A couple of veno questions >.>;

Hey all~~
First, the situation at hand.
Me and my wife both play venomancers, and duo basically exclusively whatever content we can (current lvl 34 and 40, so its pretty much limited to FB19s atm xD) but looking towards our future together as a duo-mancer team has left me with many curiousity's and questions for the community :P
For this setup, firstly im trying to figure out specs >.<
2 mage-veno's? (Arcane robes, high mag, low/some vit?)
1 mage w/ tank pet (glacial walker) + 1 melee fox form w/ dps pet (Dark wanderer)
^^
Most questions lie in combo #2 and pertaining to the melee veno
Is there a viable build for going melee as a veno? (w/ light armor? w/ heavy armor? or is heavy more for PVP)
It seems to me like between amp damage, purge, befuddling mist, and other fun debuffs and stuff that being in fox form that it would be nice to have a 1 of each mix
But yeah, if there is a viable fox melee build, what is it? I'm definately intrigued
Neither of us has any intention of PVP, so it can be 100% pure PVE focus build/s
We are not really wealthy in any specific way, using mostly crafted armors and having both just started recently, so money is quite a bit of an issue.
Other Q's:
What abilities are optimal for a tank pet? (glacial walker)
What abilities are optimal for a DPS pet that has a tank (dark wanderer)
If fox form melee is possible, any skills i should avoid? (outside the obvious, mage skills :P)
Hmm, i think that's all for now ^^;
Thank you to anyone with sound advice, in advance ^^;

My recommendation would be to go both arcane armor with possibly some vit (mine vit is at 53 for easy reset to 3 after I don't need it due to HP from refines), I have tried LA up to lvl 70 and actually had a lot worse survivability than when I switched to arcane+vit due to very low HP (you have to pretty much go 1 str/1 dex/3 mag per level leaving no points for vit)
Heavy armor is in my opinion not doable successfully until very late (e.g. 90+) due to the fact that early on you will be missing too many points to wear either armor or weapon your level. Or it gets really costly buying up ornaments with lots of stats. Same pretty much goes for going melee (just FYI you can not go fox form with anything other than magic weapon or empty hands equipped)
A my tank walker has the 3 original skills + threaten (that way you get 50% damage reduction for every 30 seconds out of 60 by alternating threaten and tough)
I added bash to my dark wanderer and kept the starting skills tho replacing tough with flesh ream is always an option if he will never be tanking. (but ofc it will get evne more costly to set him up...)0 -
Your damage output in foxform is tied to patk, so the higher your strength, the higher your damage. You also can't get into foxform unless barehanded or wielding a magic weapon, so you also need a reasonably high mag. Go light if you're on a budget (slightly higher str than arcane, slightly better crits than heavy), go heavy if you don't mind shopping around for +stat ornaments/cape/helmet. (The difference in damage won't be dramatic at early levels.) In either case, magic sword is the way to go at most levels.
Tank pet abilities: level icicle and tough, add bash (for better aggro holding) or threaten (for better survivability and a bit of extra aggro) and level them.
DPS pet abilities: Add howl and level it. (increases mage veno's DPS)
Fox veno skills: Avoid Crush Vigor if you're not going to PVP (mobs don't have chi to drain), level Befuddling Mist to increase tank pet's survivability (but be aware that it's a very short range frontal AOE skill) and be sure to level some mage skills for the times when you're not going to want to get up close and personal (anything that brambles, for instance.) Max Amplify Damage (increases damage done by the party), Leech (increases your survivability) and Consume Spirit (lets you get some mana back while dealing damage, at the cost of some HP.)I added bash to my dark wanderer and kept the starting skills tho replacing tough with flesh ream is always an option if he will never be tanking. (but ofc it will get evne more costly to set him up...)
I would not add bash in the OP's case, as the wanderer with its high DPS might end up pulling aggro off the tank pet.threaten (that way you get 50% damage reduction for every 30 seconds out of 60 by alternating threaten and tough)
You mean 45 seconds out of 60, since threaten has a 15 second damage reduction (only on physical attack) with a 30 second cooldown, in contrast to tough's 15 second damage reduction (on all types of attacks) with a 60 second cooldown.
You could also put threaten on the wanderer to fill in the times when the walker's threaten is in cooldown.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
