Does loot from monsters degrade as you level?

Hello
I am a level 38 Venomancer trying to kill some low level mobs (22-23) to farm some mats/dq items
I find that they are RARELY dropping anything. I killed 50 monsters and only got 2 element dust and a Element Fragment.
Is this true that the loot drop is lowered once you are higher level?

Drop rates do go down the higher your level, but it's still scaled to you...so it's actually moot.
And PWI has horrible drop rates, since the % was nerfed a while back. Thanks to china for being **** ups and breeding cheaters. Some people risk to employ me

For drops you need to be killing mobs within three levels of you character. so at level 38 you should be killing mobs between levels 35 and 41. this gives you the best chance of getting decent drops. When killing lower level mobs the rate is lowered after this. for mobs that are better than ten levels below you you will have only a .1% (or maybe 1% not sure) of getting anything other than coins.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

They nerfed the drop rates? This is news to me. b:shocked0 -
If you want to know how the drop work, http://www.pwdatabase.com/pwi/drop perfect world database has nice info to complete what Merenth said0

yes
http://www.pwdatabase.com/pwi/drop
also the lvled used is is the lvl of the highest sqaud member who attacked the mob or buff/healed somone who attcked the mob during the fight.
so basicly for a high lvl not to affect drop rates in a sqaud they pretty much have to be afk
on another note. higher lvl mobs have a lower chance of dropping items in general, just becuase pwi gave them a chance to drop any item
for example
Petite Sawfly (lvl 8)
chance of dropping items is
48.6841% of droping 0 items
38.4870% of dropping 1 item
10.2632% of dropping 2 items
2.5658% of dropping 3 items
where as
Mothran Dazzlewing (lvl 80)
has a
0: 75.9369%
1: 18.0473%
2: 4.8126%
3: 1.2032%0 -

To my knowledge, it didn't happen. It wouldn't be very hard to confirm (I know how to do that) but... that info doesn't really belong here.100% F2P player. Started PW: March 2007, Quit PW: March 2011.

Are you sure? I know it's not the same thing, but exp gain is proximity based; if you are far enough away from the mob, you will gain nothing and the ones killing it will get the exp you would have received. I have to wonder why they would make both work differently, and I certainly have never seen it work the way you said.Demon_Troll: "takes on the appearance of an innocent archer but turns into a mindless idiot once you hear him speak"

The Dragon Quest drops had their coin value dropped by 20%, but the drop rate itself was not changed.
Also, as far as I'm aware, the game doesn't track participation when calculating the EXP, SP, and drops, so whether you do anything or not it won't affect the resulting EXP/SP/drops. See the Experience Points section of the wiki if you want to see how squad size and relative levels affect EXP.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

yes i have tested this, if you were lvl 40 and trying to kill lvl 20 mobs for dq 20 items, your drop rate would be based on your lvl. if you joined a sqaud with a bunch of lvl 20 killing those mobs for quest, your lvl would affect thier exp as long as ur within range, and your drop rate for monsters you attack will be based on your lvl, but a lvl 20 in your sqaud kills a lvl 20 all by himself or with only other lvl 20's the monter will drop items based on the highest lvl that did damage to it in the sqaud. so while being in the squad next to them will nerf thier exp, as long as u dont attck the mobs thier killing it wont affect thier drops.
i also tested that if you a high lvl char and buff or heal a squad member while thier in combat ( flashy red) any monster they attacked while they were in combat will have thier drop rates affect as if you damaged them those mobs. it uses the same mechanic as aggro does. if you ever added to the mob's hate list you will affect its drops. the mob doesn't need to have you on the top of the hate list, you just need to be on the hate list.0 -
People always say drop rates are nerfed after a 2x drop event. It's like clockwork. Please don't listen to them.
If you look at the drop table provided in a previous post, it's roughly a 60% drop rate decrease in probability of drops due to your level versus the mob's level.
It's a better idea to kill mobs your own level as they will not only give better xp and sp but will have a far better drop rate. Killing mobs higher than you is less efficient (barring mobs like in chronoworld maps) despite being better xp and drop rate due to the dmg multiplier, it taking longer to kill those mobs, and them doing more damage to you.0 -
I think you have some information you heard a bit mixed up, because that never happened.
The Dragon Quest drops had their coin value dropped by 20%, but the drop rate itself was not changed.
Mine is from observation. I'm a prolific grinder, and I've noticed a marked decrease in % rate for DQ items. While there is an increase in npc gear being dropped to fill up space quickly. Some people risk to employ me

I 3rd agree with your observation. I grind alot even during none 2x drop events. Neglecting my bhs, I grind daily. Typically, I make on average well over 350k just from selling the dq items alone. Currently, I am getting lesser profits from dq items (less drop amounts) in an hour of grinding of under 300k. After 4 hours of grinding with breaks in between each hour the other day, I too notice an increase in the drops of equipments for the past couple of days after 2x event. I remembered when I was 5% proficiency away from learning level 7 apothecary skill months ago. Took me over 2 hours to get the equipment drops to decompose into those purple chi stones I needed. Currently, I can get enough stones for 5% in just under an hour from all the gear drops. I do keep track of all the assets I have to sell in a spread sheet for merchanting and the amount of dq points I earn percentage wise for rank 8 - then 9 on a daily basis for a fixed amount of time spent grinding. My numbers do support this observation as well. This had happened before with the last 2x drop event in Spring of this year, so I suspect that normal drop rates will actually FEEL and BE normal again in time.0 -

Thats exactly what I noticed.
Before the x2 event i was grinding heavily everyday, and the drop rate was about whats stated in database "real drop rates% " but after the X2 event it was no where close to the rates before the event, My guess maybe around 1/2 normal rate for DQ, but NPC stuff seemed to be dropping the same rate.
yesterday I went and did a grind, and seems its back to normal again, I'm guessing that they cut back the X2 rate to 25% instead of 50%, and then fixed it later.
To comment on original posters comment / question, The coin you make is not linear to your level, I could make a lot more at lvl 55-60 than at 75-80 for example. yeah you get a bit more for DQ items but you don't get as many. meanwhile everything else cost more, repairs, gear, pots, spells.
I know some make tons of coin in TT and FC and all that, but not everyone has time to put in 3 hours in one shot. so basically the higher yo are the more your going to have to depend on other methods to make coin instead of just grinding on mobs.
Also the dragon point bonus they just added was to compensate for that 20% DQ reduction in value. but really not much stuff I can use from whats available. hopefully
more items will be added. Id like to see manufacturing items, and refining aids added.0 -
Doing 75-80 grinding for DQ only gets you less when you grind on mobs your level. Everyone knows you get less DQ as you level up because the mobs do not drop as much. This is not a drop rate nerf. I grinded off high level mobs a year ago. If you are at 70+ then open up OHT and grind on the mobs with a [?] level, like Array Guards or the mobs in the corner that look like Uni Forest ones -- they will drop a lot more DQ and coin. Uni Forest and Valley of the Scarred also are excellent for DQ and coins, but obviously not available til in your 90s.
It's obvious people are biasing their views of drops based off the 2x thing -- again, this happens every single time, like clockwork. They have an expected outcome and when their expected outcome does not occur they presume the drop rate is nerfed. Oh well. Some people you just can't reason with.0 -
