CTD when entering Perfect World

I was playing the game and got disconnected from the server. Now when I try to load the game (after a PC reboot as well) I get to the last bit before entering Perfect World and it crashes to desktop with a report error option.

The only thing that has changed today is that the latest patch has been installed - is this a known problem?

Here are some things that might help you...

Add the game folder and/or game file to the exceptions list in your firewall or antivirus software.

Example: C:\Perfect World Entertainment\Perfect World International

You also might need to temporarily disable your antivirus, MS Security Essentials or Windows Firewall long enough to download, install, patch and login to get into the game, and then turn it back on. Sometimes disabling may not help and you will need to add an exception for the game folder.

It might be Windows, Windows Firewall, Admin (such as running the game as Administrator), UAC, network, or antivirus settings that you will need to change so that they aren't blocking or throttling the game.

You can also try changing your proxy settings for Internet Explorer 8, to have them turned off here: Tools > Internet Options > Connections > LAN Settings > and then untick all of the proxy settings.

If you still need additional help, please Search our Knowledge Base for the terms mentioned above. Let us know what you tried and what errors you got when you reply to us.

Does this happen if ya chose another char aswell?

If not, try to press & hold W while loadin'. Your char might run out of the "crash-spot" and ya'll be able to load again next time.

If it happens to all of your chars try to verify the game.

(If ya can't find help on forums try to submit a ticket with your problem here)

I've only got 1 character, but will try setting up another one and seeing what happens.

I've already submitted a support ticket, but will try the W option while loading and see what happens.

I'd been playing the game for a while when it happened, so can't see it being the firewall or antivirus TBH as they haven't updated.

    Thanks for the replies

Edit to add that I've set up a new character and I can get in fine.

Nice...have ya tried to press & hold W while loadin' the char with the problem, yet? This helped other players with a similiar problem.

    Or...does it work already and I didn't got it?^^

I'd tried the w trick but the game screen wasn't actually loading.

The problem does seem to have sorted itself out as I managed to get back in. It did CTD again, but this time I could get back in straight away and it's been fine since.

I was worried originally as I wasn't in a safe zone, but I guess the character actually disappears from the game when you log out / lose connection.

    @princeraider

Have you tried verifying the files? Please try and let me know what you find. If you have already tried and are experiencing the same issue, then please go ahead and draft a ticket to Tech Support describing your situation in detail and providing screen shots if possible. Thank you for your post.

I'm not sure how to verify the files, but it's been running fine for the last few hours, so I'm going to assume everything is fine.

On the game launcher menu, click the button that says Verify.
