For the most part unless a cleric is over-geared to there opponent in endgame pvp 1v1 they'll loose. Clerics are wanted in group pvp such as tw, in which case they're targeted and usually die quickly. Hence I recommend survival based builds on cleric, and to overall avoid fighting. and in group pvp situations don't really attack others, use silent and chromatic (seal of god if you have it) to postpone the enemy, while staying alive until someone on your side can help you out.
outside of tw and group pvp, I still recommend a build based on survival. simply because there are too many highly refined weapons out there. and a cleric who is able to survive, though they may not be able to kill the enemy. is better then the cleric who gets 1 shot, imo atleast.0 -
What Mrvate says is generally the case but I still think you should be able to 1v1 opponents with similar gears-still sometimes tough tho as cleric is not that good a pvp class. I wouldnt really advise the survival build as described below for pvp imo. Its good for TW but group pvp typically degenerates into ppl chasing targets in several directions so you never really find you're doing much traditional support work but instead will probably be assist attacking more. And again for 1v1 with a survival build you'll struggle to kill people unless you're overgeared.
As for tips- level your debuffs/seals and practice how/when to use them effectively. Try to implement some -chan and crit% in your gears as sometimes with your basic dps, you will struggle to kill (charmed) ppl. Lastly find a good balance between HP/m-attack/pdef that you're comfortable pvping with. Emm not really much more to it that that- ah yeh strategies against other classes you'll learn through dying alot! b:thanks--Retired--

In group PK the support aspect of it is pretty much thrown out the door. Just like in TW if you go out in a group in PK mode for most part you are target number one on the hit list for obvious reasons. The key to this is survivability. You will have to withstand all natures of other classes. Understanding their abilities and what you can do to counteract anything they throw at you is what will make you a good group PvP cleric. Lets put it this way, in Group PvP, you can in many cases be considered the tank. You goal is to survive whilst the others in you group assist you, and if the target is dumb enough to ignore you and go after someone else, you then just heal your mate... They then hit a brick wall..
Alot of clerics think that if they become full metal mages (pure build) they could just nuke their way out of a tight situation. This will never be the case. Most attackers are the physical type and will simply take advantage of your low P-def and turn you into minced garlic while you stand there and hush and take it. Pures even in plume can take considerable amount of damage.
Alot of support clerics in group situations make the mistake of fighting back, rather than using some of their utilities as a way of becoming a pointless target to the attacker. If a cleric is under attack, his best option is to immediately plume, seal the target, and holy path out of the attackers range, asking a group mate to assist his target and take that attacker out. Or they could be an even bigger pain, and stack tons of IH on themselves while the target is snoozing, and when he wakes he will bloody his knuckles on something that cant be taken down, and this gives your group mates plenty of time to disrupt the attacker.
One on one fights, a cleric must also be able to endure some major damage intake. Learning what the opponent can do is key nature of figuring out what steps you must take, learning the typical moves of your next opponent is also something you need to learn. Clerics are skills build in the form a surviving, however those same tactics can be manipulated in way to set your opponent up for defeat. One good thing about the cleric, is we can plume ourselves even when the counter is counting down for a duel. so we have that advantage over any other classes that are in spell lock.
In TW, it is imperative for a cleric to survive, one thing I press upon my clerics is, in order to survive, healing yourself may be your last. So many time I see cata clerics under attack try and stop and heal themselves. It doesn't work.. especially if you are a squishy cleric, and 9 times out of 10 the ones assigned to take you out are the physical type, and by the time your first IH ticks, you are done. The steps I advise is the same in group pvp, In TW I have the clerics stay in constant Plume shell. as soon as it refreshes re submit it again. And when under attack, get your attacker in your targets, and sleep them, getting out of their range, and having a squad mate assist you and take them out. And one thing I can never stand seeing is a cata cleric sit there and try to fight back......while the rest of the cata squad moves further up the path, they sit there hamming it out, and eventually gets over taken.
In my opinion, a true battle cleric is one that can out survive anyone, and still be able to perform what it is they are built for, and that is support. A battle cleric to me is not someone that can kill kill kill, but one that can go in, do their role, and be a pain in the *** to take out of the loop.0 -
Well I know some things about PVP vs a barb. Basically you start as far away from them as possible, and the first thing you do is shoot chromatic seal at them to freeze them. Use this time to run to max range, and stack some IHs. Then spark and wield thunder, or tempest. By this time they should be on you, so hit plume shell or either of the 79 seals. (plume is your best bet though) Repeat this process as necessary.
Barbs are easier to fight imo if they're in tiger form. They don't have arma or stuns readily available, which are the main killers. If they're in normal form, it's easier to fight them if you know what their skill animations look like.
I don't really have much info about the other classes though sadly.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

True for the tip against barbs. My 100 cleric usually never lose with a similar method as the one quoted above.
As for pvp, well I don't pk, but I do make duels and TWs. I'm able to kill many ppl in duels, you just have to know your class and not be too squishy imo.
In TW, I'm always in cata squads and I never died so far. What I usually do is BBing over the crystal. Once I was under two BoA + a barb attacking me at the same time and I didnt die... yeah I'm hp charmed and got a defense build, but I don't have what I'd call uber gear.
Something managed to knock out my BB several times. In this case I: plume shell right away, stack some IHs, quicky heal the barb to max hp, cloud eruption and BB again.
I have 6.8k hp buffed and almost 6k pdef buffed too, close to 10k max mag attack and I precise I don't have chan gear. I'm quite far from being OS'd, especially with plume shell on.
The "tip" is to have over 100 vit w/o gear at lvl 100, and to stack as much as possible pdef adds on gear, -% phy dmg taken, to have +3/+4 refines, pdef ornements and shard with flawless/ immac garnets or some citrines if needed, but don't put citrines everywhere. Oh, and maxed skills and knowledge of your class, ofc. b:thanks[SIGPIC]http://pwi-forum.perfectworld.com/image.php?type=sigpic&userid=8149449004&dateline=1294904331[/SIGPIC]

If you never get hit, you will never die! b:laugh
Or you can be like me in TW: build chi, run out demon tempest, run back in own faction crowd and hide, build chi, pop out and tempest, run back, etc.
But lately I've been stuck being support cleric. b:cry0 -

If barb (or indeed any melee class) is uncharmed you can kite them till they die. The above method is going to struggle to kill charmed barbs tho but typically what I do is i try to have max chi and get their hp as close to half as I can (usually end up ticking a couple times while I kite). When its close I sleep/debuff/seal/3spark and use chi pot- then tempest. Sometimes you can get lucky and bypass the charm- but if not follow up with cyclone-wield thunder-cyclone combo to inflict the max magic damage quickly and the barb should be close to dropping or better still dead.
This is probably my most surefire way of killing charmed barbs but dont use it much because I usually either dont have enough chi or no chi pots. Trying charm bypass using spark/spirits gift buff then tempest i've tried alot more often and sometimes that works- but more often it doesnt. q___q'--Retired--
