The silence of the detractors.....

Packs killed the economy not just for free player, but for cash users as well. I have noticed a decline in gold being sold on AH. See what PWE doesn't realise is that once cash shoppers got that ubber gear, they stopped cash shopping. Sure they might drop a couple bucks here and there, but they no longer need to charge gold to make coins. They do it by farming instances; instances that are now way too hard for average geared players.
I can't count how many cash shoppers have left the game due to reaching endgame brought by packs, because they have not much else to accomplish. Many of them were very dear friends of mine.
I still really believe that if packs were released maybe every 3 months for about 2 weeks each time, the spike profit would be a lot more than keeping them in and just changing the names. It would also have not made "endgame" so obtainable so fast.0 -

They very well might. If they do, whether it would be a good change or a bad would have to be seen.
I don't intend to accuse anybody of lying, more then falling short in their statements. For example, Sango was right, South Archosaur in DW is starting to fill with catshops.
However, is this proof of new players? No, it's not. There's no evidence he nor I could get that proves these are new players, or alts.
Are these extensive numbers of catshops proof that everybody is slowly falling back to merchanting and no longer playing the game? Personally, I think it's a step in that direction, but officially neither of us could offer evidence to prove or disprove the theory.
Therefore, to try and use these catshops to better prove his argument? It is a flawed reasoning. The increased number of catshops do not prove there are a greater of number of players, nor do they prove that there are any less people actually playing the game. It was foolish of Sango to use this fact to justify his argument, and the only recovery he made from this was to later admit how the catshops proved nothing.
White lies and half-truths are fine until people can offer you either evidence to the contrary or tell the other half of the truth that you missed out. It's not that Sango has lied, it's merely that his arguments have either been contradictory in and of themselves or he has tried to use justification that simply cannot be used. Like the number of catshops.
I was here well before the first anniversary came around. I agree with everybody who have said that the old dev team would have done a better job.
As such we have a new team of developers that, if the timing is right, began work roughly the same time as the first anniversary came around. The first anniversary and first round of packs in and of itself was not a lack of care and was not game breaking.
The lack of care surfaced after the first round of packs. When they were brought back and back time and time again. The RT expansion was not a flaw in and of itself and it provided many new things to the game that offered players a lot of new things to do; but a lack of care in the expansion left a lot of bugs needing to be fixed and a lot of problems that, in some cases, have not gone rectified.
Basically: their care has been very hit-and-miss since the first anniversary, and sometimes the new developers manage to do something quite decently, where as other times they fall drastically, drastically short. Their shortcomings more obvious than their successes, it is what the player base picks up on.
Sango was a made a moderator for his contribution on the wiki, so I'm very aware as to why he was made a moderator. But, again. A moderator is, by and large, an extension of PWE. They work for free, but the GMs - their effective bosses - do not. I can imagine it would give somebody trouble if the moderators began stating opinions that were as slating of the company as many players.
After all, it looks very bad when your own staff, voluntary or otherwise, begin to argue against what you do and call you out on the obvious greed. I don't expect moderators to share their own honest opinions if they actually want to keep their jobs. I do expect them to not argue a point that may have been forced down their throat, if you will. After all, as we've seen, doing such a thing leaves far too many holes in an argument.

I'm far from the best poster on these forums, I'll be the first one to admit. I've been wrong and there are plenty of people who can argue and counter-argue just as well if not better than me.
But! I appreciate the compliment. b:cuteKupuntu - Sanctuary wrote: »I just couldn't resist that. b:chuckle

Question, devs, what WILL you do once a majority of the player base reaches 10x? There's actually so many 10x players on the servers as a whole, they can't all fit in the ranked section of your 'precious' CORE connection. And yet you refuse to serve them! They probably spend more money than most developing players, and THAT is a fact. And yet, you IGNORE them.
The game isn't dying...the old ways are, but the game will hobble on. Dying...no, changing yes.

