Charm Dependency...

Hi all,
I made my cleric in 08 and got her to 51 and then I quit for a while til around March of this year and she is now 65...I find myself very easily falling into the comfort zone offered by mp charms...hp charms are not as big of a deal, i can take them or leave them (right now I am using the one from tb quest...why not since it was free). Anyways I'm wondering if this is necessarily a bad thing? Should I train myself to work without them or just continue to buy the mp charms? (I do have the funds) I dunno, I find it offers me the ability to never worry about recharging my mp which is nice when I'm in a group who is flying through an instance and also when I need to use bb. Any thoughts?

    Go without MP charms then at 75 use the event MP pots. They be cheaper.

    Keep in mind later on you will suck through charms. I can easily go through a Plat MP Charm in a day if I am doing a lot of HH etc. The key is to not become reliant on the charms.

    I always have an HP charm equipped but MP I generally only use for TW's and then run it out within a day or two.

    i found the Herb Yuanxiao from the token trading helps a ton later levels. Guess the problem is more REMEMBERING to click on them ><

    The Herb Yuanxiao is what you should use. Cheaper than pots, and very reliable. Minimum level 75 though lol. You're not too far away, maybe a week or two...

    thanks guys...i guess charms will def get a little too expensive and impractical pretty soon. I'll prolly buy one more when this one runs out and then start training myself to use the yuanxio thingys. b:victory

    I agree Mp charms are a waste although hp charms can be a help...you don't really need them...I got one from the tideborn quest and it lasted me like 2 months, nice in instances when you get in a jam.

    Now that Sins are here, charms may be a must on a cleric with constant Plume Shell. A sin could pop up out of nowhere and attack with your Plume Shell on* and you'd have no MP fast. A charm would save you in that, so by the time you notice it tick, you're already using MP food and AD/Ironguard/Sutra Power Orbs, casting WoP and fleeing with your lovely Guardian Light or Holy Path.





    *Although why a Sin would be dumb enough to is beyond me. This is just an example I saw in TW.

    i have over 10k mp so i dont like using a charm cause i buy one then its gone and i wanna cry b:sadb:cry. but charms are nice i keep one or two in the bank for when i need to do runs like dure 2x drop weeks and for when i wanna mass pk. otherwise your fine using event mp and hp pots. the mp pots cost 3 tokens for 50 pots and hp are 9 tokens for 50 pots so thats not to bad. u suggest getting your natural apoth skill up also so you can make lvl5 pots there pretty pro

    If you're sticking to pve stoof, charms are not needed (besided TW ofcourse). Just use the mp/hp food you can get with tokens or use you apoth.

    For pk, hp charm needed and mp charm is adviced. A sin or archer can go true 10k mana in a few seconds when you have plume shell up b:cry

    I have a cleric L63. I was told that there is a Sesame Yuanxiao for those that are below L75 and Herb Yuanciao was for those above L75. Although, I have been unable to find the sesame type. Any truth to that?

    I wouldn't think of BBing with a charm if other ask and I agree with most charms are waste and aren't necessary in TW if you have good mp food.

    Maybe I am one in a few...dunno...but in TW I find an MP charm a MUST. Why?

    ^ Even MP food sometimes would not be able to keep up with the amount of hits being taken in a small amount of time in my experience. This would mean that you not only cannot keep yourself alive but your squad members alive...no mp = screwed.

    It all depends on what and how much mp food you have and I was with a Cleric showing me some demon skills who was in a TW Faction and they battled a lot.
    Looking for a decent casual understanding Faction.

    I have had Plume Shell broken bc so many were attacking. Get a few archers, bms and barbs on you at the same time = lol to your mp...as in Zero w/o a charm...

    Are you saying you dont need a charm in TW out of experience? Or word of mouth? Because there's no way you can argue a charm doesn't help in TW.

    Lol...no, it should not make a difference.

    And I am Sage.

    Also, I tend to, most of the time, be on cata = instantly targeted by more then a few people.

    Have about 3-6 archers/bm's/barbs/sins hit you with plume shell constantly and you try to recover your mp swiftly with enough to heal yourself/sleep/heal another/etc...

    All I am saying is that in my experience, MP food does very little if anything in these types of situations and/or TW's...
