It's a text glitch in-game. Certain shapes/names will show up as those boxes on certain items.

Example: I see any name that ends with Kitty or Kitteh on any crafted item as Kit[][] or Kitt[][]
Some people risk to employ me

Some people live to destroy me

    Either way they die

Thats a different bug then what the OP is describing.

The OPs error is coming from the Text font used for ground items doesnt have a star symbol like the font in your inventory window does. Some people with different language settings will end up with a different font for the display of that world text, and then they can see the stars properly.

Xarathox, your error comes from the fact that 'Made By' names can only hold 10 characters, even tho peoples names can be 11 or 12. When a Name is 11 or 12, it actually stores the proper length of the name, but it doesnt store any part of the name beyond 10. So when 1st made, you see it properly, till the 1st time it has to reload the item into memory, then the characters beyond 10 are random memory fragments which happen to lie in memory just beyond the 10 characters for the name, ussually not displayed properly as they are out of bounds with the character font (but randomly sometimes they can be something other then a [] displayed).

All the fonts the game uses are inside of element, has nothing to do with system fonts at all.

Yes & No. The fonts may be in there, but which font it uses is based on your system.
When i installed it without Asian Languages support, it choses a standard 1byte character font for world labels. This doesnt show stars and other symbols. Once you install asian languages support, the world font switches to a 2byte wide character format, which looks similar to PW-MY and then you start to see the stars on the world graphics labelling. However whats rather odd is that it always uses a 2byte wide character format for your popup & chatbox, i guess because those are UI overlays & the game handles those differently.

It should, but as to what to do you'll have to look it up online as it varies alot from operating sytem to operating system and i really dont remember the specifics. Should be able to find a tutorial somewhere.

Is it really that difficult to use a search engine?
Had to use it by myself to find out the English names of the panels.

Well, for Windows XP it is:

Start - Control Panel - Date, Time, Language and Regional Options - Regional and Language Options

    Choose Languages tab.

Activate "Install files for East Asian languages".

    Click OK.

    That's it.

But thanks for the tip. I also wondered why it worked on some PCs and did not work on others. Good to know it was because I installed asian language support on one of them.

Do as I posted and you will not have a need to call a website having Asian language b:chuckle
(I think it is what you are trying to do by changing the microsoft website language, right?)

By the way: It would be much easier to help if you would at least post your operating system.

A WinXP step-by-step instruction does not necessarily work for other operating systems. Because of that I asked.

But on Vista it works nearly the same. Just have a look HERE (Google: "Vista Asian Language Pack"). As far as I know, there will be no download, but just an additional installation of the language pack.

i did all that and there is now a place for me to select languages on my computer task bar but that did nothing to make me see stars....i dont think this is the problem i can go to chinese websites without needing any laguage pack all that did was enable my keyboard to type in chinese...禁城杯馳勞權聖馬皮堂溼溼 see
