Even though this guide is 2 or 3 years old, I was afraid that the game changed so much that the entire guide would need an update and a whole new skill introduction or tanking guide. So far after reading this as a noob to the Perfect World game I find this exciting can't wait to try this build out if it's benifeiting other's to this day.

We all want to lvl fast to at least lvl 100 in any grinding game, but who wants to die 99 times just to get there, when you can survive 50% of the way by playing a tank? lol :) I've played a few tanks in other games, the same stratgy is there and works 100% till endgame. Of course partying, which isn't a bad thing, is nesscary to lvl up. I find being a rag doll part of a party more fun, make more friends, and they help you out at the same time. So maybe my new experince with this class won't be so bad after all. ^_^

My jaw dropped when he mentioned Venomancers using Bramble Guard in pvp. Just think if that defense skill had "sage" written behind it, lasting 20mins thats a twist.

If you follow the guide and put the excess in vit you will be a tank build... The excess is slightly off, but it still helps out a lot... GL

I was wondering if someone might be able to help me with my stats distribution. I haven't played in a while, and I'm back into my PW account, but I forgot my build with my barb.

My stats are 75 VIT 154 STR 31 DEX 15 MAG

I have 10 to distribute at the moment, and I am looking for a strong tank build, something along those lines...

    Thanks ahead for the help.

I've been making good use of this guide, personally, but a lot of people seem to have trouble with the stat progressions. I made this for myself as a reference, but perhaps it could help someone else as well. It's using the numbers supplied in this guide (which a few have claimed are inaccurate at times, but they haven't caused a problem for me, yet), and it just shows what the total stats would be (Vit included), as well as how many points you'd be applying to each every level. Again, this was made as a personal reference, so it only represents one particular build, but there were enough queries about it in the thread that I thought something might be better than nothing...

This is an excellent thread, very helpful to folks new to Barbs (like me). I have a Barb called Lil_Kuma.

I have a question though for the OP. Basically, what I want to know is this: What's your stance on passive abilities like Feral Regeneration, in terms of levelling? Passives weren't listed in your thread.

All passives, such as Feral Regeneration, Axe/Hammer Mastery, and Shapeshifting Intensity are needed. Even Swimming Mastery is useful. Feral regeneration isn't needed if you want to have slow health regen, but I find it very helpful. I maxed all my passives as soon as i could.

Edit: Just my opinion, of course.

yeah thats a totally great guide i follow it like the bible. Also just a note, im lvl 88 tank barb currently and still using LVL 10 explosion on genie, ive learned and un learned it a few times. w my genies current vit points 162 i do 7452 non crit in fire. i use it in pk as a finisher. we have firestorm so r fire gifted anyway. Some ppl "pk" as well as MT mobs really take a hit from it. If ur pumpin a lot into vit on ur genie it may b a good idea to utilize. Also size up ur enemy's info. Is he weak to fire? lol amazing what a beginner genie skill can do. W explosion and firestorm i eat MT enemies up.b:angry
Also remember ur genies crit rate is same as urs.

I am lvl 59 barb i am always doing it as follow thus i am a good tanker and soloer(usually barbs are for parties not for soloing). what you can try is:
1)Str:I expect that it shoud be depending on your lvl's weapon or armors but u can increase it by 2-3 at every lvl.
2)Dix:the best to do in dix is increasing it depending on your gear ... it can be as 1 every 1 or 2 lvls.
3)Vit: the rest of the points that remains after increasing str and dix put it in the vit... just do like that and sure u will get a good hp.
4)Mag:basically Barbs have a good physical atk and def so no need to use a lot of skills and mana just use the buffs ... well just keep your mp at 5 so you wont loose points.

thats all.... which it is usefull

And thanks all for that barbs guide

If one would wanna go for PvP as well then they should keep their build 6str 3vit 1dex without stoping when they reach 60dex?

A tank is the player who attracts the Boss monster's attention, keeps it, and takes the hits from it.
So a tank has skills to get Aggro (or Hate- basically the Boss's attention) from the Boss and keep it on them. This is because the rest of the party would die if the Boss attacked them. The tank is the armor that takes those hits.

If this Guide is ever revised, please add something about best soul-gem sharding for Barb gear. I just turned 70 and got all my TT70 gear now. I socketing it all to 4 sockets and filled them with lvl 7, 8, and 9 Garnet shards. I would not have done this if I had known Citrines are much better for barbs.
