500 magic.... does it matter?

Ok so I heard rumors that for every hundred magic, you get a bonus to your damage.

Is this true? Will bumping my magic past 500 really effect my damage profoundly, or will it just give me the normal bonus that extra magic would?

easy way to test>get a lvl 20 wizzie and go from 99 to 100 mag and see if you get any change barehanded, with a wand/sword/galive/pataka

    or apply common sense
Gifs are hard to make work here

There's nothing special about a "hundred" magic steps. Base magic attack is:

    (mag/100)% + 100% weapon damage

    hence
500 mag makes base magic attack = 600% weapon damage
505 mag makes base magic attack = 605% weapon damage
597 mag makes base magic attack = 697% weapon damage
601 mag makes base magic attack = 701% weapon damage

    just few examples
