I am interested in choosing the venomancer class but it seems that it would be a more difficult class for a beginner from what I have read. Is this a bad choice for my first character and quite possibly my main? Also, if this would be an appropriate choice of class for a first character, I read under Basic info>Classes>Venomancer that you can invest skill points into str/int and was wondering if it is better to go full str, full int, or both.

Venomancers are good as a main class because they do not require that much help when it comes to quests or to a lesser extent, bosses. It's actually a good idea to start as a venomancer because they're able to make money by using less pots (compared to barbs/clerics) and repairs.
As for the build, full str sounds like a bad idea. Even if you go full arcane, you will need at least a base STR of 56 (to be able to wear the highest levelled patakas). Full str sounds like a heavy veno which isn't a bad idea either. b:cute[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
I noticed you said full str is a bad idea and then you said it isn't(for a heavy venomancer).Would you mind clarifying what you meant, assuming that was a mistake?0

venos are easy, because you can play them almost any which way. they only become hard if you decide to try to push the envelope on your build; heavy armor veno, for instance, requires you to know what you're doing before you do it.
but a more traditional build is simple as can be to play, right from the earliest levels on up. try a moderate-vit arcane armor veno; every two levels add 1 strength, 1 or 2 vit (and stop adding that eventually, say around when you've got 50 or so vit), the rest into mag. wear arcane armor and learn how to use your pet for tanking. that makes for a much easier early game than many another class or build; you'll die much, much less than (for instance) pure-build assassins or wizards, while leveling faster.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC] Heaven's Tear alts: KenLubin, Sou_Hon, JudyCaraco --- level 5x chars.0 -
Venos are easy to play and best grinders and solo just about any thing But playing a HA veno isnt easy you have to watch your stats every closely * i have to admit ive been a HA from LvL 1and still am its been well worth it and fun has* But it best to start off with another build 1st then if ya game try HA b:victory[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0

Yeah, Venomancer are a good starter class in any case. Basically, just like every other class, you can't deal with bosses --- so don't get the wrong idea about this. However, almost everything else is easy as cutting through butter with a hot knife, since you have a few strengths that other classes do not have:
- Your pet can (and if you do it properly will) take the heat that other classes have to take on themselves. Not exactly a newbie feature, but people using a $200 cash shop pet can even keep entire monster armies busy and solo bosses too. For a player without this pet it's not quite as shiny, but still good enough :-)
- It doesn't really matter what gear you have. After all, it's the pet that volunteered for getting beat up instead of you.
- Repair shop owners won't be knowing you on a first-name basis. I mean, how could they --- you aren't getting beat up so your dress (you don't get beat, so you don't get armor) stays clean and shiny, and the pet doesn't even have gear.
- Ever wondered how to lure that girl out of the group she's hanging out with so you can hit on her? No problem with a venomancer, you can drag monsters away from their friends for a nice 1-on-1 chat.
I don't know why the "50 vit" keeps popping up all around without ever getting an explanation (I did leave enough points unassigned to cover it, though. You never know, people might be right after all), but as the others said, "full str" is a bad thing. Build it like a mage class, with "Int" as your primary stat, "Str" as required by armor (use "arcane" armor, not "light" or "heavy") and no "Dex"Slow progress, game is getting way too grindy :-( Quests I still hope to be able to do some day: FB39, General Feng0 -
just say what the op had said: go pure = easy play style for veno or go with LA build if you prefer that, just dont go with heavy if you re begin with veno, it is possible to restat after so no need to worry0

in my thoughts LA is better than hard armor but thats just me b:chuckle0

It is often said that veno is the easiest of the classes and often when people "fail" at other classes they switch to veno.
To start with I would definitely suggest a robe veno: http://pwi-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=234672
Like someone else said you can always restat later.
I went robe and am only now at 86 considering restatting. (Which being the complete noob I am I have asked for advice.)
The thing with arcane is you have a very low physical defense so you will get pwnd by physical attacks. This is helped by wearing arcane armour and using physical ornaments (rings, necklaces etc) and adding shards to your gear.
In this guide can be found the stat requirements for builds: http://pwi-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=4261
I highly reccomend reading the above guides thoroughly.0 -
Venomancers are easy to play for beginners BUT playing them good isn't so easy. If you want easy and good: play a wiz. The game is loaded with bad venos because they're sold on this easy ****.Be kind: Help the GMs to depopulate the servers.0
