Def level
If a psy uses voodoo he can get + 66 defense level,
that should mean he takes 66% less damage.
If you use jade of defense u get plus 2 def level. If you put 4 of those in a gearpart thats 8 def level in a gearpart. If you do that with helm/robe/pants/boots/sleaves/cloak, you get another 48 def level.
that means in total you get plus 114 def level. That means you take 114% less damage???
isnt minus 100% damage taken the same as taking no damage???
how does this game work out its percentages???
(same thing i dont get is with BM, their marrows, how can you get minus 120% pdef)

I can't tell you how the math works, but my psy has Defense Level +121 when in defense mode. I still take damage, but greatly reduced damage. I share my gear with my 101 cleric who has Defense Level +50. I've never tested the damage reduction to be able to provide concrete numbers, but my feel is that the psychic with +121 is nearly impossible to kill while the cleric with +50 is merely difficult to kill.0

and about how killable i guess a warsoul weapon, or that rank9gear will change a lot,... those things make you able to get about 70ish atk-level without using shards of any kind,...0 -

the only think I can guarantee is that X attack level is not +X% dmg and Y def lvl is not -Y%dmg
+100 def level is easy for a psy and that would mean a broken game.
anyway, from my experience, 66 def level is ~-50% of the damage which kinda agrees with the theories above

how do you get 121?
Defense Level+50 from gear - Steady Defense Shards plus Nirvana set bonus plus a few misc on others items.0 -
you mean def level works in before the multiplier of str/dex on defense?? like marrows?
(marrows seem to work in when the str/dex multiplier doesnt work yet,... so a marrow that gives minus 60% equip value is canceld out by bm-def-buff,... n so 120% minus def can work out normaly,... same way as myriad rainbow, if it gives a -100% pdef, doesnt reduce the pdef to zero)
but still, def level does seem a bit strange somehow,...0 -

d = defense level rounded down
if a > d: new = old * ( 1 + (a - d)/100 )
if d > a: new = old / ( 1 + 1.2 * (d - a)/100 )

lol... That is a really good summary of what this 2 voodoo spells really are... White voodoo are our survival buff spell in extreme cases and Black Voodoo is our nuke nuke away buff spell but also a suicide buff, making us SUPER SQUISHY Glass Cannon...Wow, I see you... Anyways, all we know for certain is that attack and defense level adds aren't as cut-and-dry as just being +/- X% damage. One of them diminishes as its stacked, and the other increases.
Based on my experience, its seems most rational to assume that defense levels have a diminishing return, while attack levels would have an increasing return. That goes against what the "demystified" poster suggested, but tbh his experiment isn't the most valid to begin with. (You can't just ignore a key variable, such as the friggen weapon. You can't assume that the results would follow the same trend after a weapon is equipped, because the weapon changes the damage curve SO much.)0
