The only one I can really think of where you have an equal shot at the top prizes is the Jungle Ruins event, since that appears to be more about luck, skill, and patience.
Also, I finished 8th in Archers on Harshlands, and got 12 Celestial Insignias. Wasted a fair bit of time at the beginning trying to find the NPC, then the mobs though, and I think with proper planning I could manage a bit higher. Non-cash-shopper, though I am a reasonably competent merchant and have a +6 Lunar Bow, Demon Quickshot, and -0.20 of interval not including the bow.
Oh finally, I believe as long as you have over 2000 contribution points you get one of these. That's basically a 60% chance of 1.5 free Hypers and a 20% chance of 2 free Hypers. I fail to see what's so bad about that, though I don't know how difficult it is to get over 2000 points without being a high level.
I wish the events would scale to level ranges like Public Quest does.. too bad no1 ever goes down there lol. And since im a cleric with no speed boost gear, and only a genie skill for running (holy path) i dont expect to be very good at jungle ruins. at least i can still win the snake island horse race!! haha too bad they dont give event botique rewards for that >.> which i might add they should[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
Thanks XRipetidex for the awesome sig!

There's nothing "bad" about those prizes per say. Seeing as they're probably better than the insignia in terms of usefulness. Since you need near 3000 of those and have to pay a 40 mil fee to get the Cloudcharger cape.
The difficulty lies in getting 2000 contribution points. Unlike the Nein event which gave you an optional NPC quest to do, the Tiger event is purely DPS based. So, unless you do crazy damage, and are able to out-nuke a lot of the other players killing the mobs, you'll just end up getting around 20 contri-points per kill (like me). Which will tally up around a total of 1200-1700 points.
That's pretty ****ty since tank/hybrid built barbs can't out DD anything unless we Arma everything in sight, which still takes a couple of minutes per use. Some people risk to employ me
Some people live to destroy me
Either way they die0 -
The city elders gives the quests. b:quiet The quests are expensive though and/or give low points. Probably good enough for an extra push to 2k I guess.0

It's their own fault if they don't read forums; no one's gonna spoon feed everything in the news in real life to people. It's fair if people who don't use what's available to their best advantage get screwed over. That's life. You don't complain that more educated people in real life are making more money than you, or that's it's unfair that people smarter than you get better opportunities for colleges and scholarships.
So what are you saying? People who use this forum regularly are much smarter than those who don't?TheDan - Sanctuary wrote: »Please be considerate to other classes? Do you not realize the prize distributions are class specific? My 5 APS DDing BM won't affect the prizes of wizards/clerics/venomancers that don't use my weapon. I only compete against the same class, not other classes. People doing BETTER damage and BETTER overall contribution to the event should be getting BETTER rewards. That's just how competition works. The BEST competitor who deals the BEST damage for each class, will get the BEST rewards.
Do you realize that the more hp a 5 aps char chip away from a boss, the less hp others have a change to take a whack at it? It's not just competition among your own class.TheDan - Sanctuary wrote: »Take it from a biology standpoint; only the organisms best adapted to their environment tend to survive and transmit their genetic characteristics in increasing numbers to succeeding generations while those less adapted tend to be eliminated. People with greater niches than you (your character class), will compete for the same resources (event prizes). The better competitors get more resources, the ones who fail to compete will die out.
Well thanks for the bio lesson, that's some nice way of putting it: "the ones who fail to compete will die out" = the ones who can't DD well enough so just not do the event.0 -

Smarter? No. Better informed? YesNeodaystar - Sanctuary wrote: »Do you realize that the more hp a 5 aps char chip away from a boss, the less hp others have a change to take a whack at it? It's not just competition among your own class.
Yeah, but it's equally less across all classes. You compete for what's remaining. If I deal 15% HP of one of the eight bosses, the other classes will still be dealing damage on the same remaining 85% HP left on the boss. It's all luck based, people who go to bosses that die slower will have more time to contribute to killing the boss. It's not all 5APS... there's only a handful of 5 APS. Take into account that 200-300 people are participating, and no matter what, 10 5APS DD won't out DD 200-300 other people combined.Neodaystar - Sanctuary wrote: »Well thanks for the bio lesson, that's some nice way of putting it: "the ones who fail to compete will die out" = the ones who can't DD well enough so just not do the event.
Yeah, that sums it up pretty much. The ones that don't DD enough will in turn need to gear up more or try harder next time if they want to be able to contribute more. But this isn't always the case. Random contribution of 0-2K can be a big factor in determining rewards.BM PvP Guide: pwi-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=1320761

This event is awesome.
Can't stack quests, can't squad for tons of contri at last 8 bosses, so the barbs that beat me in NQ don't stand a chance against me anymore.
And since our server only have 3 barbs with claws and stacked -int gears, one of which isn't able to make the event, only one person on our server that can beat me.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Maybe just you since you're +10, but I can't picture myself out-DDing the combined DD of people in the ratio of 1:20 or 1:30 lol.BM PvP Guide: pwi-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=1320761

Personally I felt I did poorly compared to the first time I did this event as I picked a spot with a lot of competition.
Unfortunately seeing as this is still early days for this event, it is hard to understand where is a good spot to be.
I'm sorry that you didn't do as well as you hoped to.
Regards.

Xarathox - Dreamweaver wrote: »It's not "impossible". It's just that you need to have one of the highest DPS's on your server to compete. And that usually entails being a 5.0 aps class, or a heavy cash shopped mage class.
I think that only applies to 5 APS classes, and not necessarily lol. A veno asked my hubby yesterday why did I outDD her. She had a +10 Sinrabansho with 2 sapphire gems while I only have a +7 fate denial: Godspeed. I got first place by 2K points and got 69 random contribution in the end.
For other non-5 APS classes, don't lose hope xDOriginally Posted by Curses - Harshlands

The mob phase has you killing mobs until the number 4999 is reached.
Nice post but where does the "Mobs" spawn??! and i dont mean the Bosses.
Asking ingame does not help, cause you get no reply at all & asking support gives you no reply either on mobs.

This is really NOT a good guide.
Let this sink, someone write a real guide, or I may have to just for the lulz.
On second thought, I'm not bored enough to write one.I post in forums. This one and others. That's why I post.0 -
This was a guide? I thought it was a let's all post stuff remotely related to the post above yours thread, and the kick-off topic was Celestial Tiger.0

LOL? The real question should be where don't they spawn? b:laugh They're literally everywhere across Etherblade, Lost City, Plume and Raging Tides.BM PvP Guide: pwi-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=1320761

What he said. I got busy with school and such and couldn't be arsed to do anything with it after summer ended.
I'm pretty sure the wiki actually has a much more comprehensive guide there.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

Yeah, at the time of the writing the cloudcharger was worth a bit more and the fee to make it was unknown.
I guess I'll edit that bit out.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

Visit the PWI wiki for the useful information. Stay at the PWI wiki for the pie. ;-)0 -

looks like another impossible dream that requires a lot of cash shop manipulation and or gold.
but remember PWI is still free.

The really dumb thing is that Celestial Tiger is all about free items, free Gold, and free experience for even the most unskilled and ill-equipped of players. I don't think the necromancer could have picked a worse example, since Celestial Tiger is the exact opposite of what they were trying to complain about.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
