Why should I play a Cleric?

Yo,

So, here I am wondering what class I should play in this game and I've finally narrowed it down to either a Cleric or Psychic (both around level 20, both following a pure magic build). I was hoping peeps who play Clerics can tell me their view/s about the class later on and anything I should worry about that has not been mentioned in PWpedia or stickied guides.

(I've posted a similar thread in Psychic's forum...so word.)

    Both are pretty idiosyncratic classes. It boils down to pew pew and big numbers vs attaining squads and support roles. (Not that clerics can't pew pew, and psychics do get a heal skill, but the focus of each is different.)

    I can't type much cause I am at work atm, but I am sure others will more fully enumerate the key differences.

    Basically, I like being a cleric because I like the fact that I am needed in most squad instances, and, as such, it isn't hard to find spots for things. I also like the versatility of the elf classes in general.

    if u like to control squad mates like little puppets then u should play as cleric

    if u like being lil puppet then choose psychic

    Clerics are the most sought after character for parties in the whole game.
    The problem with a Cleric is that they are the hardest character to level.
    Is it worth the effort?
    That's a personal decision.

    I would have to disagree. We don't have the accuracy issues of the melee classes and we can heal ourselves. I think this makes clerics easy and fun to level.

    If you like seeing big numbers pop up, go for Physics. DD ftw!

    If you like seeing people wanting you in a squad go for Clerics.
    Can I say that clerics are the easiest class to play? Although we are sometimes looked down upon as healers, we can deal serious damage higher up. We can sleep, debuff AND buff, have attacks that do physical damage (not just magic!!! Important for killing that little monster, Kun Kun), and we can heal ourselves as we go! Clerics can also solo if they want and have the time for it.

    As Decus already mentioned: versatility.
    None of the other classes can do that we can do: switching role in every second (jack-of-all-tradesy ftw).

    I sneaked into the psy forum to see what they say... there was a post about we getting yelled for everything... well... avoid random idiots, make friends -> problem solved.

    It is really more of personal choice you have to make and sometimes it has no gratitude or most of the time.

    I would say we aren't exactly the easiest to level be easier than other classes on the other hand most expensive -Venos pets.

    Clerics are just one of the most important persons in squads. If you don't like it when you have the responsibility of the entire hp from your squad. Just don't choose it.
    Ik you like to heal and DD a bit this is just the character... but yes quite hard to lvl, but less repair costs than bm,sin and barbs.. :D

    they are right, clerics are not the hardest, dunno why people think this, clerics are one of funniest character wanted in squads, different type of heals, buffs, magic physical attack, good aoes, etc etc etc b:pleased

    I would say Venos are the easiest classes to lvl and can do it faster.

    thing abot cleric's is this

    1) defensive ranged class(solo pvp) - you can purify off debuffs without using spark and you can regenerate your health; however your attack capabilities have to be used wisely. You have many quality attacks you should learn how to use ALL of them and use them wisely. Meaning that there isn't much room for a mess up.

    2) (pve) high demand - not as high as barbarians but still good enough that you can get into squads

    3) group pvp - don't underestimate a purified stun or a couple ironhearts.
    and bro...fyi this isn't a story.

    All people are idiodic but some are more idiotic than others.

    Psychic= Create some emo looking fish guy, show up and Pew Pew, virtually go unoticed in any squad situation.


    Cleric= Don't look silly, show up at every situation fully serious about your role, and the entire event you will be under a fine microscope. You will need to build some personal rep as well! one wrong move and WC becomes a flooded yellow text of disgruntled 14 year olds blaming the cleric for their own stupid actions.


    Nah that was mostly Tongue-in-cheek, but over all the cleric class can be what you make it. If you can come close to mastering your abilities you will become one popular cleric making it so easy to level, you would almost feel as though people are doing the leveling for you. People love good clerics, and add some good natured humor to it, and you are in at every instance. Clerics sometimes has to endure more BS than most any other class at some point in their choice of class. I swear in the ten years I have played the class, I blame every grey hair on it.

