Compliment time for PW?

I just thought I'd point this out for a moment, both because I haven't heard it addressed and I'm sure the PWI team would like to hear positive feedback for once.
When the changes to TW and TT and everything else came, people complained and complained and complained and called PWI the devil spawn itself, saying the game is dead. Well now, about 2-3 months later, TT has been set back to how it was. We complained about Dragon Quest items losing their worth. Well now, a new system is being implemented as compensation. Rubberbanding is the most annoying thing on the damn planet, but look: SLOWLY (like one area per two weeks it seems b:surrender), but at least surely, it's being fixed.
So look. We were heard. They listened to us. C:
Thanks Perfect World.
I'm not saying people shouldn't complain in the future or shouldn't EVER complain: keep doing it when you see fit, cause complaints are just as neccesary to a game's growth as positive feedback is. (and here I am trying to take care of the latter) However, don't demonize the game. What I like about PW is that it shows signs that they ARE paying attention. It IS capable of changing, whereas other games will just stay with Plan A and that's that. Dragon Quest price reduction may not have been popular, but I doubt it was done without it being neccesary. We didn't have the hackers on steroids farming them that China did, but perhaps it could've become a problem eventually.
Just trying to throw a little optimism out there. A great game that can't learn from mistakes is doomed to die. A crappy game that's willing to change will live on.

TT being reverted was a mistake, as frankie has already said in the main thread about 3-3 being easy again. they will likely throw it back it extra-hard mode next patch, barring some big coding incompatibility. so they dont deserve any praise for making a mistake.
TW is still FUBAR, with nothing on the horizon to fix it, while they re-release tiger packs for 75 silver / 33 gold for 50 making gold go past 500k coins, and flooding everyones chat boxes with TOBLs, at the current rate, there is easily 2 billion coins entering the economy each week, and very probably more. definitely no cause for praise there.
DQ compensation, this is a potentially good thing, at least they are saying they intend to make good on a promise, and are supposedly making steps toward it, but until we see exactly what it is, praise should be reserved.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
Like Michael said, the TT change wasn't intentional and will be changed back. The DQ change should have never happened to us in the first place, so I don't know if I should be thanking them for giving us something that we shouldn't need (though, I guess they could have gone without compensating us at all, so...). I also don't think that they should be thanked for fixing a glitch... I mean, isn't that their job? I'm not usually one of the negative people in posts like these, but I don't know... I don't feel like we're being listened to. Or maybe we are, but the people listening don't have the power to give us what we want.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I agree with this somewhat, but while they are working to fix the content, game play, glitches, ect.. the one thing i don't see getting anything but worse and makes the game impossible to play is the economy. I am very seriously and sadly thinking of just quitting because i cannot, at lvl 90+ afford anything without cash shopping. The grinding and saving adds up to a lot.. it seems.. untill i go look in AH for the item im wanting and relize i still dont have enough. b:cry
If they can fix the economy as well as they are fixing the other complaints, I would love to continue playing this game, and spending the little cash i do every other month or so... but they prefer to cater to the dumbasses that are pouring loads of cash down the shute. b:surrender
too bad for me i suppose[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
It is good to see DQ items getting fixed hopefully to 100% as well maybe increase drop to TT mats (needs tt 90 or 89 gear).Looking for a decent casual understanding Faction.0

Nah I still mean what I said about PWI and how it pays attention to the game, but the reason I made the thread was cause they made the change.
Here I'll just bookmark this thread and necro it for the day a change is actually made. b:coolI AGOREY0 -

It seems they are indeed, so Fuzzy is making hay while the sun shines.
However, Longknife's main point in that not all is doom and gloom as many people seem to think is a very valid point and perhaps one that is not made often enough.

So now I look in the AH and see items that used to cost 10 mill being listed for 3 mill. Items that used to be 2 million are plentiful at 350k. Etc... etc... And yet people are still saying the economy is ruined and they can't afford anything anymore? Huh?
It's true there's inflation in the sense that the most elite top-gear is now way more expensive than what used to be the most elite top-gear, but why do people feel entitled to have the best of the best? What's so horribly wrong about there being items in the game that most people will never be able to afford? I'll never get Rank 9 or a Warsoul, but I'd still rather they be in the game, and no, it's not the "broken economy's" fault I can't afford them.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

