no i did not give my info out0

LOL 3 hours later and more then likely after submitting a ticket already lol. BTW 1 question, if his gear is gone what will you do to give back what is rightfully his? or will it be nothing as usual as to make more money? you can track ip's, trach gear in game, why is this still a problem? just asking.0
-
1 more thing, the lack of a timely response from any GM on or off game, much less costumer support, it's no wonder the hacking issue has gotten out of hand. just where are you guys anyway? denny's down the street? or starbucks? does anyone actually do anything in this company OTHER then count profits? profits i might add, the bulk of which come from honest decent hard working ppl. I know there will never be a response to this. how can you justify any kind of excuse for this? Why and when did laziness become a job description? Why does it take so long to get a response? If these issues are such a huge problem that your overworked, why not put in some player protection safegaurds, instead of just the few that protect the game itself. this game has gone downhill, frankly the lack of in-game GM's is pitiful not to mention pathetic. yet you still keep your investors happy yes?
why is there no **** button to lock an acct until it is investigated, and lock down the acct to prevent further damage or loss? not that hard to do. a simple button with an auto built in response. to help safegaurd the players. every other game uses NProtect gamegaurd or some other form of anti hacking, why doesnt this one?0 -

@Shazaama
You do not know the specifics of that player's issue, and neither do I. There is no point making assumptions when there is no data to compile such an assessment on.
Often when players get all panicky over something that happened to their game, it is something that they forgot that they did (which happens a lot), or they admit to account sharing, or they did get ****.
PWE does not share account issues with anyone, or how we handle individual issues on a case by case basis.
Tickets are replied to in 1-5 business days. A ticket submission like that will also take time to research.Do you need help learning about patching the game, installing it, changing antivirus/firewall settings, changing network settings, learn how to use a computer, keeping your PC maintained and more?

1-5 business days is quite a stretch of time is it not? even to restore bank codes ect, timely is not part of the quota, which is unfortunate.. As when someone who has been a long term player and has worked very hard to obtain the items which become lost and/or missing, when account issues do arise, 1-5 business days is extremely accessive, especially when you need to reset to prevent more damage and/or loss. And as far as my question regarding PLAYER safegaurds, it is a reasonable request to ask, especially when we spend real cash money on his game, it's the least that can be done for us.
btw, ty for rereading and making a statement. it is appreciated.0 -
There are millions of just PWI players. This does not count how many players we have for our other games.
There are less then 150 people in the USA PWE office. Not all of them are Customer, Billing, or Tech Support staff.b:pleased
For tech support, our turn around time is usually same day to 2 days unless it is the weekend or holiday. I have tried getting timely support from other major game companies, and I have been lucky to hear back in the same week, month, or ever. b:shutup
The other departments, it takes much longer to research some kinds of tickets then others.
Some questions can only be answered directly by Customer Support staff as they can handle account inquiries and much more.
To learn about how the gameplay functions work, please see the guides, wiki, forums, and Knowledge Base. b:victoryDo you need help learning about patching the game, installing it, changing antivirus/firewall settings, changing network settings, learn how to use a computer, keeping your PC maintained and more?

so these millions of pwi players and other pwe player dont deserve hackfree gaming?b:surrender
this is the only topic u have avoided in the discussion lol....______ games _________ games all have a **** shield how come pwe does not use this?
i understand that pwiprotect runs with the exe. but that is preventing us from hacking game not someone hacking us...i also understand in some situations its not pwi to blame (not saying i blame pwe) but there has to be a way to stop this and i hope u guys find out soon...in the last few weeks i have noticed a lot of accounts getting **** is this becoming a security threat yet? has anyone even noticed it?
edit..

