost, becuase I'd have finally gotten enough SP for my 79 skills. b:surrender

I'm surprised so many people didn't know this.

I can't tell you how many times I've run into barbs who tried to cancel his super with alacrity, and not long after the TB expansion, sins trying to knife throw him causing partywipes or near partywipes until they weren't so stupid as to realize interrupting channeling on Runewolf while casting his super thing is a dumb idea when anyone is in range of it.

Sometimes Runewolf will be in the middle of channeling another spell when he starts his "super" thing. He finishes it off, then starts actually channeling it, in that case. I've seen occasions where he started saying SUPER but was still just beginning his jog after someone for the "Swallow your enemy whole!.." random seal he does, so people got confused that he was doing a running SUPER basically. However, he still stopped to channel his spell. The two things to look for are 1) him saying SUPER, and 2) what he's really doing. Once he's put his arms to the side, did his arm twitch, the moment when he advances upon a player in the squad is when it's safe to go after him again. When he's doing his deadly AOE's he's going to be sitting in place doing them and not moving at all.

If you do FF on your veno, as far as your own self goes, presuming you're a magic build, you just re-position yourself every time he moves around, to be at your max venomous/ironwood/lucky scarab distance and his deadly AOE's won't even hit you -- you can just keep casting while he goes nuts.

If your having trouble with Runewolf.

Simple thing to do if you're still around him.

Make sure your genie has "Tree of Protection" as a skill if your a Barbarian and when he gets down to the final word in the list and he starts throwing the spell hit the "Tree of Protection" thing.
This is only if you can't get away.

You could also use Samara's Wheel alternatively if you get caught in it.

Also **Don't use "Alacrity of the Beast" when he AOEs cause this will cancel his area-of-effect attack and make him start over. Also same goes for you Assassins as well. Don't cancel the AOE. Run away.

Herb pots like the invulnerability pots don't work either as his attack bypasses these.
Time won't wake/make you wiser, but it will definitely wound you.

I think it`s like gambling, 90% of the time he will instachannel, but that 10%, ppl get packs with severly lower chances to win. I have accidentally cancelled him "few times" as kitty tends to alacrity for chi when he doesnt cancel, oh well, he wont aoe always.

The point is it is advisable not to cancel his AOE cause it triple shoots most of the time. Thus wiping your party. But it does make a good move for any **** bags in the party who give smart mouthed talk to the Barb in the party, when you're at Runewolf. b:laugh

No.... Invulnerability pots work, perfectly fine.

If they "Bypass" it, you were dead before you hit the button, and the animation still went off before the server rebounded the "You died mate" info. Sucks, but thats life.

Lol! 1st frost was a blast for me too.

What I do is wait for slasher to start running after his slash AoE before I bolt in to amp Damage and run back and lob scarabs. As soon as I see the chant start I call the herc back and run back out of his range. Sometimes lag prevents me from calling the herc back fast enough so if I don't think he's going to make it I unsummon him and resummon after I run back a bit.

I buff him as I send him back.

Of course, there are times when someone tried to cancel his channeling and caused a party wipe. Like I stated earlier I'm usually far enough away that I don't get hit but he kills my herc. I use bramble hood and absolute domain if I need to while reviving and summoning the herc and send it back to slasher while I'm frantically buffing and heaing him.

There's been 5, maybe 6 times I have had to finish slasher solo because someone did a channel cancelling thing on him. A cleric was able to get back and rez the squad just as I had it from 500K to 40Kish.