    In the end, it is only how YOU as a person behind the character can handle things.

    and yep. Theres also idiots that think that just because they're the higher level, they can boss clerics around... Dont listen to guys like that but try to pick up a few tricks when they are correct. Do what you KNOW is the better way.

    After all, we clerics learned it the hard/tried and true method. b:victory

    Awesome, thanks for all the replies so far...but yeah, I've always been a healer in other MMO's that I've played and I've always excelled at it. So I do know about the perks of being a healer, like when to let peeps (mainly douchebags) die for ****s and giggles or heal with such profound skills that it makes peeps stare at their screen in awe. =P

    I've been trying to get use to the game mechanics and I've really enjoyed playing this class. The versatility you guys mentioned is amazing. Being able to kill any mobs without worrying if they have some special attribute (Increase Def, Increase Mag. Resist) is awesome. Unlike my Psychic who needs to actually avoid mobs with increase magic resistance. Though I've notice that Psychics have a much easier time killing mobs and soloing certain quest that seems to require a group.

    I've also notice in world chat that groups are always looking for a Cleric, but never a Psyhic...I guess when they ask for a DD, any will do...Not to mention the amount of people who ask for Cleric buffs...me included, haha.

    I have to agree that Tideborn's look pretty emo, but holy ****...have you guys seen how messed up the proportion male Winged Elves' head look? Not to mention every male Winged Elves I've met seem to have that #23 hairdo. If I could make a Tideborn Cleric...I wouldn't even have a second thought. The tattoos sold me, even if it's cliched tribal stuff. Well, that was my small rant, haha.

    I'm still learning as much as I can and I've only met a few players around my level who are actually new to the game. Most of the other peeps are alts and such...so it's a pain when they're using all these abbreviations that you have no clue wtf means...Anyways, Clerics are looking to be the choice so far.

    I don't disagree with the rest of your post, but, lol..

    RB? FF? Lunar? Psychics are a preferred DD class in those. They won't be nearly amongst the first picks in nirvana by any means, but otherwise.. I agree with your post.

    hehe thats why i mentioned tongue in cheek.. In the end all classes have a useful role when it come to some content you are attacking.

    For this game in paticular, some classes don't find thier "time to shine" until well into there later end careers. Clerics/barbs virtually start the need to polish their brass from lvl 1......ok ok lvl 2 we ding after one NPC conversation moreless b:chuckle

    If you like easy-peasy playing, pick psychic. If you like challenges, unexpected happenings in a dungeoun (like noob behavior from other players) and a possibly solo-able character, pick cleric.

    I think one of the most gratifying aspects of being a cleric is getting that nice feeling from helping folks and friends..being there when they ask, and being forgiven if you can't make it.

    On the other hand..Unless you have a The patience of the enlightened Buddah(Rage/Blame/Fail squads)...Cleric's will be pretty hard for you to keepb:surrender

    i feel like that cleric is the most important class
    but if u dont want to get annoy always by some1 whos asking for help/buffs/heal
    then go for psychic.. but
    Psychic deals crazy damages so..

    i think our advice will just make u crazy haha

    Clerics are SO easy to lvl IF you are not a new player.... this is not my main but It will and SINCE lvl 1 there isnt still a MOB I cant 2 or 3 shots..... 2 or 3 shots means they dont even touch me....... I believe they are expensive at first due to the amount of skills you "should" lvl at first.... but not neccesary if you are "poor" you can save up a lot by letting skills for higher lvl........ with a cleric you can do some serious dmg to magic classes so as others.... it will be almost imposible for you at hihg lvl to break a barb charm as a cleric but again EVERYTHING relies on who has the best gear wich is who has more money...... for further info look for player urDian hes the BEST player on harsland server with extremely powerful nirvana set of +11 he started with a cleric wich is 101 now, he change to psy wich is 101 aswell and he is unastoppable 1v1..... depends on the gear.... im 51 and always 2 or 3 shot mobs of my lvl and can even 1 shot them with spark... but again everythime I see other clerics they are like WTF how can you hit so hardm, I get same comment from other classes and still can 1 shot peeps like 3 lvls more than me.... and they are like WOW you are a cleric......