However in terms of actual numbers the game spreads things out exponentially so that the actual differences are much closer than many people think. Thus paying 10x the price doesn't make you 10x better, it makes you about 1.25x better.
The problem I see with most F2P players' gear isn't that it's cheap, it's that they make completely **** choices. For example, a lot of players dump all their resources into their weapon, then wear junk armour with useless mods that has gaps in the resistances while neglecting their genie skills and refusing to carry a decent selection of pots (because, "it's too expensive", which is nonsense). Then when they inevitably die they blame it on not being a cash-shopper.
Not having the 1.25x, 1.5x, or maybe even 2.0x advantage that elite gear will give you is not nearly as important as not making terrible choices in the game, and the reality is that most players make terrible choices, cash-shop or no cash-shop.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I guess my original question about what people mean when they say "the economy is ruined" still remains, though.
Back when Anni Packs first came out I realized that people were watching months of effort become worthless almost overnight. Also, people who had found farming niches to earn income saw their income vanish as Tokens became the cheaper/better way to get everything.
The whole in-game economy was going crazy, and I made a post about how actually playing the game was counter-productive, because you could earn way more money/XP/gear by just being a cat-shop and Oracling with the profits. I went from ~25 million total worth to over 500 million literally doing absolutely nothing but merchanting, all thanks to Packs, while the friends I had who actually played the game were getting nowhere.
To me, THAT is what "the economy is broken" means.
But I see a lot of people claiming that high-prices = broken economy, and I just don't follow the logic. If 90% of the player base can't afford an item, um, so what? Why should that matter? No matter what prices are you're always going to have a top 10% of players who are better equipped than the other 90%, unless PWI takes everybody's items away and turns the game into an FPS or something instead of an RPG.
The economy hasn't fully recovered from the damage that on-again-off-again Anni Packs did to it, but things have definitely stabilized, and it certainly seems like things are moving in the correct direction (although I fully admit I'm skeptical it will continue that way). It's not perfect, and it's not as good as it was before Anni Packs arrived, but it certainly doesn't seem like it's "broken" anymore, IMO.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

OP is right. Thanks PWI for fixing the following:
- Veno pets doing full damage on skull mobs/bosses
- Veno pet skill doing full dmg on pvp
- Archers doing half damage up close
- Strong Barbs not being able to hold agro with agro skills against DDs his own level or even lower
- Duke shouting more than whats important (wraith atks, marriage, drg temple, etc)
- Cube room 1 spawn area being pvp enabled, yet you ban players for pk'ing there
- Cube room 14/34 not giving u a pass after 20 mins
- Bonus bug in rebirth when invisible npcs get hit
- Benig sent to 1k in rebirth due to multiple hits and dieing instead of rb forge area and wasting up to hours of people's time
- Disconnecting a player when squad is enterting rebirth, that players needing minutes before allowed to log back in and suad havnig to re-do squad to enter
- Finshing FF dungeon with mat drop runs so we can make FF gear
Just some of the many problem we used to have that im thankful PWI fixed. We love you guys for thinking of us and fixing what really matters.PWI:

heh, agreed - broken because f2p players arent able farm goods for p2p for profit
it means that for me, at least.
it is better on 100+, but for pre-endgame levels, farming dont work anymore .
im sure that if i would start playing half year ago i would quit around 70's. i dont mind cash shopping, but when u have to charge even to cover mp bills or to upgrade skills, then something seem 'broken'BUILD EFFICIENCY CALCULATOR: pwi-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=1129681

Now, you say, well real life is similar. But this is a game. In a game, people are supposed to challenge each others. Not have a few elite ones own and not level the playing field. In fact, it's the whole reason many implants and drugs are banned in real-life sports and games.

it means that for me, at least.
For example, one of my friends quit the game because his farming routine became worthless due to Token Wines, and he wasn't good at merchanting, so he felt that the only option left to him was cash-shopping. So to him, the economy was broken in favour of cash-shoppers and merchants only. I know that as a merchant at that time I was earning record profits of ~15 million per day, so I'm inclined to believe he was right and that the balance of power at the time was heavily against people who actually were putting in effort.
Right now, though, I'm going to have to admit I have no facts to make a case one way or the other. I have no real idea how F2P non-merchants earn their money, but I do know plenty of them do manage to somehow end up with I'd consider reasonable gear and moderate refines anyway. I assume they're much better at grinding and saving than I am.Borsuc - Raging Tide wrote: »Actually I hate items that are out of reach for the average player. I hate exclusivity or few top elite. However, this is an MMORPG, and the core mechanic of RPGs is that they're about gradual upgrading of stats/wealth/equipment. So an uneven playing field that allows some players to be elite while everybody else works to try to become one of those elite isn't just part of the game, it IS the game.
I know some people don't see it that way, which is why some people create private servers where everybody gets all the very best equipment. But to me that seems excessively pointless, since a FPS that's meant to be played that way would make more sense to play at that point.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Warren, I'm not saying that the game shouldn't be about gear... but that as a set rule, putting X amount of farming effort should yield you Y gear... not just a share of the market. The way this game is designed, due to cash shop (refines) and packs, only the X TOP people get it -- it's not based on how much effort you put but how high you rank in the market.
For example, imagine the celestial tiger event. Now imagine a similar event where a certain amount of points gives you reward -- not the ranking but the amount you put in it (example, 1000 points give you reward X, 2000+ reward Y, 3000+ reward Z, independent of how many others have). The latter allows everyone to get the same stuff given the same input/effort, the former is just something that I despise, as it favors only the select few "top" people.
If there is only one scroll of tome on the server... guess who will bid highest on it, the top player, or the 1000 farmers... no matter how hard they farm, as long as someone has more, he will get it, because the resources (the scroll of tome in this case, which is CS exclusive item) are limited.Joshcja - Sanctuary wrote: »hey
