I'd recommend against binding. You should be lvling so fast through your 80's it would not be worth it at all. Besides, SL is easily the most cost effective way to protect your gear when you go red name. Even at 101, the only piece of gear I have bound is my weapon, and that is because it auto-bound (oh and my belt for the same reason). I've had 150+ hours since lvl 93, and have never dropped anything (used to use dolls, now I just use SL). Believe me, its nice to be able to sell your old gear when you replace it :P

Only bind things when you are sure you will use them forever. I kinda regret binding all my gear. I could have sold my COA ring since I have 2 CV rings now, and my plus 7 hh90 glaive (though thats not worth much anymore =/).

I also can't decomp my hh90 top to make hh99 and nirvana since its binded.

If you use safety lock always have the screen up so you know exactly how much time you have left. In pvp theres a pretty high chance its blinking one second and the next its not blinking and you're dead.
