I'm not sure what level you are, but I only started using it once I turned 70 for bh59, and now I couldn't do without it. It's a lifesaver in a tough spot when your target only needs to survive one more hit. I would say either level it sparingly when you have "extra" spirit or just hold it at level one until later and mass level it all at once when you need it.

For the other part of your question: When that guide says "Soon, the Light" it is referring to Chromatic Healing Beam.

Nah "Soon the Light" used to be Stream of Rejuvenation, if I recall correctly.

Also, keep wellspring leveled as it is a good heal with fairly fast channeling.

Lol, I guess I had Wellspring on the brain because I meant to put CHB...pretty sure its referring to the group heal on that one ><. Editing now..

That's correct. Soon, the Light was the old name for Chromatic Healing Beam, the aoe heal.

@ OP, like others have said, wellspring is necessary to level up. A good healing combo is alternating between ironheart and wellspring.

It is also good if you go demon.

I always kept both Ironhearted Blessing and Wellspring Surge to the highest level I could for my character level as these are your two most basic and most used heals. They always were for me, anyway.

First lvl your primary skills. If you have spare spirit make sure to get wellspring maxed too. It's a lifesaver and i use it countless of times on a day.

WS is verrrrry good, Heals DDs when they grab aggro and it sure saves ur *** sometimes.
You should start leveling it once u hit 60 or 55, otherwise it's a waste to lvl it on lower lvls becuz it wont heal much :)

I would go with the above. Ironheart and wellspring are 2 of your most used skills. They should always be highest skill level possible at your character level.

I have both wellspring surge and ironheart blessing both at maxed. Ironheart of course is good for spam healing over time for tanks, but wellspring is an excellent quick heal skill for yourself and for other players that just finished fighting. There's less of an mp cost and it's a good quick heal for those with low hp ^^

((Note: * marks, if have questions, will be explained in the later portion of this post.))

    In regards to 'Wellspring Surge'.

It is a extremely useful skill, but only in the right moments. It can be a fast heal to prevent a charm ticking, but it isn't as reliable as 'Stream of Rejuvenation" Which is a big surge of HP + HP regeneration, which stacks the same as Ironheart Blessing... I wouldn't suggest using 'Wellspring' on the main-tank as your "main" or even "secondary" heal if they are taking a great amount of damage.

Examples of when to use Wellspring:

1)When you're about to die, or close to it. Wellspring - Plume Shell, if against melee. Then followed by a few Ironheart Blessings. (Should be fine, unless you have like level HP to the G.M.'s) :P.
2)When someone is taking light damage, and you don't have to constantly stack heals. You can make a macro* which will continuously run. (Also, can save you from button smashing, and wasting mana/mp pots needlessly.)
3)When finishing combat, and you don't want to waste 400 MP on 150 hp.
4)When trying to build chi, faster. (Demon version grants more chi per cast along with boost's the power of the heal.) ^_^

*How to build a macro- (for people that don't know how to make working macro's. If you already know how to make them, correctly: then skip this section.)
    a) First-off Hit: 'R' in your keyboard while I.G.
    b) Then: Look down the skills which you have already learned, At the bottom You'll see "Combo Skills" Click "New" A pop up box will show up: titled: "Combos"
    c) Next: Select a Icon to represent the Macro. Something that you'll remember. Typically, I use flowers for buff's (30/1hour A.o.E. buffs)
    d) Now, with that window up: you'll see two icons, below your blank bar. "Attack" (looks like a stick), and "Walk behind enemy" (Looks like a blue upside down U) Drag the icon for "Walk behind enemy" onto the skill bar that's under the "Edit Skills" section. (Walk behind must be the first thing in the macro)
e)Then with your Skill's listed from hitting "R" previously, you can drag: "Ironheart Blessing", and "Wellspring Surge".
    f) Finally, Hit "Save".
And, congrats! You now have a working macro for light heals.

Note#2: You can use that same sequence to make other working macros, but depending upon the channeling you have, certain macro's may break or not work. You can change skills as needed, to make sure the timing is working fine. Like, you can't have just Ironheart Blessing alone in a macro, because of the cool-off time. It won't stay working. ALWAYS make sure to have "walk behind enemy" first thing in the combo.

Like everyone else said, nice for a real quick hp boost when IH won't heal fast enough. It's also really nice to spam for chi since your chi gain from skills sucks ***.
