So, I'm completely aware this is probably an extremely nub question, but you only learn things by asking, so that's what I'll do. b:surrender

I've noticed the cooldown on alacrity is shorter the more you level it. As far as I can tell, most bosses use a spell every 9.5 seconds or so. Usually when you use a skill yourself there is a pause while you stop auto attacking, plus channel and casting time.

Anyway, question is, taking everything into account is there any "magic level" for alacrity where the cooldown will wear off at the exact right point to cancel a standard boss skill each time continuously?

As other have said already, the "magic level" of alacrity is 7 cuz its cooldown is 9.5 sec which is kinda perfect for timing

however my alacrity is at level 8 (9 sec CD) which makes me feel safer keeping in mind that i might have some lag or i might find myself attacking while the CD is off...

so get used with level 7 or level it to 8 if u wanna be safer...in the end is all a matter of enemy knowledge

once you know your enemy you wont need to time it...you will just know when to use it b:victory

level 8 works wonders for meh. In TT I have a Macro setup like this: "Loop" Alacrity 8 -> Flesh Ream -> Surf Impact -> (fill rest with normals). So long as the squad you are with isnt trying to perma spark, this should work very well as a self sustaining, auto canceling macro. I've personally managed lately to replace ream with devour and hold aggro after only reaming just a few times at the start. (similar macro being used after a few loops of the ream macro) then i just build up to demon spark and whack away -> repeat macro loop.b:pleased

if you try that macro in fb's though, odds are you'd get aggro stolen from you.

Thanks for the answers, much appreciated ^_^

Currently it was set on 7, and while it does tend to work fairly well, sometimes server lag on the skill catches up and throws everything out of synch. Gonna test it a little more and make sure it isn't my timing, and if it doesn't work out move it to 8 to be safe.

I personaly took it max lvl and got the sage version as well. The cancling skill of it doesnt really change, what changes is the time on reuse and the dmg it does.

The way I looked at it was, every little bit helps, and when I can crit for 24k+ non spark with it, its worth it, since I use it all the time any ways.

Killing level 80's with a lvl 60 is a lot more fun than killing level 90's with a level 100.

I leveled mine to max as soon as I could after flesh ream, roar, and devour. Then I got the sage version when it came in one of those random packs.

I like to do more damage and I like to have it cool down as fast as it can. I don't know why people think they can spam it at level 7 or level 8 and cancel the boss every time that way. Even when I was a nab and read the barb guides I didn't believe that was the way to play even then. For me when I watch the cool down clock do it's circle, then I watch the boss to see when he starts channeling, then I use alacrity again.

Get it to 7 ASAP. 8 if you feel like it or if you are laggy like me.

As soon as you can afford it though (after FR, buffs and devour imho), try and max it. The shorter cooldown is useful in case you miss-time one and need to be ready for the next boss cast. Additionally if you grind in tigerform like I do, then alclarity is reallly great as a opening move to cancel tht mob's casting and you then dont want to have to wait for it to cooldown.

Oh yeah and the added damage helps too! b:victory
