Is the World Chat Being Used or Abused?

Dear Perfect World Team and Fellow Players
I would first like to start off and say that as a player and fan of the Perfect World game, it is a game that I thoroughly enjoy playing. The overall quality of the game is beautiful. The graphics are breath taking and the character customization is very detailed. Playing Perfect World is a great way for me to wind down at the end of the day and bring out my inner child.
I am posting this forum to address a growing concern in the Perfect World, world chat system. The Perfect World, world chat system is a wonderful tool, in that it allows players to effectively communicate with each other. The world chat system is especially helpful in the art of trading and buying within the game. It has also been helpful in bringing in a source of revenue for the Perfect World website by requiring the use of teleacoustics which must be purchased using real money.
However even with all the good the world chat system does and the opportunity is creates, it also has a dark side. The Perfect World, world chat system is continuously abused by the constant posting of extremely obscene sexual, racial, and offensive content. This is a concern because not only is it adults and older teens who read this offensive material, but young children as well. These children are younger brothers and sisters, sons and daughters, nieces and nephews as well as cousins. They are our next generation and our future and I believe they deserve a wholesome and quality form of entertainment.
The use of teleacoustics does offer a great way to restrict how many people can use the world chat system. However I propose that Perfect World practice the use of monitoring the world chat and punishing the ones who post offensive material. The punishment can be issued by a warning, muting and banning of a player. The degree of punishment should be measure by the severity of the content posted. For example, the posting of sexually graphic material should be punished by a 7 day muting of the players character or banning. The muting could be carried out by preventing the player to have the ability to use the teleacoustic item. Another example is a player who simply spams curse words could be muted for only a 3 day period, and players who post flames or starts fights in the world chat with other players may be muted or banned for all the players involved in the fighting.
Another solution, and this can be used if there is not enough GM's online to perform all the monitoring duties, and that is to hire players to become MOD's to monitor the world chat. The MOD's can have the ability to use the world chat without the use of teleacoustics and can issue out warnings and muting. Banning however can only be issued by a GM.
With these 2 possible solutions I believe we can take the responsibility to clean up the world chat system and improving upon an already amazing game. As part of the Perfect World Community I believe it is our responsibility to create a positive and wholesome entertainment for not just the younger generation but for all ages alike.

if you see something particularly offensive on world chat, the correct way of dealing with it, is to take screenshots, raise a support ticket. explain the situation including the approximate time and date. attach the screenshots.
the support staff will then investigate and take appropriate action if required.
the wrong way is to come on the forum and tell the GMs how to do their job, when there is a facility available for reporting abuses. This also stands for any reports of hacking or scamming. The forum is not the place to discuss these issues - this has been repeated ad nauseum by admins and mods alike.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

never the less ol boy on top there is quite right there shouldnt be sexualy demeaning comments on world chat takeing screens is useless i myself have complained due to anti jewish comments being on world chat for a week straight they never banned or muted the guy and let him keep his offensive guild name and continue to be racist as for parents not letting someone under the age of thirteen play fine sure dont let em play but they can still read i got neices and nephews over all the time and a giant computer monitor is kinda hard to hide and i shouldnt have to there needs to be a gm or admin or something monitoring worldchat or keep a log of who said what and read through it daily with a small team there is no shortage of money on there end like three people a server for 8 hours a day not to out there so dont bust this guys chops cus hes upset why not cus and be rude and act a fool in private messages if you must dont ruin other folks good time and one more thing just cus somones not a chiled does not make some things no longer offensive[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]ty mystic man for the sig0

I would have to agree. World chat gets abused and PWE allows it because teleacoustics generate money spent on the game. Hardly anyone ever uses, or even knows about, the private chat rooms.
I miss the old days when barely anyone knew what a teleacoustic was. b:laugh World chat was actually pretty peaceful and productive.I level the old- fashioned way.

You dont need to buy teles with real money, if you do buy them with real money your stupid. Use tokens. You can be muted, for saying offensive things and you can have your character banned for avoiding the filter that censors words. Is world chat being Used or Abused?
I'll say both, why?
Its because everyday I get on I see many people useing world chat to ether get squads for FCCs, TT, RB, BH and more but there will always be people who will just spame nonsence on wc so its just something you just need to ignore.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Come to Harshlands and see the fun-fun World Chat we have.... Hour long Soap Operas and some of the finest QQ'ing around.
Just know.. when you get into World Chat and trash each other for hours, you not only make yourself look bad, but also your Legion. Showing your azz for the entire server to see, really is ... very embarssing for you and you lose respect (if you ever had any) and credibility becomes suspect.
Some make World Chat their personal grandstand to abuse people they do not like. Or rant on... and on.. as if we want to know these personal details about their history.. how they hate each other... who did what to who... etc..
The part where they are suggestive, and use sexual language bothers me, but then.. I consider the source, and remember the old saying 'Those that can > DO > and those that cannot.... talk about it"....[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

I'll both agree and disagree. World chat does get out of hand sometimes, but most of the time, it's all in good fun.
Little children should not be playing this game, or even being on the internet anyways without adult supervision. If they read something they should not have read, it's the parents own fault for allowing them to play.0 -

The TOS says you have to be 13. Good rule is what you say should be PG13. Which leave alot of room to be vulgar. I don't see much in WC thats not PG13 so its not really being abused.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0

If you don't like the discussion going on in world chat, either blacklist the person or filter out world chat. Crazy how that works.
No self-respecting MMO game, especially a F2P MMORPG, is going to babysit chats going on, on all servers, 24/7 waiting for someone to say something considered obscene, sexual, etc., so they can pound 'em with the banhammer or mute them. This is why they gave you the tools to be able to decide what you want to see on your own chat, so if you find it too obscene or sexual or violent or whatever, you can filter it out. This is a far more practical an idea than playing net nanny for a video game, especially when such a large chunk of the game population are adults, for people who feel like they need to control the discussion other players are having.

I have to disagree with that there.. I was in MMO where if you used the chat for anything vulgar you were muted instantly.. Granted.. the Server I played was a Role-Play server where open channel was called the tavern. The only server in which it was less strict was their 18 plus server, They had 3 Servers.. RP, Normal and PvP, a GM was on 24/7 Seen or not.. they were there.. along with Gm's in training called Sages, and the whole time.. the GM's were not payed.. it was a free to play.. and if you wanted you could donate.. to get a special zone called Founders Isle, which had slightly cheaper crafting materials on it, and a ring that would teleport you from anywhere to there.. cool down an hour.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

This is one of the most childish, ignorant, stupid and superficial phrases i ever read.
This is not about freedom of speech or other things. We are talking about things that can actually HURT people.
You should be MATURE enough to know that there are different ppl with different cultures all around the world, and your way to speak in a worldwide game (not should) MUST be careful.
And GMs should be mature enough too to understand all this.
Racism and general trashtalks about serious real life matters in a chat that everyone can read MUST be banned, to preserve a calm, peaceful and fun atmosphere while playing a mmorpg.
Whoever is in favor of insults and trashtalks, should just think about his PITIFUL LIFE cause someone near him has probably already SPIT on it.If you happy wanna be, against the wind you won't have to pee.
