by level 5 do you mean Average (5th level up from shabbies i believe) they are the firs tthat glow

check your graphics settings. if the effects level is too low you won't see the glow. Also depending on your screens gamma settings and choice of gem the glow may not be noticable.

However, if the weapon is grade 7 or better and has two sockets, you can add two concentric rings of sparkles that circle around the hand(s) holding the weapon(s) by sharding with two grade 7 or higher soulgems. The shards and their resulting sparkle colors are:

Grade 7+ HP shards (Citrine) = purple sparkles
Grade 7+ MP shards (Turquoise) = blue sparkles
Grade 7+ physical attack shards (Garnet) = red sparkles
Grade 7+ magic attack shards (Sapphire) = white sparkles
Grade 7+ evasion shards (Amber) = yellow sparkles
Grade 7+ elemental shards (Alabaster, Aquamarine, Amethyst, Ruby, or Topaz) = green sparkles
    (Grade 7 soulgems are "Flawless".)

So, for example, if you have a grade 7+ weapon with two sockets and you add a grade 7+ Citrine and a grade 7+ Sapphire, you would get purple sparkles and white sparkles that rotate in concentric circles around your hand(s) when you equip that weapon.

Weapon Glow does not come from Shards. Weapon Glow comes from the "Quality" of the weapon.

a 3-Star weapon or "Instance" made weapon will glow.

As far as what sharding a weapon does, you will only get a small glow around your hand if you have two Grade 7 or higher shards placed in your weapon.

Durdey - he was specifically asking about sharding for glow ;) also depending on the grade of stone, you can get some startling effects - not just a dull glow. if you mix two different kinds of average shard for example, you get a sparkly starfield effect around your equipment.

No he wasnt asking for a specific shard setup for glow.

The guy wants a "Glowing Weapon"

I told him, GLOWING WEAPONS are of a certain QUALITY.

But glowing hands are different. If he asked why his hands didnt glow after sharding, Id be more willing to say I was in the wrong.

This guy is obviously a newbie, take that in account that when you seen your first glowing weapon, you didnt ask "omg, how did you get that?"

OP wants glowing weapon... I gave the answer on how to obtain a glowing weapon.

Do all your quests at level 19. For the ones you dont have complete, Do your FB quest, (a Purple Quest you get from the elder) and get a group to help you with it. You will have a glowing weapon at the end of that quest.

looks to me like he was asking about shards. he is aware that adding shards to a weapon adds a glow. he was asking why his didnt glow when he added shards. I didnt say your answer wasnt valid. just that it wasnt what his post asked about.
