Hello,

After a year of relaxing I started playing PWI.
I downloaded the game and patched everything. (also verified)
I started the game and filled everything in and when I press log in. The timeout window pops up and after 40 seconds or so I get this message Unable to connect to server.
I dont know what to do.
I disabled UAC (Windows VISTA Home Basic SP1))
Disabled firewal plus added exceptions
Tried ethernet connection plus wireless connection
I am not banned
I am using a Sagem Modem and a D-Link G700AP as a accespoint.
Please help

I am having the same problem. I have not been able to log into PWI for a week now. There is a problem with their update and Tech support needs to figure it out. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled the game at least 5 times now and verified everything, but to no avail I am still unable to get passed the log-in screen as I get no server pings.

Good luck trying to get Tech Support to help. I have been dealing with them and now they are saying it is my computer and they want me to put it at risk for viruses, worms, hacking, etc by disabling my firewall and antivirus to try and reinstall the game.

Looks to me like a company will be getting billed if my system becomes compromised.

You need to install Service Pack 2 for Vista, as your system is heavily out of date right now.
Please make sure windows updates is turned on, and install all important updates listed.

Also update your video, sound, network, and mainboard drivers from your system manufacturers support website for your model number of system.

Make sure that Direct Draw and Direct 3d is enabled too.

Here are some things that might help you...

Add the game folder and/or game file to the exceptions list in your firewall or antivirus software.

Example: C:\Perfect World Entertainment\Perfect World International

You also might need to temporarily disable your antivirus, MS Security Essentials or Windows Firewall long enough to download, install, patch and login to get into the game, and then turn it back on. Sometimes disabling may not help and you will need to add an exception for the game folder.

It might be Windows, Windows Firewall, Admin (such as running the game as Administrator), UAC, network, or antivirus settings that you will need to change so that they aren't blocking or throttling the game.

You can also try changing your proxy settings for Internet Explorer 8, to have them turned off here: Tools > Internet Options > Connections > LAN Settings > and then untick all of the proxy settings.

If you still need additional help, please Search our Knowledge Base for the terms mentioned above. Let us know what you tried and what errors you got when you reply to us.

    Thanks!

So this is what I did:

    - Installed all the updates including (SP2)
    - Windows Updates is turned on
    - Direct Draw and Direct 3D are enabled
    - Added elementclient.exe , patcher.exe, launcher.exe to exceptions list
    - Disabled antivirus, firewall, Windows Defender
    - Runned the game as Admin and normal
    - Disabled UAC
    - Proxy settings are turned off

I have a Acer Aspire 5101 AWLMi Notebook
    Windows Vista Home Basic SP2
    1 GB RAM
    128 MB video card

    The game still doesnt work.
I need help because I want to play badly

More than likely this is an issue with your multi-reader. Try updating it.

How are you connected to the internet?

    What kind of router/modem?

Please note Vista likes to eat 1GB of RAM all for itself, so there may be some conflicts on system resources depending on what else is running on your PC.

I can't find the drivers for it.

    @darthpanda16
I am connected wirelessly to the internet.
    I have this modem:
    http://support.en.belgacom.be/euf/assets/images/fixedinternet/installation/drivers/sagem.jpg

I also connected an access point to that modem which is a DLink DWL G700AP with an ethernet cable.
The reason that I connected the access point is because the wifi function of the Sagem modem doesn't work.

PS: Here are some screenshots for information

BTW I don't get a ping on the server list.
I already made another account on Vista and tried but in the patcher it says that it can't connect to the update server.

well atm theres maintenance so theres no point in trying to connect when all servers are down for everyone, try connecting after maintenance.

Panda is right, Vista eats 1gb ram systems, lol. it takes 2gb for it to run ok.

I was originally gonna say the pc stats may just be too low, but you have a lev 42 character, so you had to be playing before =)

You said it is saying cannot connect to update server, that generally only happens if you have net issues or the server is down for maint, which would be right now.

uninstall the game, delete it from your hard drive. make sure it is not on C: drive anymore or wherever your program folder is at.

after download, right click the setup.exe choose properties and set that to run as admin, to ensure it installs correctly. after install repeat the same step for the Launcher.exe

I had a windows update cause the same issue for me, but all i had to do was verify the files again to fix it. It told me that the version was out of date, even though it was most current version, when i tried to update it told me it could not connect to update server.

one thing I haven't seen asked with your issue. the router & modem setup you keep mentioning. is this the same setup you got to lev 42 using? or has anything been changed with the setup since your last play?

I uninstalled the game and reinstalled it.
Also verified the files before and after the installation.

After the installation I saw something weird.
    Here are two screenshots:

    http://i964.photobucket.com/albums/ae129/LockerzLover/PWISERVER.jpg

    http://i964.photobucket.com/albums/ae129/LockerzLover/PWI.jpg

Notice the missing text and the server name

    Please help me

PS: I was only using the Sagem modem when I trained to lvl 42 but the wifi broke so I had to buy an access point which is the DLink DWL G700AP

Try going over the help documentation and support website for the router or modem to help you set things up.

    Windows XP: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/networking/setup/default.mspx

    Windows Vista: http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-us/networking.mspx

    Windows 7: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/What-you-need-to-set-up-a-home-network

Make sure that your router has port 29000 open for PWI and for the PWI patcher. Your router's manufacturer's website should have the instructions on how to do this.

I dont know if the problem is with the ports because none of my mmos seem to work.
    For example:
I also play Wolfenstein Enemy Territory and I get no server list at all.
I thought the problem was with Vista but I also tried XP with LAN and still no results.
