you know we should have a contest to predict how fast a thread gets locked.

edit: btw, everything...and i do mean everything, is potential flame-bait for HT people, ijs.

The more thread being locked the more flaming and trolling it will be in here.. Happened last time and it will probably happen again...

I do think topics shouldnt be closed as fast, better to try to get the topic back on track and use closing as a last resort if its something really bad going on.. Usually we have our arguements but its rarely any bad behind it, we usually get a long I guess..

So please leave a few topics open or this will become a mayhem of spam and **** b:cry

I kind of miss the days where we joked about mods and gms being myths and it was partly true cause they didnt show up. Ht has been the same for as long as i remember, we can be a bit mean to each other but most of the time we mean no real harm.Leave us be,let us do our thing and only lock what gets out of control.

    Dear Shelly

you claim to be a HT player. If you ever visited the HT forums before being a mod you should know that us, HT forum posters love to have fun on the forums and not only use them for things like "hi guys im new, can u do my fb19?" or "Hello all im lvl 100 archer full dex and hp shards, can some1 tell me whats todays bh?". We like to discuss and bash eachother, after all this is the fun we can have when we are not logged in game or cannot acces game. Keep closing threads after threads coz they r potential flame baits is like closing the HT forum itself. Its ur srv's forum so you can say whatever you wanna say, is what u said in another topic. So true... but remember it is our srv's forum too so we can say what ever we wanna say, as long as it is not flaming, insulting or shaming any1. sarcasm and irony are the weapons ppl use on forums since we have no nirvana weapons or r9 here, so would you please let us feel free to post and say whatever we wanna say as long as it doesnt turn into insulting or rude posts? Just because something is a potential flame topic doesnt mean 100% it will turn into one or that this will be something to damage our forum/gameplay. As you might have noticed in the last topics ppl here on HT forum are not happy about you shutting our mouths off everytime we wanna start a fun/interesting/active topic to bring our srv to life. Ironic or not the most populated IG srv has the lowest forum activity because we are not allowed to speak.

    Sincerly yours,

What Andro said in her post was entirely correct. This is just how we talk. We understand that we need to follow forum protocol, and we respect it. However, I think the topic of *flame-bait* is too often used. We know how to control ourselves like adults. For example: Monof's recent thread was okay in my eyes because it started gossip about our server, and it's just talk about what we do. (too tired to think correctly so zzz) Nothing was wrong with that thread. It could have turned into just talks of guild drama and what not. You need to realize that this is how we have always been, and we know how to control ourselves. Give us a try and we can show you that we can have a somewhat heated argument, but at the same time be civilized about it. Just let ONE topic go, and you'll see that nothing terrible will come of it.

Also, Grim, your post, as a moderator is intolerable. You can not freely go around and tell people to not say something because you yourself do not like it. That is power abuse.

There's a difference between Moderator GrimReaper talking, which is what you made it seem as, and Person GrimReaper talking. If you meant to just make that a personal request, you should have specified because you need to remember that when you have power, people will always see your comments as literal and sometimes power abuse. They will not notice you asking for yourself to do/not do something unless you say it to them, that you are GrimReaper talking, not Mod GR talking. As a faction leader, I know all too well that when I say something, people take it the wrong way just because I'm in charge, and then when I tell them *Nono, this was me making a personal request, not me telling you to do it because I'm the leader*, they better understand what I'm trying to say, and they can respect what I have to say more.

If you understood that? Just trying to help you out.

First of all the word 'fascism' has nothing to do with the forums since it's a political ideology. I`m not going to talk about it's goals and ideas, because it is forbidden by the forum rules, but you should know them since you are using the word, no ? ( it's another question if you use it, but you have no idea what it is about )

Nobody here is trying to force any ideas or rules close to the ideas of the fascism. You perfectly know what this ideology did in the past and it's a common sense that it will be found offensive by some of the posters here on the forums, plus it is forbidden with law in many countries all over the world.

    12. No inappropriate discussion types.
Inappropriate discussion-types include, but are not limited to, the following discussion types: Politics, Religious issues, Abortion debates, etc. Common sense should dictate what is appropriate or not.

Don't you think that you should not use that word since it's political stuff, eh?

Technically, fascism isn't strictly a political view point. It is, however, any ideology, movement, program, tendency, etc, that may be characterized as right-wing, chauvinist, authoritarian, etc. So, for example, an individual asserting power, or seemingly asserting their power, can be viewed as fascist. It is most termed as politics due to the political movement that took place in Italy in the early 1900's, but it is not necessarily being used in the political sense.

    (I'm just saying).

You guys can believe what you want, but our goal as moderators isn't to kill certain forums. And to the earlier post about letting topics "have a chance to develop"; I believe that we could lock every thread in here if we were to get really strict on forum rules. We allowed the "HT: Forums finally dead?" topic to stay open, and Frankie eventually came in himself and closed it.

