Ring of Mobs

What are these ring of mobs guarding chests? What purpose do they serve? All I've been able to obtain from them are weapons that are useless to me other than selling for a cheap buck.

An old quest chain perhaps?

    theres been these kinds of chest back in pw my version too idk if u farm it 100 times you get 100k i suppose

    they usuallu gave some items likemats or low lvl gems , but the keys are not available in PWI (the iron and gold chest need keys , another 1 thta starts with N gives u *gold foil* which sells for 5k at NPC (useless)
