you probably know these forums have been lacking in good moderators, and in community (relations) managers, since... probably basically forever. PWE uses volunteer moderators for their official, company-branded forum website if you can believe it, and doesn't appoint many of those.

well, a few days ago they basically ran out of mods to the point where they had to make some rush appointments. and frankieraye --- the community manager (paid PWE employee) who's in charge of doing that --- well, pretty much bungled it. couple of people got appointed who... weren't respected members of the community, and couldn't get the community's respect, and got off to such a bad start that they screwed up their vital "first impression" moment very nearly beyond repair. possibly completely beyond repair.

which didn't reflect too well on frankieraye. neither did a few other things frankie's done, before and since.

a bunch of people got forum bans for chickensh!t reasons, largely to do with telling the company in no uncertain terms what they thought of the whole mess. which just pissed EVERYBODY the h-e-double-hockeysticks off most regally. some of those banned people really, truly shouldn't've been, in my opinion anyway. i'm a bit amazed i'm not one of them... yet. anyhow, dozens of people just exploded at all this, and... hence your question.

so, now basically everybody's realized there is no moderation or effective management in control of these forums. the crazy-*** anarchists are going hog wild with that, making it look like the inmates have taken over the asylum. the less crazy anarchists (like me) are laughing ourselves silly over the antics. the wannabe brownnosers have their brown noses up in a huff, acting shocked --- shocked! --- to find gambling in Rick's Casino.

and a bunch of genuinely great people who've invested possibly more effort and emotional capital here than might be entirely healthy for themselves are, understandably, heartbroken to see their beloved forums going up in flames. and that's the only thing i'm the least bit sorry about in all this, myself.

altho i agree the choice of mods is not so smart, people are being pretty damn stupid with the ammount of QQ/whine/ and rage we have gotten last few days.

the forums were fine untill people started to QQ over the choice of mods/game is dead posts/etc etc.
