    she was saying that threads dont have to be locked/deleted and can just be talked out of. all of those threads deserve a lock no matter how u slice it.

    Why do they deserve locks? Some of them are just discussion, some of them are just saying "Game is dead". At most, they're just a bunch of spam threads, which isn't new on these forums. They get a couple of replies and then they get buried in a day or two.

    I mean, you can lock them if you want, but I wouldn't. I'd just let them die unless they were vulgar, offensive etc.

    if thats the case what is the harm in locking them so they wont incite possible flames? "game is dead" post is what got this forum the way it is right now.

    Look at the President Frankie thread. There's one post in there.
    Look at the game is dead thread. It's just a bunch of people typing *clap* for 3 pages.
    Look at the congratulations thread. 3 pages and it's died out.

    A lot of these threads have died already. Move them to lower depths if you really need to be nitpicky with the rules or something, but they're already dead. People aren't going to flame in a dead thread.

    so, again i will ask, what will be the harm in locking them? will people really care that much that they would be locked and flame you to death for doing it? or will you leave it open and then have them flame you to death for the mod not doing there job?

    it seems to be a lose lose situation either way. thats just my personal opinion tho. i beleive threads like that shouldnt have existed in the first place and thus shouldn't matter if it gets deleted/locked or not.

    Done. Aint perfect, in fact, its far from it, but its better than most of what out new mods have done so far.

    The harm is, you're locking random threads that obviously aren't out of control. They don't contain offensive content. They're not blatantly flamebaiting. You risk coming off as oppressive, which as a mod you don't want to do.

    Look. Do you see anyone criticizing a mod for not locking any of the threads you posted? No. That itself should be your answer.

    uh, most of the threads last night was created because "mods are not doing there job"

    it got to a point to where someone posted **** even the the mod could have easily been out of town/sleeping/doing hw/studing/etc.... thats why most of the spam started.

    this is the weekend, ppl do have lives. just sayin. and its only 2 mods at the moment in there defence, the only forums that was so chaotic was the general forums tho. the rest of the forums were perfectly fine.

    Because there's too many threads. Just look at the god damn general discussion on first page. Look at the thread titles. 90% of them are all spam, or "GMs pls answer" or "valid concerns against GMs" or "I demand answers". Everyone wants answer to his or her question, and even if they try to answer them all there's bound for someone to still not have it answered, then go on a rampage, other new spammers jump into the bandwagon, make new threads, and killing this god damn forum with spam.

    actually, when some of them were moved/locked a few threads poped up saying "LOL a thread got moved/closed, why is this one not moved/closed to?"

    the thing is there is no such thing as pleasing everyone. you can please some of the people some of the time, but u can never please all of the people all of the time. a very famous quote that i forgot where its from.

    if threads are locked people will scream "oppression" just like you said. if they are not locked then they will scream "LOL MoDs not doing there jobs, worthless". see my point?

    Look at this thread. ChaoticShelly closed a thread that was discussing Forsaken World. Other PWE titles have been discussed before, and they weren't locked. And out of all the spam threads in there, she decides to lock this one.

    I'd assume it makes people question the logic of that decision, since if that thread did not contain excessive negativity, there really is no reason to lock it. Unless of course, you're locking it for the sake of locking it.

    People will question you when you do questionable things.
