I noticed that while fighting on my aerosword, I don't do as much damage as when I fight on foot. Is there a reason for it, or is it just me?

you're attacking mobs on the ground, i take it? you'll do full damage against mobs that are also flying. any time you attack across the difference between land, air, and water (pick any two) your damage gets reduced; join the mob in its element.

I often wondered just to clarify this if Venos attacking with an air pet from the air is that bannable?
Looking for a decent casual understanding Faction.

no, unless it prohibits the monster from attacking.

you do half damage from air to land and air to sea combat. fight like a man in hand to hand on land fights!

Air -> Ground = Half damage
Ground -> Water = Half damage
Air -> Water = Half damage

Ground -> Air = Full damage
Water -> Ground = Full damage
Water -> Air = Full damage

Air pets, however, do full damage to ground targets. They are considered mobs, which do full damage from any location.

This is why air PvP is a lot more dynamic - people are able to drop out of the sky and take half damage from ranged attacks.

IDK if Water->Ground does full damage. Remeber many times when I do half damage in the swamps when stepping into too deep of a puddle . . . (Always did full damage to those ground mobs when standing on land though, no matter where they where standing)

So basically u deal half damage when you stand above the enemy and full damage when you stand below him ?

    Untrue.

Damage is reduced whenever you fight accross terrain types, doesn't matter which combination. You only do full damage while fighting at the same level as the target. Unless there is a difference between fighting mobs and other players that I am unaware about.

In PvP, a ground target attacking a low flying air target does full damage. The low flying air target attacking the ground target does half damage. I haven't bothered checking if the same goes for PvE, but I always assumed that mobs do full damage to you regardless of your level of height.

My understanding was that a player in water (standing or swimming) will deal reduced damage. An airborne player will deal reduced damage to a different degree from the water reduction. Monsters damage dealing is the same regardless of terrain.

I don't pay a huge amount of attention to it all but I thought a player on land attacking a mob in water, like in the swamps, the player deals full damage. I cannot say that I am sure though!

Yes, because the mob can't reach you (or atleast you can get away in no time), so you have an advantage
That advantage is met by a nurf in dmg

Scroll down to the section title "Terrain-Based Damage Reduction"

    ^ QFT

If the attacker and the damage receiver are on different terrain, there is usually a 50% damage reduction for both person. There is an exception to this, and that is if the attacker is on land, and damage receiver is in the air. In this case, the target in the air receives full damage. However, the person in the air will do only half damage to the target on the ground. If anyone is still unsure, go grab someone you don't like and have a fist fight for each of these conditions.
