Treatise to Moderation

With two of our moderators becoming retirees, and the inactivity of the other; I surmise that we are in need of a "passing of the torch," so to say. I, for one, acknowledge that I may not have always been on the best track of utmost best behavior, but i thoroughly believe that with responsibility comes maturity. Because of this, I would like to test my mettle as a moderator for not only the sake of the forum, but to grow and learn for myself. I have many qualities and aspects to form a multifaceted, talented, and hardworking individual ready to support.

My first quality, activity. Activity is one thing some of the other moderators seemed to lack. There is rarely a day that I don't make a post; even during the late hours of the night, when kiddies believe there is no one to monitor their behavior, I'd be there. No more midnight troll threads under my watch.

I also have experience, I've been on these forums since near the beginning of PWI. From the knowledge of other players, to PW database, to the wiki, I have a great collection of knowledge at my disposal to help aid the new players who have many curiosities and questions. I can also assist those who have other problematic issues with the game; or direct them to a better source should I not have the immediate answer at hand.

Lastly, I can be quite the people person. From joking with the crowd, to maintaining serious discussion, and even dealing with the instable, I can do it all. Getting along with people, or dealing with irate customers comes with the territory, shouldn't a moderator know how to deal with these without letting the situation get out of hand? I would think so.

I humbly request, with these facts in mind, that I be considered seriously for a position on your volunteer staff. Thank you.

I vote no as well. No forum dweller should get the torch. To many "favorites" 'n stuff.

quite active you are indeed, with about 3x my post count in the same amount of time. I wish you good luck with your endeavor. I personally have too much responsibility on my own plate as it is between being a shift manager at work and a faction leader in game b:surrender

But I tend to agree that some more active moderation would be nice. Its kind of rare in my experience to see many moderators posting in the forums on a regular basis such as some of the members do.

well, consider this. konariraiden recieved the position as a forum dweller, did the forums go down in flames, or into a reign of tyranny because of it? no it did not. your point is rather moot.

Don't make fun of moot, besides where is Konarir anyway? The only mod I've seen that was not also a GM was Ary and now she's a ghost.

Anyway, staff should be "hired" outside of player base. Though a play may know a lot about the game, a Forum Mod shouldn't need to. All they do is lurk the forums and make sure people are posting within the rules. Any game problem and they foward the player to either Ticket Support or the Tech Forum.

the forum moderation team has always been of the playerbase, on a volunteer basis. they arent paid or representatives of the company on an official level. quite frankly though, i believe a moderator should at least have some technical know how in order to assist those who need it in a hastily manner. from what i have seen, the moderator hawk had a good amount of experience in computer technology, assisting those who needed it.

i for one specialize in multiple languages, and can assist those occasions foreigners come about the forums looking for answers, etc. a mod shouldnt just be a copy pasta slave; not really helping anyone at all in the process.

    stuff

You do realize you'll have to keep all of your opinions to yourself, kowtow the company line and probably help moderate 3-4 other PWI boards leaving you unable to participate as you have?

    I'll vote yes. xP

While in fairness you'd make a decent mod, forum moderation isn't something you really apply for. People who specifically ask to become mod are the ones least likely to be picked. I guess Konari was an exception, but he's gone inactive, most likely from boredom since as a mod you have to withhold most of your opinions and follow a whole lot of rules.

If i were in a position to make the decision on promoting someone to moderator, I would not promote you simply because you asked to be promoted when no advertisement or solicitation on filling the position was made. to me a promotion is an earned position where the obvious choice need not advertise for themselves.
