Vet MMO Player Question

Hello guys, thanks for taking a peek at this post...
I've been playing MMOs for years. Fairly recently I decided to make the switch to non-sub games 'cause paying monthly just got to be a little much. Played -removed- for maybe the past 2 years but that has gotten terribly boring. I just got into PWI around a month ago or so.
Like most of you, I'm kind of waiting for FW, but it looks like it will be several months on that. So my question is...is PWI worth putting some time into, even for just the next several months? And if FW and/or -removed- aren't what they're cracked up to be, is this game worth becoming a new primary game? I've read a lot of complaints about the cash shop and PvP here and so forth, so just wanted to know some vets' opinions.
And if I say I'm not really interested in too much end-game PvP in PWI, is there enough PvE content to hang on to?
Thanks for checking this out, and I appreciate any feedback. b:victory

PWI is a great game but there are a lot of problems with it that other games excel in. If you want to play a nice MMO ^^ -removed- is free atm!

It can't hurt to try. If it's not your cup of tea then just play FW or something else.

Forums are generally not such a good place to ask for rational questions, GD mostly full of QQ from players who supposedly quit yet can't manage to find another game. Like asking a lost person for directions somewhere.

I've been playing this since just a few months after it came out so I've seen so much change. Honest opinion if you dont mind spending money on pixels you'll be fine, I'm not saying you need too but it really doesn't hurt expecially in the ending 15-ish lvls when things get dead boring.

If all you want is PVE content then thats fine and you'll find plenty of it, this game originaly was a p2p with I higher lvl cap and mobs up to lvl150. when they re made the game many of those old mobs and places were kept so where as the player cap is lvl105 you'll find world bosses (150) or normal mobs up to around 110 in the back areas of heaven&hell, also land of buried bones has 100+ mobs so PVE shouldn't be a problem.

Okay, thanks guys, it is much appreciated.
I'm not sure I even intend to hit that level cap, especially since tbh even though I am only level 25 this game is already showing me its grindy (sp?) nature.
I do love the graphics; even though I am playing on a somewhat subpar system (shared video, you know the gig) the water and my character model are unsurpassed elsewhere.
I am hoping that FW is like this game, but with more of a Western flair.
    I will be around, though.

Well leveling has its ups and downs really, there's good parts here and there, then there's bad parts in a lot of the place.

For example: I took a while to level in my 60~75 area, but it took me a day from 87-90 with the help of some friends.

A good tip in this game is don't trust people but be as friendly as possible, in the long run that'll pay off the most, more than any piece of gear or levels you get, because in this game nobody is really trustworthy (unless you really know them, like talk to them on a daily/weekly basis OUT of PWI or something), and friends are a requirement.

Well even though you're not interested in endgame PvP, you may enjoy Territory Wars. You can't lose anything in them, and it lets you work with your faction to beat the enemy.

As for PvE- plenty of that. If you don't mind killing the same/similar boss a million times then this game is more than enough for you.

Just make sure you make a bm/sin (I see you already have a sin, good choice :P) so that you can find squads endgame.

Glad to know I'm not the only one with the preview issue...I'll talk to Frankie and see what we can do about getting it fixed...

    Anyway, to get back on-topic...

I really enjoy this game, and I feel that there is plenty of content. I have been happy to take my time leveling, and am right now learning one of the barb's better spots, RB. I think that, as long as you make friends with the right people, even running a low-level instance differently can be fun. (Once did a backwards FB51...that was crazy...)

    P.S. ~ Uber careKat.

    Edit: Happy now? b:mischievous

There are other games, sure, but PWI is good for a few reasons:

    1. It's free. If you walk away, and then come back months later, your character is still there and it cost you nothing.

    2. There are a LOT of people playing. The high population on older servers like Lost City make finding squads and factions easier.

    3. You have a choice to PvP or not PvP, based on the server you join.

    4. Territory Wars are very fun. Beating a faction and taking their land is an experience you will remember (play on Archosaur, though, if you want to TW. Other servers have factions with 100% level 100+ players who all have end-game gear).

    5. The interface is awesome. I've played several other fantasy MMOs, and the interface on this one seems to be about the best (to me).

    6. Unlike some other games, this one actually has a fairly diverse population, not only in locale but also in age. There is an interesting mix of people here that makes playing fun.

There are some bad things about this game, of course (every game has its bad points):

    1. Rewards for competing and winning Territory Wars were taken away several months ago. The company has literally said nothing about this since the change was made, even though there was an enormous outcry from the community.

    2. The boutique (an in-game "cash shop") allows you to buy items that help you excel. A common phrase here is "free to play, pay to win."

    3. Forsaken World will be coming out soon, which will take players away from this game. From what I've seen of it so far, it looks pretty amazing. Time will tell what effect it will have though.

Hmm...looks like no other game names are allowed to be mentioned in the forums. Not very fair b:angry

Then again, the General Discussion forum is a forum for general discussion related to PWI only...I wonder if you can talk about other games in the Off Topic forum?

    19. No discussion about competing MMORPG's (including other versions of PW) and other similar games on these boards.
Discussion of console, handheld, mobile & non-MMORPG PC games are allowed in the Off-Topic Forums only.

Sorry...not even there. However, feel free to discuss games that fit the other qualifications! b:victory
