oke let me explain what's wrong, because my english isn't really good, i pressed direct download, it downloaded to my documents/downloads
when the download was done i went to my documents/downloads/pwi rising tides, and then i press install, but it doesn't show up, i let my firewall accept it but when i press install it still doesn't work, i don't have a antivirus or something.
So i don't really know what the problem is, could you explain what i need to do?

thanks

I think i know the problem, i have 2 firewalls on, but that's weird because i already uninstalled my norton internet security so the firewall should be gone too doesn't it? my windows firewall says the norton firewall is still activated, but i have no clue how to get it off. since my norton is already uninstalled....

    so what do i do?

Neither the Windows or Norton firewall blocks the installer. Try running the installer as Administrator. To do this, right click installer.exe and select "Properties". On the "Properties" window, find the "Compatibility" tab and check the box that says "Run this program as an administrator".

    What OS are you running?

    What are your system specs?

Two firewall softwares at once is a bad idea, they will conflict and definitely slow your system down even if they don't. (at least on the same system, I run 3 firewalls, but two are hardware based on my routers)

There is no real way to uninstall Norton, it infects your system like a virus. Search the Norton site for their clean uninstaller, you may have to submit a support ticket with them to get it.

Do you have a virus scanner? By your initial post you don't seem to be sure about that.
Take the time to look for your answer before you post like an idiot.

    And then there is us.

i have windows vista, i did uninstall norton with the configuration system because my computer can't find anyting about norton wich is a good thing i hope.
I even but my UAC off, but can't still install it, i put the documents in

    computer/date E/program files/Pwi

i could install norton again to put out the firewall of them, maybe that would help, but this has never ever happend to me before, so i don't quite understand what's happening in here, i do know i have succesfully 3 times downloaded pwi, since i had norton i couldn't so i think norton is the real problem here not?

    Computer/Data E/program files/ pwi

Once it is done it should work. i'll let you know more when it's done

Ozimov sorry but your wrong it's easy to uninstall under add/remove programs that link only gives the option to really re-install if it fails installing...

Ozimov provided the proper link. It's designed to completely remove the software and all remnants.

Alli is right. Using Add/Remove programs to uninstall Norton DOES NOT actually remove it. It removes some of it, but it still leaves many remnants behind, including some of the CPU hogging processes.

That's why you should use the uninstaller in the link provided INSTEAD of using Add/Remove Programs.

This is another good uninstaller that will actually remove Norton.
    http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Uninstallers/Norton-Removal-Tool.shtml

I also use a tool called Perfect Uninstaller.

The whole point here is that SOMETHING is preventing the software from loading. The problem isn't with the file itself.
It's most likely that it is something from your security software, (which happens to be the severely bloated and overly effective Norton product), is preventing it from running. Likely because it's mis-interpreted something from the files that's coded in Chinese. (China is where the largest number of viruses come from. Even the government supports viral attacks on countries.)
