Hi all! I am a lvl 27 veno. Currently stated for light armor. I want to build a well rounded veno who can solo as much as possible as well as being useful in a squad. For the time being I am going to attempt this without getting a hex or nix. Mostly just to prove that it can be done.
I have currently a Glacial Walker, a seamonster guardian, and skate fish (the one that flys over nethersprings). i would like to hear everyone's advice on building my veno. hTis includes advice on everything from builds to pets (especially uncommon ones). And yes i do know that to be super pro I need the beef and he nix, however I only want a well rounded and very cable veno. Thank you all for any advice I recieve.

Venos are well rounded no matter which build you go for, so your build is fine whichever route you go. Non-herc/nix venos have been done before, so proof is not necessarily needed. Any advice on builds, you can get from the stickied threads on the top of the veno sub-forum. Generally, AA build has solid damage and good mdef, but is a pretty squishy build especially due to lack of pdef. LA build is good for critical hits and a bit more pdef, but is generally still squishy. HA build is very good with pdef but lacks in mdef and damage. HA/AA build is pretty much best of both worlds, but requires a lot of money for both decent armor and weapon.
Pets-wise, it's really a no-brainer. Herc/Nix are best ground/air pets. Glacial Walker and the magmites come in 2nd best as ground pets, while the bee is 2nd best as air pet. You can teach your ground/air pets the same skills that the herc/nix come with, however their natural defenses and hp will still be lower than that of herc/nix. The scorpion also has does pretty decent damage at high levels as ground pet, provided you level it from the beginning. The rest of the pets are basically ****.0 -
There are a few other pets that are definitely not "****". The dark wanderer has the best DPS when skills aren't considered (important when you're trying not to pull aggro off a herc, for instance), and better pdef than a scorpion. The seamonster guardian has nearly as good of DPS as the wanderer, but has high mdef rather than high pdef. The cloud skatefish has equal or just marginally lower stats as compared to the petite sawfly.
Water pets... nothing compares to the level 5 turtles, if you take the effort to level them (and it takes a LOT of extra effort to level up a water pet, due to lack of marine quest content, and nothing comparable to the mice bashing room for ground pets, or the staunch worms for air pets, so I'm not recommending it for the average veno), with the level 80 and 85 plumpfish being the best substitute at the high end for those who don't level a turtle.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