Rather than thinking that we are trying to censor your forum out of existence, try thinking about it from our point of view. When something goes wrong on the forums, and someone doesn't like it, the ripples (or, should I say tsunamis) come right at us, the people who are volunteering to work; so instead of allowing that to happen, we attempt to nip the problem in the bud. We aren't trying to wantonly censor you...we are just trying to do what is best for the community.

with all do respect, ppl from HT expressed their will to be free to speak. we are mature enough to tell right from wrong especially now that we know we are watched... i think mods themselfs take this duty of watching over the forum a bit too serious. we can sit here and type all day long how we would wanna be free to speak without having the mod's fists shoved into our mouths with the classical "closed for potential flame" and you telling us all over again how u only do ur duty and dont mean to shut our mouths off... or we can give some credit to eachother and let things develop the way they used to. Just because ppl argue or debate something doesnt mean they flame each other or insult.

Except none of the threads that were closed weren't bad and weren't flame baiting. Granted yes I am not a mod, however I have had the experience of moderating as well as running my own forum for a few years, and none of the recent thread closures were even close to flame baiting. All it was just a little fun.

As for doing "what's best for the community" isn't always what's best for the community as a whole. The community knows, in this example the regulars or rather veterans of Heaven's Tear, what's best for the community. They've seen every single thread known to the server and know what happens, etc. We're not some stupid mindless drones who don't know what we're doing so much that we need mods to govern what we should say and how should we act. Which is exactly what you're doing.

If you really want to help the community, then lurk and wait for when someone really trolls and flames *cough* Lutricia from Harshlands *cough*

I'm curious about how many of you know of a term, often used in courts, called "precedent". Let me give a definition really fast, for those that don't (and I prefer Webster's):

    Main Entry:prec-e-dent
    Function: noun
    Date: 15th century
1 : an earlier occurrence of something similar
2 a : something done or said that may serve as an example or rule to authorize or justify a subsequent act of the same or an analogous kind <a verdict that had no precedent>
2 b : the convention established by such a precedent or by long practice
3 : a person or thing that serves as a model

I personally have gone through the various parts of this whole forum, reading threads from the past, and I have seen "harmless, bashing-in-fun"-type threads that have been left to themselves, which have devolved into flame-wars and trolling. That set a precedent. If something starts to seem like flaming, then it should be closed, because of what has happened with things like it in the past.

If you look through the other parts of this forum, you will see that you are not being singled out. Every part of this forum is getting the exact same treatment, and parts of this forum are thriving because of it. Yet, you still ask us to give you guys special treatment, because of what you were in the past? I'm sorry to break this to you, but our job isn't to keep these forums where they are; rather, our job is to move these forums forward. My ultimate goal would be to see you guys able to moderate yourselves, too. However, this will never happen if you aren't willing to follow the forum rules as enforced by Frankie through us.

We aren't the bad guys...we are just here to help.

You seem to be doing one heck of a job to make them look bad. Kritty clearly stated that he was providing the definition for those that didn't know. If you have an issue with information being given out, too bad for you.

To be left alone would of itself be special treatment. These mods haven't left any part of these forums alone, apparently much to the chagrin of the flamers. And following your line of logic, we don't need GMs monitoring in-game (which, by the way has been a hit topic since they stopped doing it as much) because we have a "Report hacker" button in-game and a ticketing system out of the game, right?

Wrong. A quote I like to quote says, "All evil needs to flourish is for good men to stand by and do nothing." Sadly, this applies all too well to these forums. If someone sees something hitting the fan, they either 1) join in because it's the "cool" thing to do, or 2) leave it alone and avoid it in the future. Rarely anybody uses that Report button, because getting a thread that is being used by the so-called "cool" people on the forum closed isn't well thought of.

Sorry to say it, but your points are pretty lame, and your attacks just more reinforce my beliefs that these mods are doing a fine job.

No common sense would be to understand that this thread really has nothing to do with you unless you have a character on this server and understand what is actually going on, instead of jumping in and being one of the mods obsessive fanboys.

Again common sense would say that if the mods are doing such an upstanding job, then we the members/players shouldn't report anything that breaks the forum rules because they have such great forum rule breaking detectors. :| Even though subsequently they break the rules themselves.

But that is when a " good " mod's job starts. They are their to moderate the extremes, to help a debate move along without it delving to the depths of a school yard squabble and to only step in if it does ( It's handy to be able to edit others posts )

No offence intended to yourself or any current Mod but any chimp with a keyboard can close a thread, only a good moderator can actually moderate rather than take the cheap and lazy way out with closing threads.
