Botting at West Archo Crossroads

I've seen a few bots over the course of the past few years, but I just have to chuckle about the one I've been watching now for awhile (as a West Archo cat-shop, of course...)

If you go on Sanctuary right now, there's a Veno standing smack-dab in the middle of the West Archo crossroads, never moving. But exactly every 10 seconds her pet auto-targets the nearest snowman and attacks it.

I guess the botters figure there's no need to even hide what they're doing anymore. It's not really a good sign of the times when people will blatantly bot in the most populated spot in the entire game for such a tiny reward.

Hardly surprising. Ever since tabbing to mobs has been available, I've been accused of botting on my veno because she'd sit in the same spot and have pet attack (usually ranged like a cactopod) -- was leveling my celestial sting when not doing Nirvana or FF and was accused at least twice of being a botter by some dimwit whiner because he/she couldn't kill snowmen faster than a pet.

I find the chutzpah of the perpetrator rather amusing.

A lot of changes to the game have been done in the name of fighting the PW-China bots, despite the fact that PWI has been relatively bot-free. But with the introduction of the DQ-rewards system a bot on PWI could now potentially generate more real-world income than a PW-China bot could.

I'm hoping the bot I saw today was just an aberration, and not a sign of things to come.

    DQ drops =/= DQ rewards

Bots don't just bot for real world income though, most (if not all) of the very few bots in PWI do it for their own benefit anyway. West Archo would actually be a good spot to do it too when you think about it, most people there have their graphics set to low and you wouldn't stand out in the crowd that much.
Only I guess people here are a bit more observant than expected b:chuckle

    DQ drops =/= DQ rewards
The DQ rewards system combined with the Rank 9 sale has driven up the market price of DQ drops. The result is that you can sell DQ reward points for 500 coins each or more, which makes botting potentially quite lucrative on PWI.

Fortunately, the average botter tends to be none-too-creative. In all the games I've played over the years almost every bot I've ever seen has been an otherwise skill-less player trying to cheat their way past their own shortcomings. China, on the other hand, has professional botters who are quite skilled and know exactly what they are doing.

If you suspect of someone for botting, take screenshots (or a video capture - upload to YouTube, save as Unlisted and link to it in your ticket submission) and send a ticket here: http://support.perfectworld.com/

As long as this topic isn't naming and shaming anyone, It can stay open for discussion purposes. Keep it like it. b:thanks

Oh like that. Yeah I guess I took that other post the wrong way then.

I just hope it won't get too lucrative, if you know what I mean.

I have seen a few bottlers around grinding snowmen, mostly in south archosaur near the zoologist. However, all the ones I have seen are dumb bottlers because they don't pick up any of their drops. Those were just people who wanted to level easily.

yeah there are a few botters out there to be sure - but there are a damn sight more grinders too- i myself was asked if i was botting while grinding snowmen to level a pet- to which i replied that if i was botting do you think i would respond to your pm!-most botters that i have seen are non responsive to pms and the like, most venos tab alot on grinding- its a pain to level a pet at most times- the snowmen are a handy extra for us. I learnt about botters from a famous hamster who once roamed these forums- he had a great insight into botters and ways to deal with this issue. Long Live teh Hamster- you are missed my friend.....b:sad

I miss him too, he made us wizzies look so much cooler b:cry
Though I have to say it's ironic how almost just after he is immortalized by PWI when they mentioned him during the anniversary, he leaves the forums because of certain reasons b:shutup

hint hint PWI, you drove out da hamsta, I think you need to look at yourselves
