How to equip a bow?

I was happily shooting beetles here on my first day in, but then I ran out of ammo. I have 500 arrows that seem to match my bow, but I somehow can't put them into my quiver. When I click on the arrows, the quiver flashes but does not equip. Therefore, I can't even finish the second quest! How does one generally get ammo, and then how does one equip the bow?

Secondarily, I tried selling the multitude of hats that I have at the pawn shop. Were are the instructions for this shop? When I put items in to sell, they go, but I can't find items to buy nor can I click on any option but "cancel" or "x".

I feel like reading the manual would have helped these things, but the file that I downloaded called "manual" is empty.

I'm hoping the frustration will end and the fun will begin! Please help!

You can get arrows by talking to a blacksmith, as for your problem, make sure that if you have a bow, that you have arrows, not bolts (at your lv, the arrows should be Woven fang arrows).

Edit: this should help more:
Bows: Bows are basically the middle of the pack. Moderate average damage, moderate attack speed, moderate low-end and high-end damage. Bows use Arrow type ammunition. i.e. Phoenix Tail Arrow

Crossbows: Crossbows have the highest top-end, lowest low-end, and slowest attack speed. Note: Attack speed doesn't matter when using skills, so that's something to keep in mind. Crossbows use Bolt type ammunition. i.e. Bone Bolt

Slingshots: Slingshots have the highest low-end damage, lowest high-end damage, and fastest attack speed. I don't like the look of them, but they are very good for every day grinding. Slingshots use Shot type ammunition. i.e. Pulse Shot

Since Krisnda already addressed your first question thoroughly, I will try answering your other concerns. (If still having problems with first question, try this post: http://pwi-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=232782)

First, I am unclear what "pawn shop" you are referring to - there are NPC shops (click on the NPCs) and there are consignment shops (set up by players, aka "catshops"). At low levels, its easier and more efficient to try to sell the generic stuff to the NPC's as it will give you access to cash quickly and with less hassle; at higher levels, you can start investigating the usage of catshops/auction houses.

PS. Speaking from experience being an archer, I suggest you learn to keep a good bit of arrows in inventory so it doesnt slow you down in questing and dungeons; however, this doesnt mean to blow your entire in-game income on arrows, just allot some coins for ammo as it is our main source of income from quests. (In early levels, you get a lot of arrows from questing, so save those up as well.)

Thank you, I'm grateful to have the confirmation that the hats that I got off of the walking plants would be more valuable to npcs than in an auction or trade. Can you trade with other people? Is there a screenshot of that somewhere? That would be helpful to know how to do. I have not found any shops yet. How does one enter buildings?

I have a wooden bow (lev. 0) and a stinging bow (lev. 1) with 500 woven fang arrows. Double clicking or dragging the arrow stash to the quiver doesn't equip it. I can drag the wooden bow to my weapon slot but not the stinging bow. Ideas?

1. You can trade with other people, just right click and hit the "Trade button" after you click on a person to trade to.
2. You cant enter buildings in this game sadly.
3. What may be happening is that your not at the lv to use the bow yet, hover over the bow and look at "requisite lv - x". If your too low, just lv up until you can use it.

no, I cannot. That's my whole problem. I can't equip it. I have the woven fang arrows, but they won't go in my quiver ... so I take it I can't use them with the wooden bow. I'm wandering around now looking for a blacksmith? Will that help? What town can I find one? The two areas I know I haven't found one yet. I'm in City of Plume now.

Sorry to hear you are having so many issues early on! I'm sure once you get the hang of the game, all this confusion will melt away.

To find any NPCs you can use the the NPC Locator tool in-game - the instructions on how to do so are: HERE (start from #4 and Step 2 screenshot). It takes a bit of getting used to this tool, as it may seem a bit complicated at first sight; just play around with it and you will be a pro in no-time.

There are 2 blacksmiths in Plume City; the easiest one to find is near the Plume bridge where a lot of other NPCs are.

Once you find the NPCs you can buy from them as well as sell to them. This is where you could sell your initial drops from mobs/monsters to get your fast cash early on in the game. (You can sell items to any NPC - most of them can be found in any town).

PS. I think you are having bow issues because you may have the wrong bow; try buying another low level bow from the blacksmith and see if that helps you equip the woven fang arrows. (Make sure its a "bow" and NOT a "cross-bow"; bows use arrows for ammo and cross-bows use bolts.) Also, note that the weapons/armor have a level-requirement which refer to YOUR current level as a player - so check to see if that requirement is met before you try equiping your bow.

Quick archer weapons n' level 101

Each projectile type has a level requirement (can be used only with a weapon of a certain plevel) and a weapon type requirement (arrows are for bows, bolts are for crossbows and shots are for slingshots)

The Woven fang arrows are for lvl 1-16 bows, so you can't use it (can't be dragged to the ammo pouch) with the wooden bow because that's a lvl 0 bow. You need to equip the Stingin Bow or a better bow to use those arrows.

That lead us to the second part. Eevery weapon has a level and Stats requirement. If you hover the mouse over the Stinging Bow, you'll see it requires a character lvl 2 with a strenght (STR) of 5 and a dexterity (DEX) of 6. You can't equipa weapon or any piece of armor or ornament if you don't meet it's requirements (protip: the requirement you don't meet to equip the gear are marked with red letters)

Now, every time you level up, you are given with 5 stat points to place wherever you want. Press the 'C' key to open your character info and add points to STR and DEX untill you reach the amount required for the bow, then press the 'done button'

Note: there's no need to place all 5 points at once in you don't want to. If you are unsure how to distribute them, just add enough points to make you able to use the bow and save the rest for later. Also I suggest you to visit the Archer forums for more guidance and read the guides posted there that explain more deeply how to build properly your archer (and not sux later on).

The arrows that say 4-16 need a bow of that quality.
So you need to equip a box of that quality.
To do THAT you need to have certain stats - which means you need to level up a bit and spend some stat points.

If you are REALLY stuck, your two main options are:
1. Equip some other basic weapon that doesn't need ammo. Yes, you're an archer, and are best with bows - but a basic hammer, or even your bare hands, will be good enough to kill the starting mobs and get you some stat points.

2. Start a new character, and spend your stat points more wisely next time.

Edit: Wait, what the heck? You're level 15! This is either a trolling attempt or, I don't even know what else.

There is no WAY you should still be using your starter wooden bow at level 15. You've had at least 2 bows from quests by now!

Equip a bow of appropriate level (not a crossbow, not a sling) and your arrows will go in the quiver.

How to equip a bow?