Airyll and Aubree make excellent points. (Of course Aubree does...she's EQ.) But they're experienced players, they've been here a while, they know how things have been...
And you're right, the spoonfed BH/Hyper/Oracle gen won't help you Devs...not at all.
In fact, I so strongly hate these kinds of players, I put this in my daily schedule in PWI:
1: Accept BH
2: Get pwnt by Assassin/Barb/Bm/Archer <-This is usually daily, considering the redname.
3: Finish BH
4: Travel to Oracle spam locations.
5: Gather spark via Black/White voodo spam.
6: Find target.
7: Use Soulburn on said target as they attack Oracle Monster.
8: Watch.
9: Rinse, Wash, Repeat.0 -

Tiageos - Sanctuary wrote: »So your server is different, big deal. On Sanctuary it had the opposite effect. Nefarious started falling apart. Big Brother doesnt hold the map anymore, and smaller factions are starting to get land. There's been a LOT of change because of this and it's for the better. Sure some good people have quit over it. I miss a few of them. But now TW is MUCH more interesting. Battles actually mean something other than the OP faction squashed everyone in 5 minutes.
Erm no. Get your facts straight, you're spewing a load of bollocks. Coming from someone who has been active on the TW scene since day one as well as having spent time in Nefarious recently I can guarantee you that none of the changes within Nef have ANYTHING to do with the TW changes devs made.
Nef has been no showing to Regi much, much earlier than the TW changes took place for reasons that are none of your business. And Nef has been (and still is) steamrolling nub factions in under 5 mins regardless of TW changes. Nothing changed in that regard. The only change that happened is that factions like Enelysion, Amplified and Vindicate have stopped attacking (not that I can blame them) and that most people go into TW uncharmed because not everyone can afford to blow 4 mil a week for nothing. Not to say "TW pay" covered charms, but it most definitely did help in that regard.
Tw is not at all interesting, especially on Sanctuary. It's still "steamroll or get steamrolled". Regi vs anyone = 5 min tw. Nef vs anyone except LG = 5 min tw.
Normally I would add Enely, Vindi and Amp to the equation, but thanks to the TW changes, they stopped attacking. Oh the fun.
LG got lucky and got some good people because of internal conflicts within Nef. TW changes, again, have absolutely nothing to do with it. If anything, they killed the little fun we had left on the TW scene.
Sorry for straying off topic, but wanted to set the record straight.
As for packs - yay Nowitsawn. Boo Sangodoc.
Economy aside, the packs killed any and all sense of accomplishment there was in the game. It took me a year of playing to get my first 100 mil. It took a month for an old guildie of mine to FARM the first Lunar ring on the server. Packs came, a complete and utter noob charges $10, gets lucky with a scroll of tome. Gets 250 mil cash, oracles his char, decks out the gear and rolls the person that spent two years building his char through "legit" means. And voila, you have the PWI of today. Where 1 month old accounts of oracled/hypered noobs without any skill whatsoever prance around in +10 endgame gear pwning people who enjoyed playing the game for two years.
I'm over simplifying yes, but you get the idea. Yay for packs.b:byeb:dirty0 -

any time theres been any kind of internal strife between the two, they trade members like pokemon cards; its been that way since the dawn of time[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
advice to fledgling archers:
Going sage is like drunken sex, at first she may look good, but when you wake up the next morning; you'll look at her and go WHAT HAVE I DONE.0 -
1. You should actually be at the lvl cap before wanting to raise it... last I checked someone JUST hit 104
2. OMG I am getting so tired of this whole cash shop complaining... I wish I knew about PWI (played a different version) a lil over a year ago... But also for the past 4 years I was playing a game where lvl cap was 150 average lvl area was 130-150 there were no new players at all..... aaaaannnd no shops. Every single person who was above lvl 120 spent at least 6k usd... Because thats how much the mats (only sold in cash shop) cost. Then there were guys who had spent enough to buy HOUSES (plural) in the game... I know this because one guy told me and I quote I have $56,000 on this toon about $120,000 on 2 alts and another $30,000 or so on the last one... And then he added it all up for me and said grand total was just over $356,000 USD put into the game in under a year.
From what I have seen with $20 (max) a month. The cash shop here really isn't required... Go play the game. If you just run world quest, bh, fb, public quest, and crazy stone everyday then pk or log off... of course your never gonna have money cause the repairs and cost of items to do them get up there in the higher lvls..... STOP BEING LAZY AND "PLAY" THE GAME.... If the process of playing a game isn't fun for you then maybe your not a gamer
3. For the pvp servers I have noticed a trend.... Get plenty of new players who go up to about mid 30's.... Then suddenly quit.... I never find out why but one would think... I am getting pked left and right and can't do anything about it... This sucks I am playing something else... ORRRR Rerolling on a pve server b:bye
Ok vicious morning tyrade over I need caffiene....
Have fun all cya in gameb:bye

Oh as a side note... I don't like people complaining about cash shop... They haven't truly given a damn since open beta...or perhaps in the middle of the first year, if you were there at the time...right about the first year anniversary, they stopped caring.
