Advice?

Hey forum I am a returning player I've been gone about a year and was looking for advice.

I know that the -aps is a big now so as a non cashshopper I feel like I am pretty limited in choosing my class.

I really like the bm/sins but I feel like it would be pointless in playing if I can never be use full without full -aps or is it possible to grind my way to them without csing? Also this is from a pve only stand pont so if axes still have a place in pve could someone enlighten me?

or should I just roll a cleric/barb so I'm actually useful?

    Just pick a class you like, don't pick another class because you think you will be able to achieve PW CSer standards.

    I did something similar to that once and picked a class that i thought i could be useful, kinda hated being a cleric. Not bashing on them but not the class for me, always buffing and healing other people and getting ppl mad because someone died because i was trying to prevent a party wipe out or trying to revive someone. Sorry i think I'm to selfish to be a cleric but do love them ^_^v.

    But it's up to you, if you feel like you'll be the best cleric/barb and have fun with them, then go for it.

    But if i need to chose one I would say cleric because from what i seen there really isn't that many around. (Then again that's on my server)

    PvE servers do indeed allow you to just ignore the aps muppets and have your own fun.

    ..anyway, Fuzzy would agree with the other people that have replied. If you want to role a magic based character instead of melee and have limited playing time, it is probable that a Cleric would be the easiest class. In terms of easiest, Fuzzy mean that you will never have trouble finding a squad to progress your character through fb's etc. Who doesn't want a good healer in their party?

    There has also been mention of rolling a PvE server, and this also is pretty sound advice. Not that a PvP server isn't fun, many players swear by it, it just that in the panda's experience, with limited play time, it will drastically slow your progress. Archosaur and Raging Tide are the newest PvE servers (and arguably least populated) which may or may not make things easier. Less players does equal fewer squads doing instances, however, the flip side may be more demand for your class. Fuzzy supposes that could be argued endlessly.

    In the end, the simple answer is to just dive in and try both a cleric and a wiz. Play both for a little while and Fuzzy suspects soon enough you will discover which you want as your main character.

    Most of the runs on my server they want a minimum of 3.33aps for sins/bms. However, there are a few groups who will run a no aps requirement run of many things. Nirvana being one. Lots of farming can help, people do tell me it IS possible to farm all the money for your gear, it just takes a bit longer.

    And I started out as pure axe build and everyone was giving me reasons against it which quickly turned me around into fist/axe. Because a axe bm won't meet in game aps requirements for most meaning it will be much harder to get a squad. That and without dex add ons later on, you tend to miss your target a lot, which, then costs you more pots to kill the mob you keep missing.

    The one thing I do like about axe bms though is they can tank pretty well, being a fist/axe my health and defense is lower then axe builds therefore I am more of a support then I tank. I can tank some. Downside to that is, a fist bm will have to wait a bit before attacking because aggro wise. If both bms attack at the same time, fist will steal aggro.

    Though, a pre-caution with a cleric. I love clerics, and I'm not rude, who wants to **** of the cleric that's reviving you, right? Though, many people in game will snap at you. I was playing a cleric and this guy just tells me "heal me" (and he is a cleric too) so I did for one mob to be nice but told him I had to go (was trying to do my own quests lol) and he just goes "Great" like it was my JOB to heal him, if you're not in my squad, it is not my job. If I see you dying and your in the area.. that's different. But some people treat clerics real mean :| Hopefully you won't run into much of that. Clerics are by far the most wanted characters in the game (at least on my server, I would assume so on others, but I can't say for sure). Sometimes it's impossible to find them it seems lol.

    thank you all for the sound advice it was really what I was looking for I guess I will just try them both and see what I like. I really like that you all answered every aspect of my question too I really appreciate that b:pleased

    Edit: oh and what about barbs? are they very good for non cash shoppers or do bm just steal agro while tanking?
