I was doing bh51 with a barb friend, when we got to rankar our only cleric uses bb.
The cleric get bb interrupt and she gets 2 shotted despite of my friend running to get the squad as far possible.
She starts screaming that he's a fail barb cause he didn't cancel rankar's aoe.

I ask her how to cancel the aoe and she says it's a barb move b:surrender
I think i read somewhere that rankar has 2 aoes, a physical short range and a fire long range, but i've been doing a lot of bh51, and not once i've seen someone cancelling the aoe.
Is there a way to actually do that? b:surrender
My friend is 65 barb with lvl 10 alacrity of the beast.

(Sorry for the bad grammar, english is not my motherland's tongue)

I don't think it's possible to cancel Rankar's AoE, as I don't think he channels it (there is no channeling circle under him).
The cleric was simply a noob for setting up BB (and coming to close to Rankar in the first place) and not just AoE healing

But yes, alacrity of the beast is the barb skil that cancels channeling, and the cleric was probably meaning that
9 out of 10 voices in my head say I'm not crazy... the 10th is singing the music of tetris

The cleric should of been healing at max distance because the short ranged AOE is physical and can hurt pretty badly.

What Dshoulder said is usually what happens cleric at max range.

But here is a little input on the cancling of the skills you dont always see channeling circles. A lot of them actually can be cancled. What It really means is that the boss tends to try and use the skill only so many times. If you stop it enough times boss moves on. I can give a couple examples:

    1) 5th boss in FC (forget name) the one that does the stronger/whirling whatever. He does this chain of events then huge dd's for a short time. Boss also does that 50% hp hit/ae THAT one is cancle able. It takes 2 cancles to do this. Takes Alc and then followed by genie skill earthquak (one I use) and he stops trying to use the skill and moves on.

    2) Cannon fist in Warsong, This guy does that huge mana drain dot and believe it or not it is cancle able or stopable which ever phrase you preffer. What this guy takes I believe is 6 well timed and quick cancles and he will stop trying to use that skill and moves on. Its not easy mind you, but I can normaly get it atleast 50% of the time. Much easier to time Ala to be up if I dont have to worry soo much about aggro, but is certainly doable.

Those are just a few examples on bosses that I think Sirrobert was reffering to on not seeing a very clear channeling circle under the boss. So I would think its possible to stop rancors in bh51, I myself havent set out to try really cause his ae hasnt been bad for some time with people at max range. But it could certainly be possible.

    I think it is possible...

I went through an entire Rankar fight before and he didn't get an AoE off the entire time. It may just have been luck, or he could have just not tried to AoE us. All I know is that the squishy people in my squad were unharmed the entire time.

    Rankar's AOE can be cancelled.

Rankar and Wyvern are two bosses in FB51, contrary to post #2, that don't get a "channeling circle". Just like Ofotis and Drake from FB59, you have to watch the mob carefully for when they pause prior to magic being cast to determine when they are channeling. It takes skill on the person who is cancelling (barb, bm, sin, or anyone with quake) to either time intervals between mob casts (~7-10 seconds) or react quickly to the right pause in attacks.

Well i guess one day he'll try. But i was thinking if it was actually necessary, i'm pure mag and not once i've died for the aoe. But then again, ty for all the replies.
