Do we need it to compete these days?

    At least for me yes, i dont want to be like everybody else, i like to be different, so im going for nirvana 2nd recast sphere instead of r8 =p Thats all =D

    first of all: yes, the best is full r9, +12 everything, and a selection of vit stones/citrine gems/garnet gems, cube neck g16, ence's scar/nirvana helm, cloudcharger/nirvana cape, alms bowl.

    imho that's not a build, having the best of everything is obviously the best. moving on:

    weapon-wise:
    atm, getting anything else but r8 is a waste.
    r8 is cheap, spend the extra money in refines/shards.
    g15 nirvana has a chance to be better that r8.
    imho, a psy should focus to get a +12 weapon for endgame
    so a cheap r8 will enable to spend the extra money for refines.
    now if u can buy r9 +12, sure.

    armor-wise:
    we are talking about second recast. first recast = tt99... ew.
    unless u are a -chan freak or u like dex
    the question is, is nirvana armor with immaculates +4 better than some oht+tt90+molds with gems and +6? start with ur budget and find out. nirvana armor is shiny, has set bonuses but geting it and sharding with flawless is a waste.

    personally i'm not doing anything till the expansion. i can pew pew and debuff those EQ barbs just fine.

    well, depends on what u mean compete. will i ever compete with a r9+10,+12 weapon psy? no, even if i have nirvana.
    will i avoid being a one-shot from a warsoul bow? from a r9 wizzie? nah.
    will i be wanted in money making squads? no.
    i dont play this game to compete against everyones mastercard.
    i play to have fun, fight with people that have similar gear to mine, have fun in TW
    pve is easy (delta is somewhat a challenge, aoe grinding in vos is fun and one wrong step results in death).
    i have a role in TW and i try to fullfill it.

    i simply refuse to play with sins; if they kill me, w/e, i'm not gonna bother with a guy that comes next to me, double sparks, stuns me and go 5aps; i can write a program to do that and do it even better than him.

    do we need nirvana to compete? considering a lot of our skills revolve around soulforce, no, r8 w/ big refines will defiantly get u buy, perosnaly tohugh i perfer r9 to nirvana(dbl cast), cheaper, better add ons, and better set bonuses ^^, even tohugh i was only able to merch enough coin for the ring and 2 amror pieces thoguh =(
    full 3r9 +11/12 (still using immac shards though) w/o CSing, leveled to 105 spaming pv, yes i have no life =D

    Nirvana, not my way on psy...

    I ll go to R9, may be helm Nirvana but not my priority, i use Warsoul of heaven at the moment. I only have 99 Wrist and i go Neck in near future.

    I think I would go rank 8, personally.

    If rank 8 is absolutely not an option, but Nirvana is, then I would say Nirvana is the way to go. Also, there are rumors of something like "third-forge Nirvana" coming in the Genesis expansion (the refining that can only be done in guild bases). Rank 8 equipment is not eligible for this sort of re-casting, but Nirvana is always open to the possibility of a future upgrade.

    ya im F2P to thats y i think r8-9 better, hell of a lot cheaper >_>
    ~70mil(durin sale time) for intire r8 set(-gloves/boots) < 100mil+ per nirvana piece or
    ~70mil per r9 armor piece < 100mil+ per nirvana piece......(course u gotta include price of ring and rep, but if u acaully have the coin to get nirvana pieces, u might as well go for the better armor...)

    this ^ = one of few reasons to acually get nirvana atm...(another reaosn of course would be like they never plan on bringin rep/chip sale back ever agian...)