I agree, I've seen an increase in hacking lately.
Also, from a logical point of view, PWe investing in better hacking prevention would result in more players staying and a better reputation.
I'm assuming the Facebook things are to attract new players. Now if lots of people are getting ****, how likely are they to encourage new players to come? Would players in general want to spend money on a game where they have no assurance of protection against hacking or quick help when ****?
Just saying. b:surrenderb:victory0 -
i agree whole heartedly with demon_sage and CuteButEvil, how likely are new players going to join when it takes so long for a response. all we ask for is timely responses, especially when it's such an important issue as being ****. i know the person who got ****, and i know they spent 2 years aquiring not only there level, but there gear, how do i know this? coz i helped do the runs to get it. my next question is who's next? me? demon? cute? who? and sad part is, we now know how long the response will be, which is the most frustrating part of all. and since there truly arent any player safe gaurd secutities in place for us, why would we want more friends to join, just so when they level up they too can be **** with a week delay in having action taken?0

Heres the question that you guys don't seem to understand, how do people get **** usually in games?
Heres a quote i hope you guys, as well as the OP, learn from:
Majesta - Dreamweaver wrote: »I don't believe in the real hackers: getting **** that way is almost impossible in PWI.
'****' = giving your account info to someone else, either a person you thought you could trust or a phishing site. Logging in later and finding all your money and valuable items are missing...
So for all you people out there: set your SAFE CODE.
Set a safe code, that is different from your pwi log in password (duh?) for your account. You can do this at any banker. Once set, you have to enter the safe code first to be able to get into your bank and/or take gear off of your character. Thus making it impossible for people to get to your good stuff. Just dump all your money and valuable stuff in your bank. Just keep pocket money on your char then.
If you don't have enough space in bank to store everything, wait till you wanna log out and place all the non tradeable items in your bag, thus making space for valuable items to store in your bank ^^
In any case: do -not- give you safe code away to anyone!!!! (you shouldnt have given your pwi log in data to someone else in the first place).
It's a shame these things happen, especially when they thought a person could be trusted.
But I hope this thread can prevent some of it happening, cause this is something I wouldn't wish my worst enemy b:sad

perhaps things are different on lost city server. there has been an increase in claims account hacking, on our server anyway, and not every occurrence is due to "player error".0

@Shazaama Where are you getting this data from on how PWE is doing business and having any type of issue with **** accounts? Please provide valid links, financial, and established articles to cite from.
You seem to be enjoying the game very well and know what we do to make sure your issues are taken care of b:victory
Hearsay from other players is just that, and they need to contact Customer Support for their own problems.
PWE uses proprietary security tools which we are not allowed to share info about, but they do work to keep over 50 millions players secure on a global scale for Perfect World Intl alone, and all of it's regional flavors around the world, plus players for all of our other games.
The issue other companies have with sharing what tools they use to protect their games is that they tell hackers what kind of lock it is, so that hackers can find the key. PWE changes locks and updates security quickly.
No solution is absolute in the digital world for hacking. Our tools are AAA, otherwise the confidence would not be there for our player base that is growing at such a great rate, and faith in the company in financial markets would not be as good either.
The biggest problem with people losing their accounts is due to phishing, not hacking.
Players go to a stupid website and enter in their account name and password thinking they will get leveled, get free Zen or in-game coin, or some other kind of bonus. Illegal things like that we have no control over although we do work to get them shut down.
Common sense should rule supreme when people are handling handle their own personal information.
Players will then say they got ****, when really, they got phished, all due to their attempt to cheat.Do you need help learning about patching the game, installing it, changing antivirus/firewall settings, changing network settings, learn how to use a computer, keeping your PC maintained and more?

Thats if you didn't hear me, and "Hackers" are not the reason for "decreased drops and dq prices" that's "Botting" which is completely different:
- Automated gameplay. Generally by using programs to play games for you.
- Programs used to cheat in games. (A.K.A. Being smart about playing a game...all the skill/stats of a pro no lifer...and you get to keep your life!)

