Getting Perfect World For MAC!

Hey all im just making this thread because im am now downloading Pefect World International FOR MAC!b:laughb:laugh Ill tell you guys how i did it.

1. get crossover games you can buy the full version or use the 7 day trial like i am using you can download the trial from here: http://www.codeweavers.com/products/cxgames/download_trial/ make sure u get crossover games i found that with crossover it has a warning message on weather or not you want to download the file but no matter how many times u click load file it doesn't work so u need crossover games.

2. download this file dont worry its like ess then a mega byte its kinda like a torrent its the perfect world international crossover games download thingy. download it here:
http://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/browse/name/?app_id=4687 just click install via C4P on the right in orange.

3. open crossover games and up the top it'll say manage go to manage bottles then click the + button in the bottom left corner it will make a new bottle type the name of your bottle then choose what platform you want winxp vista etc: then click creat bottle it may take a few minutes but then your ready for the download!!

4.go to your downloads and get the file its called 4687.c4p open it in finder then go open with and select 'crossover games' (NOT CROSSOVER, CROSSOVER GAMES!!!) then it should start this install thing select your bottle and it should start the download eventually a direct x installer will pop up install that and then soon your perfect world download will pop up just finish that and you should be able to open it.

I have finished downloading and its running smoothly i only had a problem when i was changing from windowed mode to fullscreen the game just went blank or it might have bin something i did anyway see for yourself if it changing settings and stuff works for you but it runs fine i havn't had any lagg i can still attack and talk to ppl and so on so this game is going really well and im quite happy with it.

IM SORRY TO SAY: but you cant play this on Mac without crossover games so when the trials run out your done. BUT i have a theory because every time i open crossover games it asks me if i want to buy it or start the 7 day trial. my thinking is that every time i open it it starts the trial again i dunno since i've only had this game a few days but it might work see for yourself.

5. To run the game in future after opening it after the install. wat you need to do is open crossover games and you can do this two ways either click on the crossover games icon on your dock or go to programs up the top then click run command. After clicking run command choose your bottle on the scroll down menu and then browse file. it should open up Drive C which should have a perfect world entertainment folder open that then go to perfect world international and it will open up your perfect world folder. you can either go to the element folder and select element client (.exe im pretty sure) then click run command and it'll get you to the perfect world login. or you can go to the launcher folder and open your launcher and see the news and any patches you might need to do. dont worry its all the same as windows after this.

i'm using crossower games on mac pro.. it works but game sometimes just crashes..
there are some issues with textures but its playable..

wouldnt it be easier to run windows on mac(emulator or w/e its called cant remember name..vmware i think ) and play the game on the virtual windows program?

My virtual windows is very very laggy and it takes me like 5 mins to open my documents and i cant even access internet on it i know i could probably fix that but if you want to run it properly on your mac without having to encounter bugs and stuff with the vurtual pc because virtual pc will never be as good as windows. so yeh this is a way you can do it its your choice really.

mine just crashed yeh when i was changing from windowed to full screen mode but i havn't encounted any crashes while playing the game only when i changed the settings. for me it runs exactly like it would on my pc it doesn't even lag or anything. this is a silver level crossover games compatible game so there might be a few bugs which might depend on what type of mac you have i have a snow leapard im pretty sure i didn't but it so dont ask me anyway it works better then game maker which is a gold rated compatible game lol

I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 linux and PWI works well if I run it under Wine HQ. I think Wine HQ is available for mac too.

im lucky though im using my friends crossover games registration so i got the full version the trials exactly the same just the full version lasts forever.

personally i have no idea what that is im just new to make and i've been in a mad scramble to get pwi if it works for you, you could consider making a thread on ow to get it on linux but that would be good because more and more people would be able to play perfect world on every platform.

Just thought I would say for the sake of anyone using this that Ive gotten the game to work perfectly with crossover games. The only problem that I have run into is I tried to push the button to reduce the amount of players visible for internet connection reasons (i think third button from right at very top left of screen) it kicks you out. Other than that no probs though

well i bought windows 7 for it and installed perfct world, patched it but when i click start a weird message pops up thats random weird letters and it wont let me play and now iv installed the trial version of cross over games but when the trial runs out will i still be able to play it?

i do it a year now on my 4 year old macbook laptop and it runs better than on my pc b:chuckle

There have been several other threads written about this topic Fuzzy has read. This thread, like those, should probably go in the tech support section of the forum, not the beginners guide.

As to getting PWI running on a Mac, the best solution Fuzzy has found is bootcamp. If you have Snow Leopard installed and a genuine version of Windows (XP SP2 or later) it only takes a few simple clicks to get a windows partition running on your Mac. No need for emulators or anything of the sort and the panda has never had a single issue with the game. It runs flawlessly.

Fuzzy has heard the suggestion of trying Wine before, and has read of it producing results, but can't speak to that, having never tried it.

There are many out there who play PWI on their Mac's, so if you run into an issue, ask in the forums, you may find an answer. However, be aware, PWI itself will offer no tech support on the issue of getting it up and running on a Mac.

here is how to run perfect world on a mac

1) go to wine bottler winebottler.kronenberg.org/ or search wine bottler in google
2) download application and mount it.
3) drag and drop wine into applications (you may install wine bottler as well, just drag and drop)
4)here is the fun part... go into applications and open WINE not winebottler... you should see a little wine glass at the top right of the screen. before you can do anything with installation you MUST configure wine. by the way, i closed all those crazy windows when they first popped up, they just got in the way

click on the wineglass and go to configuration... this will setup rest of the program. i had to do this twice due to console errors, not sure why...

5)a new file should have been created in your home directory... now click on the wine glass again and go to "wine tricks" and apply the following by searching and checkboxing:

type "opengl" and check "ddr=opengl"
type "repack" and check "npm=repack"
type "fbo" and check "orm=fbo"
type "pixelshadermode" and check "psm=on"
type "rendertarget" and check "rtlm=auto"
type "glsl" and check "glsl-disable"

now click apply...

6) now you should be able to download the "exe" file and install. use wine and not winebottler.

here are some additional notes:

it should install to your home directory /Wine Files/drive_c/Perfect World Entertainment
the program launcher is under that directory by going to Perfect World International/patcher/patcher.exe

update like you normally would.

at first i couldn't click start without a big fumbled mess of code for an error... i fixed this by going into wine (the wine glass at the top of the screen) and going to configuration... then graphics... then checked "emulate a virtual desktop." i'm running an imac so i set my screen resolution starting out at 1024x768" and then checked apply. when i went back into perfect world and checked the settings i now could get my screen resolution right and did full screen (though it still appeared as a window in mac, lol)

sorry if i'm not the best tutorial writer, i will log on and try to answer questions... hope this helps and PLEASE PERFECT WORLD INTERNATIONAL MAKE A MAC VERSION!!!!
