I don't really see points in challenging or threatening mods, seems kinda silly.
Keep complaints specific and on topic and I doubt there'd be a problem... I thought Nightrage was doing that but I wasn't really following it much.
The only reason i don't see a point in it is because why do it? your either going to get banned, or have your thread(s)/post(s) deleted, there's no point to fighting with them, instead why not give them feedback about how they can be better mods instead of just saying that they suck?[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
A good moderator should:
- Have the computer skills necessary to handle forum-related tasks (Web skills, basic programming)
- Be patient to handle all sorts of requests
- Be level-headed to keep discussions and some petty squabbles in check.b:cool0 -

Meh my idea would be instead of all the QQ spam, to stop posting at all. Not just myself b:chuckle But like a big campaign of the majority of ppl (unrealistic for all to stop) to not post anymore. Not talking about stopping with threads about mods, but ALL threads on any type of questions/topics. They want their forums? Fine have them. b:bye
Since giving feedbk in most cases is showing to be useless, produce no results & make ppl disappointed more & more. So w/e b:bye[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
I personally don't understand the reasons for this crisis, i had at first thought that it was more of a power play by some posters, but really this seems to have brought forward what appears to be the bottled up frustrations of a very vocal group of players. Whatever mods were chosen is not something that warrants this in itself, an evil mood already surrounded Aryana before her departure, so likely this may be the result of recent actions triggering the release of long pent up feelings and hostility, and likely spurred in part by those already banned or those with simpathy for them. Whatever the reasons, and regardless of the matter of whether current protests have a legitimate basis, i do foresee an outcome that will likely swing between two positions from forum management.
1. More bans. This is a very strong posibility as mods will probably request they be allowed to assert their authority. Since at this moment forum management can little afford to go back on its apointments, and this is the fastest way to stop and prevent further out of control spamming of forums, i would say there's a good chance we'll be seeing more of it in the short term. The first wave of bannings seems to have been meant to bring some measure of control back, given the decidedly negative portrayal of the game that had become prevalent. Hence it seems to have focused on highly visible targets such as NightRage. If they decide to come down hard the first ones to go will be those posters that initiated the majority of threads locked today, as well as the more enthusiastic of its participants.
2. No modding. A policy of benign neglect would have the benefit of allowing people to vent while it costs nothing to GMs/moderators. This may mean certain parts of forums can become outright abandoned and that flaming could be allowed to run rampant to basically allow for the more hostile trolling to tire itself out. Other than perhaps the locking of threads fostering too open a criticism of the game/company/staff this basically means leaving everyone to fend for himself. To a large extent this is the policy that has been in play for quite some time, and it is unlikely to be given up. As mods are unpaid volunteers the open hostility of a part of the player base will further encourage this.
I doubt things will go any further than this, or that players will rally behind well articulated grievances. Trying to look at this from the corporation's perspective, forums are meant to promote interest in the game, and therefore sales. If the meta becomes an obstacle to this their being deserted is a price they'll probably be willing to pay. A handful of fanboy posters probably being a more desirable outcome than a full score of discontent posters. Forum users being, in the end, only a relatively small part of the game's active comunity.
Obviously those people who don't really care whether they're banned or not have already decided on a course of action. As for the rest i would say that for the time being it may be a better idea to simply observe the development of this situation. Whatever happens i'm certain it really is only a matter of days, perhaps even hours, before things quiet down. Although a return to normalcy may take a while longer, as one way or another we must all adjust to the new circumstances.0