@darthpanda16
1st off, pls take the time to read what i said and NOT read something into it that I did not say.
2ndly, condesending attitudes and/or judegements and/or uncaring attitudes are not appreciated by the consumers hence referred to as players, by the staff of pwi and/or pwe.
WE are concerned for such issues as this, many of us buy gold, many of us have played for a long time and worked hard to gain levels and equipment. I'm sure as many views as this thread has recieved, that others have many of the same questions and/or concerns. How you reply to us is a direct view to us the consumers as to how these situations get handled. Nor am i the only one voicing concerns yet you direct solely at me. perhaps we pk'd before? LOL
if you bother to read what i said, i stated simply that: NOT EVERY OCCURENCE IS DUE TO PLAYER ERROR.
how do you take that as anything then what it is?
hacking does exist. it is a relevant and even extreme problem. it grows daily as does those who use the internet. not everyone who gets **** deserves it. nor do they deserve to sit in limbo waiting for action to be taken as it only adds to the frustration of the situation. yet your standard and at times condesending responses have been geared to those who try to cheat. not toward those who play fairly and within the rules of the ToS.
Not every consumer and/or player is a cheat and/or hacker, and thus should be treated fairly and there problems as well as concerns should be treated with relevance. not condesended upon just because your a GM or do not agree with them. you yourself stated previously that each case is on an individual basis, yet state here that the biggest problem with people losing there accts is due to phising not hacking. i am concerned at this point of the fairness of the individual basis now after seeing this. i am not disagreeing that that is probably the case, however it is not a 100% gaurentee that is in fact what happens 100% of the time. since you stated previously that cases are handled on an individual basis, it would be appreciated if you do just that. and not imply that when someone does truly get ****, ( btw if you do a google search for pwi hacks will will get at least 9,000 pages back with d/l links), do not blame the consumer until you know it is actually the consumers fault. if there is a ratio problem with office staff to players, then perhaps a suggestion can be made to recruit more people so as to provide services to the community in an effective and timely fashion.
and as far as hearsay goes, if a friend of mine on the game says they got **** i have no reason to doubt them until i am given a reason to doubt them. that is referred to as fairness and consideration. and i can gaurentee that if i treated my friends with the same attitude as being shown on this forum, that it's player error regardless, i wouldnt have any friends. just my personal view, but it may be shared with others as well.
PR is an important part of any company, and at the forefront of that is costumer support/technical issues. how you reply to us on these forums is a directly related to how we see the company actions and policy.
3rdly i never said pwi or pwe needs to go share anti hacking tools from other games, but it never hurts to have added security for your consumers in a vast and growing economy as online gaming.
Pls do take the time to read, and not read INTO statements.
ban me if you like for stating my concerns and opinions it's fine by me.
have a wonderful day, hopefully without the condesending part. :P0 -
If you used the same exact username/password, then they could steal your account info, but its just as Darth said:

and yet again no room left for the fact that IT MAY NOT BE THE CONSUMERS FAULT. all responses seem to be geared at the player doing wrong. this is not the case 100% of the time. but yet since everything seems to be geared at blaming the cunsomer, innocent or not, whats the point then of even reporting potential hacking??????0
-
Krisnda - Lost City wrote: »If you used the same exact username/password, then they could steal your account info, but its just as Darth said:
Krisnda, I can assure you the player in question is not stupid or attempting to cheat. PWe is only trying to pass their own problems onto the players. Please don't be a sheep for the GM; you don't know if your account is safe either; nobody really does because PWe keeps acting like the players are stupid and all that got **** are trying to cheat.
And actually, there are various reasons a hacker would want to **** an account:
1. Steal the items/coins/etc.
2. **** off the player
3. Use the account to play
4. Just to prove they can
Please stop assuming every player **** is a cheater or stupid.

So far, all the hacking issues I have known turned out to be the case where the user shared his/her info. I as far as I know, the problem hasn't been increasing or decreasing. If we were really having troubles with hackers, then how come they never go for accounts of users who are rich. Besides, why would someone waste his/her time hacking a game when s/he could be hacking bank accounts.0
