Water Graphics lag

I'm pretty sure I already posted a thread like this, not sure, can't find it. But. I'm running a powerful computer, @ 2GHz dual core 4GHz total, 3gig ram, and 256MB graphic's, but when ever I have refractions/water on max, I get insane graphics lag. My cussie has the exact same PC, but has NO lag what so ever, and its not my broadband, I took my PC to his and tested that out.
Any help plox?

This should be entirely your graphics card. What is it? I forgot what the component was but it has something to do with built in shaders?
2 note for future posts:
-You computer was powerful before but now its kinda in the slightly below average. I'm not saying anything, just wanted you to know so you don't run into arguments with ppl about good desktops or lappies.
-A graphics card is not judged by its memory size. In many cases, the larger the memory, the worse the graphics card. Because if the memory is not "dedicated" (like most), it takes a bite out of your ram. The important partt of graphics is brand Gefore/Radeon and model number GTxxxx0 -
The larger the memory the BETTER the graphics card. Graphics card need larger on board memory to allow better texture resolutions and overall graphics resolution. the important part really is how many shader cores the graphics chip has, as well as graphics size. Knowing what model you have will really let you know if your card is good or not. I have 2 radeon HD4830's (both have 512 a piece) however this game only uses a single card (though i haven't played in a few years, have they updated that issue?) and even that isn't enough to be able to ramp up everything to maximum without taking a frame rate hit.
When it comes to things like that a HD4870 is nearly a MUST for this game0 -
@JamesJutsu
Please send in a ticket to Tech Support with the following information.
1) What is the make and model number of your computer?
2) Please also tell us whether you are running a 32bit or 64bit version of Windows. You can find out in Windows by going here: Start > Control Panel > System & Maintenance > System. Then look under System > System Type. It will then display 32bit Operating System or 64bit Operating System. Include that info with the info we ask for below.
3) To create a dxdiag log, go to Start, click on Run, then type in dxdiag and press Enter. Click on Save All Information as a text file (on your Desktop as an example.
If you are using Vista or 7, go to the Start Menu, click on the Search menu and type dxdiag.exe.
4) Attach the dxdiag.txt that you save to your reply to us.
If you have a 64bit system, please click on the 64bit Dxdiag/DirectX button to save the correct log file.
This is important so that we can help you find the right software for your system.0 -
2 GHz dual core does not = 4 GHz because they run in paralell. It's just 2GHz.
3 GB of ram is okay if it's not shared with your video.
256MB video ram isn't great, it's just marginal. Is it integrated? PCI, AGP, or PCI-E? Also, contrary to Suzuno, larger RAM does not make a better graphics card. My 8800GT 512MB was out clocking the HD4870 cards out of the box. I even get better clocks now than the newer GTX 460 1GB. Suzuno's system rocks because he's using two GPU's, not because he's got a gig of ram.
now do you know the systems are identical? That's a hard feat. Same manufacturer/model/specs with exactly the same OS/software/processes running? with the same amount of free ram, ect.?
Try posting your info like this.....
Processor: Intel Core2 Quad CPU @ 2.40 GHz
Memory: 4.00 GB
Video: Nvidia GeForce 8800GT 512MB (OC'ed to 750MHz with Ram at 950MHz) Driver version 260.99
OS: Windows 7 64-bit and 32-bit (dual-boot)
Direct-X Version 11
DirectDraw Acceleration: Enabled
Direct3D Acceleration: Enabled
AGP Texture Acceleration: Enabled
If you don't know the details, try posting at least the make and model of your system. i.e. Compaq Presario F730us.
(Note that my system is around 3 or so years old, so not powerful by today's standards. It still keeps up though and I can play with all settings maxed except Shadows and Soften with a FPS averaging in the 40's when I'm not in Archosaur.)
Edit: went AFK while posting and Ozimov beat me on the system info. =PTake the time to look for your answer before you post like an idiot.
